Thread: I seriously considered quitting my job to become a full time Gambler. :/

  1. #1
About 10 years ago, I played $2.50 on 50 Dragons Slot. I got a full screen or nearly a full screen of the Dragon, the highest paying symbol and won about $1,000. I thought,"I just won roughly an entire month's wages on just one spin! I could quit my job to become a full time Gambler!" My next thought was," Shut up, that's a horrible idea! Don't quit your job to become a full time Gambler!" I listened to my second thought and am so glad I did. Quitting my job to become a full time Gambler would have been a HUGE mistake.

Funny...I thought of quitting gambling and getting a full time job.

But then I realized "Fuck that, you already retired...just roll with it."

You are lucky to be retired. I personally will have to work for about 30 more years before I can retire.

Im going to give you some practical advice, but I suspect it will fall on deaf ears.

Instead of gambling in casinos for the next thirty years, switch to gambling in the stock market; it's what the "Big Boys and the Big Girls" do.

Check your portfolio daily to stay engaged, to get a slim sliver of the "rush" you get from casino gamblin;.

You lack the tools to select investments on your own, so turn it over to a pro and select a few mutual funds that look promising, and every pay check invest the money otherwise earmarked for gambling into them.

    It's called "dollar cost averaging."

Ideally you'd invest all the money you're otherwise foolishly blowing now on gambling.

Yeah, stay the fuck out of casinos, Tasha, you cannot afford to spend your life pissing away your spare change, only to wake up at retirement age with only Alpo and dog kibble on the menu.

You can thank me, your "Dutch Uncle V" later...

I already realized just SECONDS later that I shouldn't quit my job to become a full time Gambler. It was a STUPID, fleeting thought and I then IMMEDIATELY was like,"What a STUPID idea. I'm not going to go quit my job to become a full time Gambler! I do have Stock in Walgreens, but for now, the money that was going into my Walgreens Stock gets allocated to my 401K.

That's good, but you really could be doing much, much better...who knows, you might even escape your life of poverty.

How much do you spend on gambling, with betting, bus fare, food etc.?

Invest that amount monthly in investments in addition to the Walgreens stock and your employer-offered 401-K, and reap the benefits over time.

Or keep getting hammered by the casinos...your call.

Oh I'm sure you win at itmes...hell, we ALL win at times...and I'm sure that over many years the sting of loss will feel much sharper than the flush of victory.

Just do the math...they don't build, equip, and operate all these gaudy casinos by paying out more winners than losers...

Oh, as for me, I am not a hypocrite as I fully understand the dynamics of casino gambling and can easily afford any losses over time and consider them the cost of my recreation: but can you similarly afford the losses over your life time?

"Economic inequality" is fueled by choices made.

You have to also take into consideration the fact that for a while, I was actually getting free rides on OTHER people's money until I got caught and temporarily BANNED and warned if I ever got a free ride on other people's money, it would be a permanent ban and that put an end to me getting free rides on OTHER people's money. So, I was getting free play, free Bingo cards, free points, free Promotions, free food using OTHER people's money.

So then maybe don't post your stupid, fleeting thoughts publicly... just saying. What good do you expect to come from that??

I just wanted to make a confession about a brief thought I had about quitting my job to become a full time Gambler.

Actually, I learned to play Bingo with an advantage after I got screwed by Bingo. I won Bingo multiple times after I decided to turn the odds to my favor and not against me. The Casino might call it CHEATING, but really it's an ADVANTAGE. The CASINO is at fault anyways for this CHEA, Err, ADVANTAGE. The Casino NEVER said we couldn't do this "Advantage," but they probably won't be too thrilled about it. But whatever, once again, it's THEIR own fault, LMAO,
