Thread: Don't Play My Games

  1. #1
Just in case anyone has followed the invitation-only Wise Guys Contest this season, I wanted to warn folks from playing my games for any serious amounts during the upcoming final six weeks.

I ended the regular season with an 18-6 against-the-spread record and leading the contest. There's just one problem. The college regular season is over, and the contest requires that you select two games a week. That means taking NFL games and bowl games the rest of the way, and having examined the schedule, I think I'd be better off flipping coins for the remainder of the contest. This is not an unusual state of affairs -- my forte is college football, and I often do well during the season, only to fall flat on my face the last third of the contest. Bowl games are a crap shoot, and I'll do a brief post next week explaining why one should not, in general, wager on bowl games.

So in case anyone's made a fair chunk on my Wise Guys game, my recommendation is to put it in the bank and save some for next college regular season.

I realize not many handicappers are going to deliver messages like this, but we be truth-tellers here. The season's done -- go spend some of the profits, save some for next season, and to all a good night.
