Thread: New Year's Eve 2011-2012

I'm starting this thread hoping that those of you who are on mailing lists from various casinos will tell us what the casinos are offering this year for their New Year's Eve celebrations.

Personally, I've stopped going to Vegas for NYE because it's too crowded, table game minimums are too high, and the big crowds make hotel service miserable.

My last NYE in Vegas was about five years ago, and we couldn't get maid service to clean our room for more than 36 hours -- no fresh towels, no bedding change, nothing. It was a disaster. And it was all because the housekeeping staff was overworked.

And previous years were also a mess.

I just got in the mail the "New Year's Eve" offerings for Caesars in Las Vegas and I have my choice of three events at three different properties.

Caesars Palace has a party with dinner, dancing and entertainment with Wes Quave. In year's past, I went to events with Vanessa Williams and Huey Lewis & The News. I see Wes Quave every night here on LA TV singing a commercial for KCAL Channel 9. There's a champagne brunch and four night stay.

The Rio is offering $1500 of free play, dinner for two in one of their restaurants, a new year's day Champagne brunch, a New Year's Eve 11pm drawing for more casino play --25 winners, and one gets $50,000 of free play.

Planet Hollywood offers four nights, New Year's Eve dinner for two at one of its restaurants, champagne party on NYE at 11pm with a drawing for Porsche and free play, and other free play drawings during the weekend. And there's a New Year's Day champagne brunch also.

I've never won a thing at any of these drawings and the chance of winning is slim because there are literally a few thousand other casino guests in the same drawing.

The other thing I don't like about New Year's is that some hotels require that you check in no later than Dec 30th with no check-ins allowed on Dec 31st.

Alan if I were you I'd zip into the Rio on the 30th (or 31st if need be) play the $1500 thru once and take what you mugged them for home right away. Exactly what the casino does not want you to do, and that is the only way to beat them consistently.
