So I just got notified that I got a new host assignment at my home casino, I believe this is the 4th host I've had there in the last 3 years. Anyone know why they do this? Kind of annoyed this time, as I liked the previous one, and had even given her small gifts to (hopefully) get preferential treatment.

Are the previous hosts still there? If they moved to different properties it makes sense you were reassigned. If your host is still there you should ask why?

Do you think you ask too much and hosts don't want to deal with you?

She is still there. Not sure about ones previous to her. I don't think I asked too much; I actually hadn't had any contact with my host in a few months, the last time being when she thanked me for the gift. Seemed sincere?

You'll have to ask. It could mean nothing.

It is likely your host didn't want you anymore. This is equivalent to being broken up with by a girlfriend. You weren't meeting her needs.

    I'm not even kidding.

When your host drops you, it either means they made a conscious decision to do so, or they've left their position.

So why would a host drop you?

Hosts are judged by the amount of action you give per trip. This is done through the aggregate of all players they are hosting. They are not judged individually upon you, but a player who generates less daily theoretical loss than others in the host's stable can be considered a burden, as he will be dragging the host's average down.

Even worse, if you are an overcomped player -- basically that you're using up more casinos resources (offers, rooms, etc) than you're generating in theoretical -- then you are REALLY dragging their average down, and in fact may be costing them commission.

This, of course, is nothing you should feel guilty about, as it's not your problem. However, this does explain why hosts don't want certain players, and drop them.

So if one host drops you, why would another host pick you up?

Again, much like in the dating world, every host has different standards regarding players they find appealing.

Think of it like this: If you're dating a gold digger and make $100k/year, the girl is likely not going to think that's enough, and wil dump you. However, if you then meet another girl who typically dates unemployed, broke losers, you are going to look like a superb catch.

Similarly, newer hosts or ones with a less impressive group of players may be happy to take a shot with you, especially if you're still generating more theoretical loss than resources used.

I had an interesting situation in Vegas. I was WAY overcomped in the CET Vegas market. I basically don't play in Vegas (aside from the World Series of Poker, which generates very little theo), so hosts hate being assigned to me there. I have been dropped by countless hosts, and in recent years, nobody was picking me up.

This is why I was surprised in 2016 when a host associated with the Rio did pick me up. I figured out this was because she was not a traditional host, but more of a contractor who works for herself, but is affiliated with the Rio's host office. Her compensation is done differently, and I don't believe she is judged or penalized when I no-play. She didn't tell me this, but that's my assumption. She's also very nice and doesn't treat me like a burden (which almost all other hosts tend to do, especially in Vegas), so I always make sure to book through her when I stay in other markets where I plan to play heavily.

It's more than this. The host position is strictly a sales gig. Their compensation is tied not just to theo but growth in theo. I was told this by my host, probably trying to guilt me into more play. So as a 7*, I give significant action. However, if I don't play even more in a subsequent year, they don't really benefit. Hence, a lot of times, they will drop players so they don't have to carry the burden of a large base of existing business. To be a successful CET host, I was told its a churn and burn game. The key is to find a lowly gold and turn them into a diamond.

Makes sense; I'm well on the plus side there over the last few years, which is probably why I'm getting passed around. Oh well, no more gifts!

If you're on the plus side, the casino will be giving you more offers to get you back to lose that money. I still think you have to ask why you were dropped by the host. I doubt it's only because you're winning.

Hosts are also assigned to players and players likewise to hosts, reference their nationalities. At least at most places. As well, most places you can make a written request to change hosts if you have been there and played within the past 6 months timeline. If not, most places will allow a verbal, over the phone change of hosts. I have done this at several properties of various brands in the past.

I ask this seriously. Do you think as a cost cutting that hosts could eventually be farmed out to 'DAVE" in india or 'Julie" in Pakistan or Tony in Romania and dont forget good ole "buster" in south Korea. Especially as things become more automated, and cut and dried as far as them not having many decisions to make.

Absolutely, with Caesar’s you can get almost everything you need online from offers or rooms by just logging in. Hosts call all the time but unless I would need something special like dinner reservations, which I never do, they are worthless to me. As the older generations of gamblers moves on the host will be an antiquated job. Cost cutting casinos can see this.

Before I retired, the pharmacy chain I worked for was experimenting with this.
In the experimental stores, all calls went to a call center(for now in the USA)..

IS MY PRECRIPTION READY?----just need to look at computer screen to answer
    Do I have refils remaining:--same
Can I order my refill: a push of the button prints it at store level
If no refills can u call my doctor:- a push of a button sends a fax to the doctor requesting a refil
can I ask the pharmacist something: please hold for the pharmacist; and it goes tothe store phone
Doctor calls go directly to pharmacist at store level.

Once this works......it goes overseas where they can invest in a workspace and equipment and pay people 2 dollars an hour instead of 15-20 for a pharmacy tech at the store.

And I agree it will happen at casinos as well. Its not brain surgery. Peoples expectations are getting dumbed down...where this type of thing
