Thread: Will you play craps on 11-11-11?

    Are you superstitious enough to make a trip to a casino to throw dice on November 11, 2011... 11/11/11?

    11-11-11 might be the day to have that run of elevens -- the yo -- in craps.

    So far, I haven't seen any casino promotions for November 11th but it is a Friday, and also marks Veterans Day and a weekend holiday for some.

    Vegas did promote 7-7-07 as the luckiest day of the century. And then there were the 8-8-08 promotions for Asians because the number 8 signifies wealth and prosperity.

    For 11-11-11 there could all kinds of promotions such as bonuses, jackpots, gifts associated with throwing a yo.

    There is also the superstition that a shooter will roll a yo after the point is established, the so-called "second roll yo" and that could be a bonus promotion too.

    How about offering $111,111,11.11 if the shooter rolls eleven yos in a row? (By the way, I saw a shooter at Caesars once roll 18 yos in a row, and the funny thing is NO ONE was betting it.)

    Will you try to roll a yo on the yo day, of the yo month, of the yo year?

    The blackjack pit can also get in on the 11 promotion. How about this: For every 11 that you double down on and get a blackjack you get a bonus?

    I haven't heard of any 11-11-11 Casino promotions for craps players, but Pechanga Casino in Temecula just announced a promotion for 11-11-11... but it is not directly related to craps. Pechanga is handing out drawing tickets to its players club members and players can win additional drawing tickets for the giveaway drawings on 11-11-11 based on certain wins in the casino. Here's what they just sent out:

    11-11-11 EVENT When: November 11, 2011 (Friday)

    Who: All Club Members
    Where: Staging Area
    How: Earn Drawing tickets from November 1st – November 11th

    Physical Drawing tickets distribution at the following areas:
    Rewards Booths:

    Silver = (1) Drawing ticket
    Gold = (2) Drawing tickets
    Platinum = (3) Drawing tickets
    Red = (4) Drawing tickets

    All Hand Paid Jackpots = (1) Drawing ticket
    Table Games (excluding Poker) – Selected winning hands only

    Drawings Times:
    11am 11 winners Each will win $1,111 Easy Play
    1pm 11 winners Each will win $1,111 Easy Play

    I'm surprised: no big bonus drawing for 11:11:11-PM on 11-11-11??

    More promotions at Pechanga in Temecula have been announced for 11-11-11 and one is for Veterans and current military:

    Pechanga is offering all active and veteran members of the U.S. Armed Forces a free meal at its all new, redesigned Buffet this Veterans Day, November 11. Honoring their sacrifice to this great nation, Pechanga welcomes veterans to its Buffet between 11am to 3pm and 4pm to 11pm. The prices for non-military guests are noted below.

    Since Veteran’s Day 2009, when the tradition began, Pechanga has served 4,386 free buffets to veterans and active duty military members.

    “We are happy to once again serve our veterans and honor their service,” said Pechanga Development Corporation President Joaquin Fletcher. “From hosting military balls to supporting veteran causes, Pechanga knows its debt of gratitude to these men and women and we are not afraid to show it each year as we observe Veteran’s Day.”

    Valid Veteran and Active Duty Identification accepted will include:

    • Military identification card
    • Veteran’s identification card
    • Veteran’s organization card such as VFW, American Legion
    • Discharge papers, dd214 or other veterans ID
    *Please note: For the safety and comfort of everyone, guests are asked to respect the normal resort dress code of appropriate wear and no gang-style clothing.

    Cost for non-military guests: (Note: signing up for a Silver card at a Rewards Club booth is always free)

    Lunch: 11a-3p - No card $16.99, Silver $13.99, Gold $10.99, Platinum $7.99, Red $4.99
    Dinner: 4p-11p - No card $26.99, Silver $23.99, Gold $20.99, Platinum $17.99, Red $14.99

    Visitors on Veteran’s Day will also be able to have some fun while visiting Pechanga.

    The Poker Room is offering up its No-Limit Hold’em charity event for “Operation Silver Star” - a Menifee-based nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting wounded and returning combat military veterans of all eras. The tournament begins at 7pm with a $100+$25 buy-in. 30% goes to charity and 70% to the prize pool. Operation Silver Star was founded by the family of a former Pechanga employee who lost a limb in the Iraq war.

    For slot players, it is November’s big 11-11-11 event. $60,000 in Easy Play is set to be given away to lucky players who earn their drawing tickets from November 1st to Veteran’s Day. Every two hours, from 11am to 7pm, 11 guests will receive $1,111 in Easy Play. Drawing recipients must be present to win.

    Fans of comedy will note that Brian Regan will be performing in the Pechanga Theater on Veteran’s Day at 8pm ($65, $55, $45 – very few tickets are left).

    Meanwhile Daryl Wright (see his feature interview at The Comedians) will be performing at The Comedy Club at Pechanga at 7:30pm and 9:30pm ($22 per person, one drink minimum).

    Tickets for all shows are available at Pechanga.com, at (877) 711-2WIN, at the Pechanga Box Office or any time at the on-site ticket kiosks.

    I'm hoping to make a quick trip to Las Vegas on Friday to shoot a little craps, just to be able to say I shot craps on 11-11-11.

    I think it would be wonderful if I could be in on an 11 minute hand -- or shooter's turn with the dice. You can make a lot of money in an 11 minute hand.

    Reminds me of a great hand that a shooter had one time:

    I used to time shooters hoping to be able to report that I was at the table "when Joe shot for an hour" or something like that.

    Well, this one player had a great hand and everyone was cleaning up. When he did 7-out I asked the dealer and players on my side of the table "how long do you think his roll lasted?" The dealer said 25 minutes. The four other players said between 25 and 30 minutes. But remember, I actually had timed his hand from the time he got the dice to the time the stickman said "7-out!"

    His actual time: 11 minutes.

    It seemed like it lasted forever, but it was only eleven minutes long. The truth is you can make a lot of money in eleven minutes. Remember that the average shooter has the dice for a total of five rolls, and that takes less than a minute and a half.

    This is why I question most "reports" from players who were in Vegas about shooters "holding the dice for an hour" or "holding the dice for a half hour." I don't really think they are aware of how time flies or how slowly it actually goes by. Remember, Vegas is famous for not having clocks in casinos and the craps table doesn't give you much time or reason to check your watch, unless you're like me and like to time shooters.

    Anyway... just give me a couple of 11 minute hands. In fact, just one 11 minute hand on 11-11-11 would be something worth talking about.

    If I can't make it to Vegas to shoot dice on 11-11-11 to bet "yo eleven" then maybe on Saturday on 11-12-11 to bet "yo and boxcars" the highs of craps.

    Alan, I received a promo in the mail yesterday from the Palms that has a myriad of specials for 11-11. One of them is for craps for shooting 11's. They're also giving players in general away $1111 every 11 minutes or something like that from 11am-11pm.
