    555 = 111 + 4*111 = 15*37, or 37*15, as 153, and 7, or, 371, and 5. As 153 on 371, to 5/7 left, as 6 +/- 1.

I think that Tasha mixed up her idioms.

    https://mixedidioms.co.uk/runs-like-a-well-oiled-ship/

    well oiled

    1. Operating very smoothly or efficiently. Sometimes hyphenated (and always before a noun).

Their whole campaign has been well-oiled from the very beginning. The company has become a well-oiled machine under her direction.

    2. Drunk. Sometimes hyphenated (and always before a noun).

We spent the evening getting well oiled on local liqueurs. Several well-oiled patrons stumbled out of the bar, itching for a fight.

Maybe, people get too caught up in their winnings, who's jealous, to notice the less "finer" points of life.

We find ourselves "forced" to believe that which brings us further from the truth. We squander our greatest resources. Each other.

Funny catching up on our old friend Alan and Dark Oz going back and forth debating the death of a homeless bum while trying a backflip he was paid $6 for. It appears charges were filed and Alan as always is calling about Nevada laws and statutes and Dark Oz is saying it isn’t a lock the person is guilty. And Broke Billy gets involved and Alan tells him to stay out if it.

My personal opinion is Dark Oz is right, there is plenty of room for a not guilty verdict if it ever gets that far.

Besides this, I have to think that the numbers out of Sweden are far from accurate.

If anyone's interested, I address tableplay's speculations in three separate entries. The argument early re-openers make is superficially intriguing, but when you actually apply real numbers and some logic, the argument falls apart quickly and convincingly. More important is something not directly addressed in the entries below: the argument tableplay makes is not being made in a vacuum. If every other country was able to lock down for appropriate lengths of time without massive suicide/depression/drug use/domestic violence consequences, why is the United States populace and economy uniquely vulnerable? What makes American citizens and the American economy so fragile? If you are trying to make the case that the U.S. will suffer enormous bad consequences from lockdown whereas other nations did not, well, that certainly suggests something is psychologically wrong with Americans vis-a-vis the rest of the world, and something is wrong with the American economy. Whatever is wrong must be addressed, as this may not be the last pandemic this decade.

The following entries are not at all entertaining. They are meant to address the argument tableplay made above. I felt it was a fascinating argument, partly because of the presumptions built into it.

These articles are well-written, and, a three parter. I was so busy back in May and June that I lost touch with what was going on. Trying to catch up, a bit. I see that there is very little out there on these pros and cons to shutting down. Why is this? The only thing I can suggest with your own such articles would be to begin with their conclusions.

Anyway, after a lot of searching, here are a couple more recent online articles, which look more at health care, and, the basic economic numbers, respectively. The first one is pretty steady, but, the second one quickly tails off into oblivion, after mentioning that the US, and China, had the most to lose by shutting down, and, that, apparently, the reduction in air pollution saved a "significant" number of lives.

    Out of further curiosity.

    WHAT DOES CUCK MEAN?

A cuck is a weak, effeminate, unmanly, or inadequate man, who is often dominated by their female partner. It is considered derogatory slang.

Cuck has also been blended with conservative to produce cuckservative (often shortened back to cuck). Both cuck and cuckservative are used online by white nationalists to insult Republican politicians who are too mainstream.

Monet, I would imagine that it (forum participation by socialist VCT members) is because it is clear that for example a viewpoint(s) such as:
a large number of young hard-working people who are very unlikely to suffer significant problems from the Covid-19 virus will now suffer deadly repercussions down the line. For example a thirty-five year old person who would have lived to seventy five years old now dies of alcoholism at age 45 because of economic devastation (eviction, homelessness and the like) - I consider this a lockdown death and would count this in my tally of lockdown deaths. Massive currency devaluation due to government (Fed) stimulus causing the cost of living to skyrocket in combination with unemployment is a deadly combination. Many people who will experience this deadly combination are young, healthy, people who want to work but cannot and who are very unlikely to suffer Covid-19 issues. Modelable phenomena such as viral deaths (assumes the data used to build these models is accurate which it isn't) being compared to socioeconomic phenomena which are very difficult to model. Currency devaluation may not rear its head instantly, but again I consider deaths from this (dollar buying power being obliterated) as lockdown death tallies

Is a decidedly non-partisan viewpoint as are many of the viewpoints on various topics expressed by other VCT members - it is just common sense. Labeling a non-partisan common sense viewpoint such as the one above as far-right partisan allows one to dismiss the viewpoint as political, but the evidence of continued participation that you pointed out is very telling of the true understanding that many of the points here are simple, pragmatic non-partisan viewpoints.

Thank you for this very detailed response.
Had to re-read the words in italics a couple times over.
I realize you cut out my derogatory and sarcastic remarks in my full quote but do you have any information on the slurping noodles, oriental girlfriend or why a 62 year old grief stricken person would be googling Hot Babes at Mensa or elsewhere??

You and I are kinda movie buffs.
I caught the 1989 movie "Dad" last night.
Haven't seen that for about 25 to 30 years actually.
Not exactly a comedy but I laughed uncontrollably at many parts of the movie.
Usually, I am pointing out to my family, what is either going to happen to them or myself in the near future, if we live long enough.
I laugh because I am a bit twisted but I also realize those things can happen to any individual at any moment.
It also reminds me of why I think it might be better to go out on my own terms instead of hiding under the bed in continual fear.
I had a point for posting about this movie as it related to our topic but I've gone too far to continue.
For some more perspective, I am the only one I know who laughs uncontrollably at the end of the movie, Titanic, when they are shivering in the water.

True love is a special sort and degree of energy. It transcends itself.

Work = Force times Distance = Energy. Work is defined as force times distance. Work is a measure of the energy expended in applying a force to move an object.
Look, when the distance becomes infinite, what happens? One hell of a lot of stress. It's called "insidious loneliness". Hence the subtle-but-weird coincidence, F = m*a, to have work E = m*a*d.

Notice also that the * is on the eight ("infinity") key.

Thanks Monet, I'll have to putlocker "Dad" as I have not seen this one yet (I watched the trailer on youtube after you mentioned it). I saw most of Hopscotch (1980) yesterday (didn't tune in until after the beginning) with Walter Matthau over the air waves on the Movies! channel - comedic, light take of the intelligence community (6 1/2 out of 10).

My response to your question above is not particularly insightful however here it is -the filling of voids manifests itself in unusual ways. About as useful as what you would get from reading a fortune cookie's paper message but that is all I could think of.

    Cheers, tp.

    No worries.
Interesting note: Spielberg helped produce the movie "Dad" and on the Encore channels recently they have been running the movie "Always".
Ironically, "Always" is a pretty good 90 minute flick that most people forget that Spielberg directed.
I watched it over and over back in the late 80s, early 90s.
Kinda forgot about it for 25 years or so.
I must have watched it now 3 or 4 times in the last month.
Great scene with Audrey Hepburn as HAP as this was her last movie.
Ironically, she was getting her haircut in Roman Holiday and in this movie she is cutting the hair.

For some reason, when I watch "Always", someone in my house is cutting up onions for about an hour and it causes problems to my eyes.
Hollywood is good with the hypnotizing of individuals with music and visuals.
I like this guys homemade trailer on youtube because it doesn't give away the premise of the movie like some of the official trailers.

While a mathematical equation is not allowed to have emotional alterations or substitutions, I will take creative license to make numbers work.

If the individual with "insidious loneliness" is 62 years old, Let's agree that the work, or energy is equal to that particular age. Hence, the new equation could be:

62 = m*a*d If you assign the number 8 to the * (as mentioned earlier) and give the numerical positions to the alphabet (m=13, a=1, and d=4), summing up 6 and 2 will yield this final result:

    6 + 2 + 13 + 8 + 1 + 8 + 4 = 42.

Good questions, monet. I was posting here back when Alan Mendelson ran it, and there were good things to learn about going to Las Vegas from a bargain hunting, LVA kind of group of posters, although more people here were recreational, and a fair number were semi-high rollers. I criticized the stop loss, win goal, nonsense and "Singer's" various "systems." I did that mainly because there weren't many WoV style posters here with math backgrounds. So I have been posting here for quite a long time, and under my own name. In that sense, I have a certain investment of both time and energy in the site. I actually have been posting here longer than almost all of the current posters.

More importantly, the posts here were so egregiously anti-scientific when the pandemic began that I felt compelled to debunk the nonsense. I debunked it for two reasons. First, because I felt an affinity and respect for people like mickey and The Boz and yourself, who are high stakes gamblers. I'll throw somebody like tableplay in there, too, as he has been very helpful with me, math-wise, and I appreciate his assistance. However, I was stunned to see how many conspiracy-buff Trumpster-as-religion folks were here. Rather than allow you guys to echo-chamber your nonsense and put yourselves at higher risk, I stated the obvious, which has endeared me to all of you. I have, it turns out, been right, and you have been wrong. The proof has been in the pudding. The second reason I debunked the junk was because there are undoubtedly lurkers here who might have bought into the utter ridiculousness of two threads started with the title "Coronavirus is a scam." Yeah, sure it is. And since China handled it so well, as mickey stated in the post above, the U.S. handling it should be a piece of cake.

Cake is in short supply. Maybe the Prez ate it all. He doesn't like to share.

And you know, as well as I do, anyone saying I'm "trying to catch flies" is lying. You, Boz, mickey, you're all anonymous. If any of you figured out a way to try to buy anything from the site or from me, you'd report it front and center here. You've been pushing this nonsense narrative. Now if any of you could figure out a way to buy something from me for even ten bucks or twenty bucks, you'd have done it. But you didn't, and you can't. So you're just spouting the usual garbage nonsense. Regnis and I have gone back and forth regarding sports for years. I never tried to sell him anything. Ask Boz if I ever tried to sell him anything.

Fat, anonymous, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

Perhaps you are just taking a break from slurping noodles with your slant eyed girlfriend?

I didn't ask you or anyone for any help on CV. I just do the sensible things. You have been stuck like glue to coronavirus. Your whole life revolves around it. You are extremely invested in being right about all of your projections that no one asked you for nor cares how accurate they've been. I for one have a life. I get out and do things. I don't have a lot of time to sit around and do math on CV and scour the internet looking or any and all information on it.

I live by myself. I hit the casinos for a couple of hours in the morning when they are empty. I wear a mask. Wash my hands every 15 minutes. Stay out of the restaurants. Mostly eat at home or hit a drive thru using a credit card. Use credit cards at the stores. Watch movies. Play online poker tournaments. Do genealogy. And I get plenty of sleep.

So I don't have a lot of time to devote to earning a degree in infectious diseases. Never payed attention to the flu. Never got the vaccines. And I haven't had the flu in 40 years.

To me it's just a very very bad flu year. Sure, I'm taking precautions....but I haven't allowed it to take over my life like you have allowed it to take over yours.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ
