Thread: Avoid the ATM at Las Vegas Caesars properties

The already-steep fee of $7 has been increased to $10.

    What a ripoff.

That's highway robbery. It was $6.99 in January which was bad enough. It's usurious fees like this that make banks like my main bank quit reimbursing all of the fees to higher level account holders, as they used to up until about a year or so ago when they reduced it to a max of $9.99/month.

I used to walk from Ceasars Palace to Casino Royale where the ATM only charged one buck. Is that still true?

    "You want bread?"

    "Yes, please."

    "THREE DOLLARS!"

(Casino Royale's 'QuickJack 2' ATM fee went up to $3.00, from a buck in 2015)

Nobody should be using ATMs in vegas or actually anywhere--unless an emergency. Bring the cash you need, take markers, or open a bank account in a Bank near your gaming venue.

Sure, and nobody should shop at 7-11.

    Convenience, convenience, convenience.

Agree completely, at least for people who gamble regularly.

Actually, that doesn't even make sense. You're sarcastically saying you should never shop at 7-11, but in reality, you shouldn't ever actually "shop" at 7-11. I'm not talking about stopping by for a soda, chips, a snack, etc. But all the groceries type stuff are marked up pretty high. You wouldn't do your normal shopping at 7-11, where you buy your toilet paper, some canned foods, those instant soup things, etc. You normally buy that stuff at a normal grocery store....only in an emergency should you buy those things at 7-11.

    Different strokes for different folks.

I used to have a casino credit line but I was uncomfortable tapping into more money than I wanted in case I was steaming. So I cancelled it. Now I bring cash for the weekend. I do have a bank account with branches in Vegas I can use. Sometimes I draw the cash from the bank at the Las Vegas airport if I fly in on a Sat morning. But I am typically in Vegas for the weekend and branches are closed Saturday late afternoon and all day Sunday besides the branches and associated bank ATMs require a drive and sometimes I don't rent a car (uber and taxi cost more than ATM fees). If things really go south, I like ATMs since they give me a daily limit so not too much damage when I steam. But CET's $10 ATM fee bites.

One of the perks of being Diamond or above used to be a couple of "no fee" atm machines. 1 was located in the high limit room at flamingo and 1 in the paris diamond lounge. Was a nice perk.

Dan, perhaps you can check but Diamond & Seven Stars used to be able to cash checks up to a certain (Like $500) amount at Ceasars even without a line of credit. Not sure if that is still true or not.

I have both Chase & Wells fargo accounts so if I do need to use an atm in vegas I can find several close by.

My friend tried cashing a check at the cage at Caesars perhaps a year ago. They said they don't do that. We were waiting in the seven stars line, so if they were to do this for seven stars players, I'd expect she would have asked or said only for seven stars. Then again, often times employees in casinos don't know their own promotions, what benefits higher level card holders get, etc. so it's also possible she just didn't know about it.

They do have check cashing. I've used it. I did not set it up in Vegas though but rather at the casino in Cleveland when they were TR and I was too lazy to walk from the casino to my local bank's nearby ATM. Now that it is set up I just have to give them ID and then it comes through to my checking account as a withdrawal. But it isn't bankroll level money or at least that I have pursued. I have never used it for more than $300 at a time once a trip. But I have done this at CP, Harrahs and I think once at Harrahs New Orleans. As I recall it took about 10 minutes or so to get set up the first time I did it so perhaps the cage person your friend talked to just didn't want the hassle for whatever reason. And in case it matters I have never had or tried to get a line.

$9.99 ..... and harrah's isnt even a Top tier property.

I usually show up in Vegas with less than $60 cash, usually in small bills for tipping and for fast food stops along the way.

    I have a credit line.

Seven Stars also have the option of going to the cage, using their debit card at the cage, and getting the fee (debit fee is lower than a credit card fee) reimbursed as free play.

by the way I was at Caesars Palace on Oct 1 for dinner at Nobu. While I didn't play I used the ATM to break a $20 into smaller bills and the fee was still $6.99.

Saving or not spending $10 is okay, but penny pinchers are fodder for casinos. I think it was Doyle Brunson, a famous poker player, who said, loosely, that you can't gamble well if the money means something to you.

I think he is right about that in the general sense as well. People who get so wound up over a few dollars but "happily" lose thousands a week to the casinos present with such a hopeless predicament. The forums, including this one, are littered with worry over a few dollars.

The need to find ways around yourself with your money is so typical of problem gamblers, who are the last to see and admit it.

I guess I must be a Luddite, as I have never gotten and / or used a debit card, nor have I ever gotten a cash advance on a credit card.

Me, I'm a cash sort of guy, and have a line of credit to draw on if needed.

Why not use the TITO machines?

That is the ATM machine. All ATM machines at Caesars are TITO cashing machines.

(Let me correct that... there are a couple of machines that are ONLY ATM machines, like the one in the lobby.)

So does it also charge $6.99 to cash out a ticket as well?

  19. #19
Of course there is no fee to cash out a ticket.
Nor is there a fee to "break bills" into smaller denominations.

Ok. I interpreted your original post as if they charged you the fee to make change. My bad.
