It is a 5 not a 3. It just looks like a 3 because it is in a clear glass frame and sometimes the light passing through makes part of the 5 appear to fade.

As an investment they are terrible.

Question:. Can you crack the glass and use them? I know almost every store I can think of will assume it's funny money and refuse it.

And I remember reading that those high denomination bills were relegated to bank use only although yes still legal tender.

A few years ago some AP had his thousand dollar bills confiscated by the police as a civil foreiture. When he proved his assets they gave him the regular money back but kept the $1000 bills.

He had to go to court to force them to hand it over. Specifically the large denoms bills
