Thread: Crazy "Exit" bets

"nothing is out of the ordinary in a casino. When I dealt, I saw plenty of people talking to themselves -- like crazy people mumbling gibberish to themselves. On craps, I've seen people be on a pretty good roll, pressing up their bets, etc. then they randomly take all their bets down, all their money in the rack, and plop it down in the field."

This reminded me of a craps player at the Bellagio who had a good night, but it was time for him to leave the table. Did he color up his chips and cash out at the cage? No. He took his entire stack of black chips (It was $1,800 in black chips -- 18 $100 chips) and pushed them to the stickman to be bet on the hard-8. All of his smaller chips, about $200 worth, were also stacked in the hard-8 box for the dealers. The point was 8. Had it hit, he would have had $18,000 -- but the bet lost as the shooter rolled a 7-out.

After he walked away the dealers talked about how he had a good night at the table. I have to wonder if he had a good night after he left the table?

I have, at times, seriously wondered if there is some sort of biochemical issue involved. Sleep, stress, alcohol metabolism, or perhaps feelings of guilt? Going from Ploppie to Sharpie is admirable and takes time and effort, but going the other way seems to be utterly foolish but happens far too frequently.

I've seen players make a big play for a big win, but it's usually early in the gaming session.

For example, the guy who walks up to a craps table and throws $2,000 cash on the field and says "money plays." I've seen that too many times. If he doubles up, he settles down.

There used to be a regular at Caesars who would walk up to the craps table and buy in for $6,000. He would instruct the dealer to put $1,000 on each box number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10) for the next roll -- even if it was a come out roll he had the bets working. If the roll was a 7 and he lost he'd go away. If he hits a number he plays with the profit from that number and the rest of the money goes back in his pocket.
