Thread: GWAE alert

  1. #1
High stakes blackjack player known on the forums as smallcapgrowth, recently recorded the show again, his third or fourth, possibly airing this week. Smallcap is what I call a slash and burn type player, or a player who slaughters, rather than shears. Complete opposite approach than myself, but always a fascinating listen for anyone into blackjack play.

Thanks for the alert. I actually enjoyed listening to SCG's podcast thingies in the past.

I don't follow GWAE that much, have there been any interesting ones lately?

I don't listen regularly either. Although I love Munchkin, Dancer more than negates that for me.

I only listen when I am alerted to someone that I would find particularly interesting like one of the pro blackjack guys that we know or someone 'special' like Mickey. It just so happens, I was chatting with smallcap on another site and he mentioned that he recently recorded the show again.

I am not familiar with his "podcast thingies". Where can I find that?

I think I heard bob Nersesian was recently on yet again. He is ALWAYS a great listen and great value to AP's, blackjack and other.

That makes 3 of us that don't listen often. I only listed if someone says there's something new and interesting.

KJ I think they have a Q&A via email or something like that.

Next time you know there will be a BJ player, or even just ask munchkin about counting 2 tables.

If Alan would put some money where his mouth is I bet someone would prove it.

I don't know how much straight card counting, Munchkin does these days. Last I heard he hangs out a good deal with Grosjean, exploiting non-blackjack table games and side bets, gaining much bigger advantages. In the past he has participated on some big blackjack teams though and I am quite sure the spotters tracked multiple tables, which is not all that different than playing one table and tracking a second. It REALLY isn't that uncommon among experienced and professional type players.

It only seems odd to Alan, because HE is not familiar with the technique and if Alan is not familiar with something, then it just can't be because Alan knows everything!

Just like everything else, there would be no proof, that would satisfy Alan.

But, I will email munchkin and see if he will comment on tracking a table while playing another.

One thing I don't like about the GWAE show is a question will be asked, and to me, it'll seem very straight forward, then Bob and/or Munchkin (usually Bob, IIRC), totally twist the question around as if the person was asking something else. Like someone will say, "I was winning a bunch on a game then a pit boss / floorman / slot tech / slot supervisor / or whatever did XYZ, which I thought was heat and didn't want to burn out this play, so I left shortly after. What do you think?" Then one (or both) will interpret that as the player left because he was winning a lot and say "No, you should have kept playing", without even addressing the concern of heat or what they think the action from the boss/supervisor/etc. may have meant (sometimes them taking an interest isn't because they suspect you of something, but because they want to keep you there so you lose a bunch).

Dancer also says a lot of stupid shit, and I'm not talking about the weird sex stuff he talks about sometimes. Although, it seems recently he's been doing that less and less and is giving better information. IE: Someone has a question on strategy or playing perfectly and Dancer would say -- You gotta know the game 100%, because that extra 0.001% is worth $100/year or something retarded. Also it seemed like he'd give his opinion on something from his perspective, when clearly that isn't the proper way to answer someone's question -- IE: As if the player asking the question had a multi-million dollar bankroll and is willing to fade $100k+ on some thin edge. Or recommending someone play the 99.58% TDB instead of 99.54% JOB, simply due to the 0.04% difference, not factoring in variance.

Lately it seems he's been giving advice that's more appropriate to the person asking. Then again, that might just be because I haven't been following all the Dancer / GWAE stuff.

I meant SCG's podcast thingies as in the times when he's on GWAE. I didn't mean it to sound like he has his own podcast or show.

Both Dancer and Munchkin have the GWAE podcasts archived on their websites. You can pick and choose which podcasts you want to listen to.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

Thanks—I read smallcap on BJ21 and heard his earlier podcast on gwae. He is obviously a talented player.
