Deadwood Mountain Grand Resort, Deadwood, South Dakota. The tin building in the forefront was the Homestake gold processing plant. It couldn't be torn down because of historical significance. They gutted the inside and remodeled it into a casino.

Yes, they think Singer is a dickhead too.

Boz, besides Deadwood, Mt. Rushmore is another stop in the Black Hills. Lots of hotel space in Keystone a few miles away.

Boz, email me and I'll be glad to answer any questions.

Another attraction in the Black Hills is Devil's Tower.

Yes, I've stopped at Wall Drug. Just a big I-90 tourist trap. Everything overpriced. The hotels in Wall also have ripoff tourist prices so I never use them. One stop I haven't made yet is 1880 Town east of Wall. They're only open in the summer so next time though in the summer I'll be stopping there.

He might be in Emery, South Dakota by now. That's his "summer home." What a joke. I could understand western South Dakota. It's pretty scenic. But Emery is in eastern South Dakota and all cow pasture. Rob must like the smell of cowshit. Or maybe his old lady fits right in with the rest of the heifers.

I removed 2 trolling messages at the end of the thread.

Mickey, please continue. I'm really enjoying the pics.

Regarding Mount Rushmore, I went there 5 years ago.

I liked the monument, but hated two aspects surrounding it:

    1) Despite having a National Parks Pass at the time, they charged me $11 for "parking". Why? Because they claimed a separate company is contracted to handle the parking. What a bunch of bullshit. Why even have a National Parks Pass if they can charge you simply because they farm out some service to a third-party company?

    2) The town of Keystone was the most obnoxious tourist trap I've ever seen. You're greeted by a literal wall of billboards, and it never gets better from there. I found the entire place to be obnoxious.

Keystone was even worse than Gatlinburg, Tennessee -- which is gateway to Smoky Mountains National Park. At least Gatlinburg has/had an interesting "auto nature trail" where you could drive through a fairly interesting wooded area which gets you away from the tourist trap elements. I say "had" because the area was slammed by a horrendous fire a few years ago which killed people and closed the trail for awhile. Anyway, if you guys want to see the Smoky Mountains, I suggest staying on the Cherokee, NC side, which is a quaint American Indian town and not very touristy. There's also a Harrah's there.

I was there in the off season so things were slow. I didn't even eat in one of the restaurants as my hotel had the free breakfast. One of the obnoxious things some of the local hicks do is put bumper stickers on their pickups that say "Now That You've Seen It Go Home."

I've never been to Jackpot. Now I'm intrigued. I'll have to get out the old road atlas.

The Horseshu is the casino in the third picture down.
