I just got back from my morning lap around the casino. Flipped the TV on and it's the Kavanaugh hearings. The dems came out squealing like pigs and have been squealing like pigs ever since. They are obviously stonewalling the proceedings. It's going to be a fun week watching the dems get it shoved down their throats. As Barack Obama said "Elections have consequences."
PS, I'm sure the lefties over at WoV will be squealing like pigs about it all week too.

"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ
WoV has a new thread called Full Pay Deuces Wild +EV. There is some misinformation in it. Skip Hughes used to have a video poker newsletter and in it he coined the term "Not So Ugly Deuces" for the 99.73% game. He also coined the term Ugly Ducks for the 98.91% game shown in the screenshot below. Skip died in 2010.

In his articles and columns Lenny Frome referred to the payscale in the screenshot below as "Airport Deuces" and also "Illinois Deuces." It is a 96.77% game. He died in 1998.

In his world travels I wonder if Michael Shackleford has ever been to Shackleford Banks, a group of barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina. Mike surely descends from the Shacklefords of 1600's King & Queen County, Virginia. A branch of the family bought these Islands in the early 1700's. Right now there is a big concern for the Shackleford Horses, a herd of about 100 wild horses that live on one of the Islands. Big storm coming and not much high ground.

The burning man thing facinates me. It's basically the last thing I would ever want to do but people flock to it.
I've been looking at Burning Man videos on youtube for quite awhile now; I also subscribe to their newsletter: "The Jackrabbit Speaks."
But I've never gone there and probably never will, which is fine.
There is no greater expression of what it means to be a creative, caring human than Burning Man.
I am especially intrigued by the vehicles, as I am a "car guy:"
What, Me Worry?
I have done Burning Man twice. The first time we went the true "nature" or earthy way of camping outside. It was brutal. The communal showers have water rations. I forget how many gallons you got, but it was barely enough to get your body wet. No where near enough water to allow for feeling clean. I forget if we camped out 2 or 3 nights, but I know we left a day earlier than planned, went to Reno and took like a 3 hour shower.
When I was talked into....I mean decided to give Burning Man a second try, we went the RV route. This was a much better experience. Made the whole festival much more enjoyable. I don't ask for much out of life, but I need to take a proper shower....at least once a day, and I like a little air condition to sleep, when the temperature is in the 80's and 90's at night.
I am glad I experienced Burning Man. It's a bucket list type thing.
I too require showers... When camping, I can stretch it out a couple of days but with all that dust and heat, I'm not sure I'd make it.
I seem to recall a story about some camp that provides a shower similar to a car wash where a wall of anonymous hands scrub you... maybe I'm just too old, but that's not my jam.
I'm also fond of electricity and a data connection. I like rural, but with WiFi.
For the price, I think I'd insist on a water view.
Damn, y'all need air conditioning that badly? I gone most of the summer without AC....you know shit's real when you step outside to cool off.
The heat wouldn't bother me much out there, I don't think. But all that dirt n grime and crap...nah, that's not for me. I'd much rather a hotel than camping in a tent or even an RV.
The thing I mostly don't understand about burning man is it's just......I just don't get it. I understand why some people might like it, with all the "communal living" and whatnot. They're probably 99% vegans and others like them. Ugh.

BM has developed a world-wide popularity: it is not just for Californians.
The anti-establishment, anti-capitalist spirit is attractive to many, be they counter-culture types or high-achievers yearning to decompress with something awesomely out of the norm, if only for a few days.
The creativity, the art constructions, the neon and fire at night are wholly unique to BM and compelling to participants, as is the vibe of peace, love and tolerance.
Note that there is very serious of money and effort involved, both by the organizers and the participants who bring / construct "art" objects / constructs.
BM is wholly unique in the world, there is nothing anywhere that even comes close to matching it; it is levels of magnitude above the hippy-like "Rainbow Gathering" for example.
It seems also to be spiritually fulfilling for many, giving them hope both for their own future as well as for humanity.
Just look at the youtube videos on the subject and see for yourself: I did, and I think it's swell.

The Rainbow Family is in tune with nature. Burning man is not.
