Yes, This has been noticed before. I think the Wizard has mentioned it and others have observed this as well. It's apparent that the average people care more about table minimums than they do about anything else. I noticed in the tweet both tables were $10 min. I wonder if this was the case the entier time prior to when this was observed.

I have seen a similar thing with 6:5 blackjack many times. Have seen a 6:5 with 3, 4, 5 players 5 feet away from a completely empty 3:2 table, with identical rules. Sometimes it is a table limit thing. But I have seen the same situation with the exact same rules and table limits.

My friend, Bill, who's a forensic archaeologist and sociologist, was standing between two tables at the Bellagio. It was his first trip to Las Vegas.
Bill, obviously, knows how to do math. One table was single zero roulette. The other was not. He asked my friend, Del, why there were more people at the table with the worse odds. Del, to his eternal credit, said very loudly so everyone could hear, "Well, the people at this table prefer to get kicked in the balls once every so many spins. The people at this table prefer to get kicked in the balls twice."

    Why can't I own a casino? It's not fair.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

Agreed. Gambling is often a SOCIAL event. No longer does a man bring a bankroll to Vegas, give his wife five hundred dollars and tell her to get lost while he does some real gambling. There is often a group, they have to agree on a game, even some slot machines have "double seating" now. Some slots are Social Banks wherein there is a progressive that is limited to that one particular bank of slot machines. Indeed a new buzzword for the industry is Social Casino wherein there is affinity marketing, homogenous age groups and organized activities reminiscent of a Club Med.

But don't call people at The Venetian stupid. They are at an opulent casino, they are at the number one safest casino, the restaurants are top notch, the spa is top notch and the dealers are experienced and good. So they ain't stupid people. Now are they "sharpies" or "ploppies" or do they fall somewhere in between? As with any gambler his opinion of his skills and knowledge is often much higher than in actuality and also the sharpie may get out voted.

For many players if you start talking about single zero and double zero and European rules you might as well be speaking Greek. They don't know and they don't want to know; they just want another free drink.

The people are not stupid. They all have professions. My last living uncle, 70 years old at the time, a PHD and a retired college president of 22 years, knew I played machines for a living. In his retirement he and his wife started visiting the casinos on the Mississippi coast. He asked me how I could tell when the royal flush was going to hit. I had to explain to him that no machine is hot, no machine is cold, no machine is due to hit, the cards are dealt at random and one is simply playing the odds. He didn't like the answer. He wanted to know what the trick was. I told him the trick was in the math and started to explain video poker payscales and how strategies are derived. He told me he didn't have enough time left on earth to learn all that.

So I told him to just play when he felt like it, take as much comp as he could get, but don't play longer than he wanted to just to get more comp, as it would be cheaper just to pay for it. He seemed to like that answer so I left him alone after that. Some people just don't have the time or inclination to learn strategic gambling.

I wonder if all roulette at the Venetian is rated the same or if you get a “bonus” for playing the triple zero.
