Do we really need to watch live TV anymore? My favorite show of the season is ABC's Pan Am and last night I missed the show. Yikes! How could that happen?

Well, I did not panic. Instead, I went to the ABC website and watched it on my computer. And, when I missed a particular phrase I was able to watch the scene again. I was able to pause the video and run to the kitchen for another scoop of ice cream. And I was able to do all this without having to pay for a DVD and without having to set to record the show.

Oh, the wonders of the web.

Sure I had to watch a few commercials on the ABC website, but like when I watch TV, I was able to use that "break" to run to the kitchen for another scoop of ice cream. (No wonder I'm gaining weight.)

Actually, the web reruns offer another advantage over live TV. The website tells me when the commercial break will end and when the program resumes. When you watch TV you don't know if it's going to be a 2-minute commercial break or a 3-minute break.

I love the web. Here's the link to the Pan Am episodes: http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/pan-am
