Thread: Vegas casinos which give you room comps quickly after a small amount of play

  1. #1
Let's say I were to establish a new card at a Vegas casino, play a little bit (say, $2500 of coin-in at VP), and quit.

Which hotels are most likely to send me free room offers for this?

    2-3 months later is ok.

I did some experimentation along these lines last year, but it was typically for significantly more than $2500 CI.

My best guesses would be Plaza, and possibly the lesser Stations properties. I would not try this at MLife/Boyd/Cosmo. I can't comment on CET because I've been 7Star for awhile now.

My information will mostly be with Local ID. I used to use out of State ID at AZ Charlies Decatur and got some room offers. The host would call me all the time asking if I needed a room. My information is current and within the last 6 months. I did change my AZ Charlie ID though back to local because the Free Play and Food offers are better for me.

Also it will depend on what type of VP you play and how big your loss is. The rule of thumb used to be play whatever and put in so much coin but things have just changed and these days they care more about what Theo you are playing and how much you are losing or winning.

This is kinda low for VP. 2500 coin say at the Fremont will get you a courtesy comp at the Snack Bar or One Buffet but you have to ask for that on the day you finish playing. You might get an offer for a room with Boyd but once again IMO you need 10k coin in and I would shoot for 12k coin in at most properties. At Boyd right now I have been averaging about 150k coin in per month on my card. My last mailer was 200 in food comp and 580 in Free Play with 8 Free Buffets. The room offers are touch and go but if you call the host you can get a room for a few days... easier on Sun-Thur.

My mailers at the D are still decent if your looking for a 2 night stay. I usually put in 12k to 15k on a point day which come around once every few months lol. However I usually get that mailer for 9 to 12 months. I used to always get the 25 dollar FP each week for 100 total each month and 25 dollar food comp and a 2 night stay but for months now I only get the 20/80 dollar Free play per month but I still get the 25 food and 2 night stay.

The four queens will give you the staycation offer if your out of state ID but I prefer the Free Play offers with local ID instead. They also give me 100 in comp dollars every two months along with 100 Free Play every 2 weeks for 2 months which is 400 FP. This is Max.

The El Cortez will give you decent mail and you can low ball it over there. Actually it is better to low ball it over there anyway. You win too much or only play on point days and No Mail City.

Stations and the Palms give me room offers all the time but I don't see you getting that for 2500 coin in. Currently at the Stations I get 900 FP and 50 Food along with 10 Free Buffets, 2 night stays. At the Palms I get 1200 FP and 160 Food Comp and StayCations with FP attached. I could be wrong but that seems to be the max mail for these two properties. Fiesta Henderson gives me 600 FP and I forget the Food... maybe a room offer but not sure.

I think if you need a room you either need to bump up that coin in or play Reels but the Reels I like to play require 2k to 6k swings and enough time to spin off the jackpots.
If your coming to town and need a room for a few days just let me know and I can set you up with something. If your trying to get room offers rolling on a monthly basis you need to hammer it out more IMO.

Edit: The Golden Nugget gave me decent Room offers with out of state ID and lower coin in but they expect you to hammer it when you get the room or bye bye mail.

I'd say your best bet is the El Cortez and the D for low rolling but your still gonna need about 10k coin in. The nice thing about the El Cortez is you can take advantage of the ATM Promo and put low coin in to get mail rolling. You just have to stay very low under the radar. They also have a decent daily promo with the 1941 promo that gets you 10 dollar free play on 2000 coin in basically.

I’m assuming you’re looking for a possible replacement for your Rio WSOP free nights, so the closer to Rio the better?

As others have stated ITT, I don’t think $2,500 CI is going to get you much.

IF you don’t mind really slumming it, Wild Wild West is the only place nearby I could possibly see that working.

Up it to $10k, and you’ll have a shot at Gold Coast and Palace Station.

Dan I'm not so sure you're going to lose your comped rooms. I'm hearing that what was printed is not exactly what's going to happen. Bottom line is don't panic yet.

You're probably correct that I underplayed.

I got tired and the idea of playing more at that point was very unappealing. Plus I had to make a long drive that same day, so I couldn't just nap later.

I guess we will see what I get from the $2500 coin-in. Some have told me that Coast properties are very lax with room comps.

I don't want to slum it. I don't need a great hotel, but I don't want to stay in a shithole just to save some money.

Maybe next time I will try $10k coin-in. I will probably try larger coin-in on my first visit at properties which are known to give big comps for first-timers with a new card (maybe $50k coin-in, provided I can find some decent machines.)

Boyd properties (coast) do there offer differently based on if you are a local or out of towner, with out of towner offers weighted more heavily on room offers. But if you are a local, meaning used a local Id to sign up and have your mailer mailed locally, then your offers, are more heavily weighted to free play and food offers.

Room offers pretty easy to get though. And if you are looking for close to the Rio to replace discontinued room offers, Gold Coast is about as close as you can get. Hell they even have that relatively new walkway intersection (with red light) for crossing Valley view road between Gold Coast and Rio

The Cannery(s) might plus you will have the extra added value of a $200 loss rebate. You can do it at both locations.

I know they had been sending at least their new member's a few free rooms with much less than $2500 coin in.

Thanks for the Cannery tip. Will probably try that.

I heard about Boyd giving rooms to out-of-towners and free play/food to locals.

I have addresses in both Vegas and California I can use. I used a California address with Coast when I signed up.

Warning: Alan would have you believe loss rebates are worthless.

I dropped in at the Plaza one time for the loss rebate and played $1 VP for about an hour or so. That was two years ago and I still get room offers with a bit of FP.

  13. #13
Unless they started it back up again they no longer have the loss rebate. I assume your room offers are on specific days?

They do have fair VP pay tables and comp rooms fairly easy.

Well, my laughable $2500 coin-in worked.

    Sort of.

They just sent me an offer for two comp Sun-Thurs nights through April 18.

Actually I do need 2 comp rooms in April, but I need them on a weekend. However, if I just ignore the mailers, I should be offered them again in June and July, when I will need those rooms. during the week.

Also, it may improve anyway, as I've noticed some properties give you a crap offer initially, and then upgrade it in about 2 months if you don't come back in.

    Where?

    A Boyd property.

The free play is laughable, though -- at least so far.

That is very typical Boyd. If you have an out of state mailing address, they go heavier to free rooms. And the start off low balling. If you don't accept that first offer, they will up it in a month or two. It's like a negotiation.

I don’t see why you wouldn’t throw some play at Palms if you want to be at Rio for WSOP. Now they are part of Stations—love their locals—but that place is always an easy room comp. They have good VP. Get 2 different players cards with one CA address and one NV address and see what happens.

To the less than whale and the more than $100 or $200 buy in type of player, the Tropicana and Red Rock has been extremely generous IMO as compared to the mid strip places. Although their action is not on the same level but for the expereinced, player in reality, someone in the mid level buy-in range without tons of casino host references, those two properties are pretty aggressive if you do throw out your wagers. IMO.

Well last summer I put in exactly $2673 in video poker play in Gold Coast. I haven't played there for about 15 years. I have been getting free room offers from Boyd's but only for Gold Coast, Orleans, SunCoast and Sam's Town. I did not get comps from downtown Boyd's casino. Next week I am getting together with a school friend in Vegas and I know we will not be playing much so I don't want to hurt my CET Average Daily Theoretical so I made reservations for 3 nights, including the weekend for Gold Coast. Being a hotel guest should get me first shot at the Gold Coast to Orleans to Linq High Roller shuttle bus. It appears that Gold Coast is the easiest room comp of the Boyd's casinos. To the extent Dan Druff needs a place to crash during the World Series of Poker, it is walking distance to the Rio so the Gold Coast looks like a logical place to put in some action.
