There are many versions. Go to YouTube.

Your version might be the one by the Cowsills.

Yes, he heard the Cowsill version. It was a big top 40 hit in the sixties.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

Ah the Cowsills, I'm old. Poor kewlj, missing out on all that 60s and 70s high culture. Watched Joe Cocker at Woodstock on Utube last night. Got a tear in the eye.
Take off that stupid mask you big baby.

The Beatles started the long hair trend in males although their hair wasn't really long, it was shaggy. I was ten years old when the beatles hit the U.S. All us kids wanted to copy the Beatles with the hair but the old folks made sure we got hair cuts. My dad used to trick me. He would get me into the car first and driving down the road before he said we were going to get a haircut. If he said haircut before I got in the car he knew there was a good chance I would haul ass. LOL! When I got old enough I grew my hair half way down to my ass just to piss him off.

For those of you who are still drawing blanks, that equates to a sizeable pension for life and a healthy retirement savings plan. And by the way if any of you slugs actually have jobs, thank you for paying our social security deposits that roll in on the 2nd Wed. of every month.

Or are the majority of you going down mickey's glorious path? I foresee a lot of dying lonely, broke old men here. Like, you know, "VP AP" Skippy Hughes. Of course, Alan, regnis and sling don't qualify. Responsibility goes a long way, esp. within a group of bs'ing gamblers.

Another reason to hate me? I'm soaking it up! And THIS is why I'm here--to stomp on the little people.

But don't let any of this bother any of you! C'mon....it's Sunday and that means FOOTBALL on the 85" screen around here. Our young next door neighbors are coming over to watch the Pats win, then we'll go for swims in the heated pool and spa and I'm bbqing. That's what a retiree's typical fall Sunday is like. Now I'm sure it's a downright blast heading to the casinos to enjoy the smoke, the germs, and all the lovely people who hang out in those places. Gee....why did we ever work??

All I was saying, Rob, is that if you were a VP at Northrop, then either you made a ridiculous amount less than Boeing VP's, or you must have blown a ton of money gambling. Now I don't know which it is, but if you want to educate me, be my guest.

I don't get the hatred for www.LuxBusAmerica.com. Am I supposed to be embarrassed? It costs about as much as a flight from Anaheim, it takes about the same amount of time, and I always have two seats to myself with wifi, so I can work. It's actually smoother working-wise than going through airport security and takeoff and all that.

It finally occurred to me -- Rob must go on about his pension because he blew his year-to-year salary. This goes back to arci's projection theory. Rob has some deep-rooted fear of having to handle his own money because he never handled it well. I hate pop psychology, but it does make a lot of sense. And it all ties in with Rob's addiction lectures. Rob recognizes his own addiction.

Rob obsesses about his pension, and the possible lack of other's pensions, because he blew his salary year after year and he doesn't trust himself to be hands-on with his lifelong earnings.

That's a reasonable hypothesis. It would also explain Rob never sending Alan his taxes. It would explain his bankruptcy.

    Just a theory, though.

Swimming sounds like a great idea Harry....make sure you have plenty of sardines on hand for the Mrs. while she`s frolicking around...and for God`s sake, don`t dress her in a black and white swim suit

I get plenty of 60's and 70's culture (and music). Well maybe with me it's more 70's and 80's. My spouse is in his mid 50's and that means I have attended concerts by Vincent Furnier (Alice Cooper) and Michael Lee Aday (Meatloaf), twice each, as well as a Guns and Roses and Neil Diamond concert. Neil Diamond might have been 60's...had that kind of sound. Nothing I enjoy more that hearing some overweight, 70 year old man singing about orgasming by the dash board lights. (where's the damn sarcastic emoji...I guess I will have to go with an eyeroll.

It almost scares me that our Sundays seem close to identical. My spouse and brother and I just returned from an early brunch. Breakfast to me, but the casinos insist on calling it brunch so they can charge more. We have friends, relatives and neighbors coming over to watch football by and in the pool, including my favorite "darksider" pit friend. My TV is only 75" so you can claim victory on that, you size queen. My pool isn't heated, but the hot tub is. As a matter of fact, I purchased a cooling system for the pool this summer, to keep the temps down, to an enjoyable temperature. Surprisingly less than a dollar a day to operate.

Hopefully the Eagles will crush the Giants and then my biggest worries of the day will be tolerating my Mothers new Beau, who I am having a hard time warming up to and convincing my brother to grill the steaks. He actually enjoys doing so, but likes to make it seem like a favor.

The TV size should really be dictated by the viewing distance not bragging rights. Check a site like: http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-...e-relationship

That's correct, but these days an 85" TV is hardly the king of TV's. But I can see how some of the slugs here would think that way.

Don't get too scared kew. We're not sitting around the pool with a bunch of strangers staring at guys wearing speedos.

Redietz, keep making things up about me so you can somehow feel good about your sorrowful life. Not my fault your wife from the old days didn't want to stay around. My guess is she had a nightmare about a glimpse into her future. Man....dude....buddy....

Rob is a big football fan and he really gets his jollies off watching the athletes disrespect the flag and the anthem. I'm seriously thinking about boycotting the NFL and their advertisers because of that bullshit

Disrespectful spooks. They'd be on the same handouts-program you've always lived on if it wasn't for them being bred to play football.

For the record, and I have posted this before, my late wife died of cancer 15 years ago. We had been married 25 years.

The queasy thing is, as I have said, I posted this before so Rob evidently knows this and posts his garbage anyway. When blackhole posted regarding his current cancer treatments, I responded with posts detailing what we went through.

Rob evidently enjoys this kind of thing. It doesn't really bother me, as I have a pretty good handle on how worthless Rob is, but I would hope he would treat other people better.

If he said this to someone else, I would recommend banning him, as he has a long history of this with arci's wife and now mine. It does not make for a pretty or humane forum. In fact, it is stomach churning to allow someone like this to even participate.

Having known of your wife's passing 15 years ago, because you shared that with me recently, it completely disgusted me each and every time Rob has made such a comment. Unfortunately I couldn't say anything, because it was told to me privately. But now that it has been brought to light, I call on these defenders of Rob's...these enabler, to condemn that kind of disgusting behavior. And I call on Dan, to do something about this sleazy pig of a human being.

    Mickey,
I am almost there too. My wife, starting today, isn't watching anymore. Selfishly, (I love football) I'm still watching, but definitely getting closer to saying the hell with it. My father in-law is a veteran and my dad was a veteran. I know what they'd say.

Maybe it me, but I am not viewing these protest the same as you and mickey are. I haven't seen any indication of anyone's protesting being directed at the current military or veterans. I was under the impression these protests were about calling attention to perceived unjust domestic actions and policies in the hopes of change.

And because protests are one of our fundamental rights as Americans, I view these protesters as in a way "honoring" our military and veterans, for us all having that right to protest. Agree or disagree with what is being protested, military and veterans should take pride in that they protected our way of life and the freedom that we all enjoy, including the right to protest, even protest dumb things.

  19. #39
There are other ways to protest besides dishonoring our flag.

If the NFL players really want to protest, why don't they refuse to suit up and sacrifice their pay? That would be a significant protest.

Seeing millionaires on one knee doesn't tell me they're serious.

    KJ,

Points taken. My perspective is, I don't watch sports (IMO neither does the vast majority) to see this endless activism. Professional players have very large audiences. Again IMO, players should say and do all they want on their own time. I fail to see what the point is to take a knee during the national anthem with the giant field covering flag waving. Seriously what is the point of this silent protest? Wouldn't they be better served holding weekly press conferences where they can speak the issues and be heard?

No, I don't believe their intentions are to disrespect the military or the flag, but to a lot of people that is what they are doing. That is why I believe talking about issues is better than silent protestations.

If the NFL starts seeing less profits for too long (I hear attendances are down) this will end. Time will tell.

    Edited to add:
Did you see where Pittsburgh player Alejandro Villanueva defied the steelers' Anthem protest? He's the only Vet on the team and only player to come out for anthem.
