One of the senior members of one of the blackjack sites, has several times posted about how he took out markers from several casinos, didn't pay them back and eventually 'settled' for pennies on the dollar of what was owed. This person speaks of this as an "advantage play". I view it a little differently. And clearly a peek into his character.

So several years ago this person claims he was robbed of bankroll, belonging to not only himself but teammates he was working with and mentoring. In the words of Mr. Gomer Pyle, "surprise, surprise, surprise!"

Sort of like that Gary Austin sports book circa 1985, down by the Sahara. They had quite a few outlier numbers, took a lot of action, then ("surprise, surprise") the book was robbed. Daylight strong arm robbery.

    Closed shortly thereafter.
Oh how I miss those stand alone sports books from that era Redietz.

And I had to google "inimical"

    Was this in Nevada?

Given the fact that it is a slam dunk for a casino in Las Vegas to have the prosecutor charge a deadbeat with a felony for failure to timely repay a marker, I find this surprising. Please explain.
The law in Nevada that you can be charged with a felony for not paying off markers hasn't been around all that long. Maybe ten years.

Edit: I was wrong on that. The law has been around since 1983.

Wasn’t Gary Austin in bed with Feist at one point? Or was it Jeff “Allen”. Seem to remember the name from the mid to late 80’s.

I honestly do not remember, but Feist at some point has been in bed with pretty much everyone, so not unlikely. I think "Jeff Allen" was a Mike Warren (aka Mike Laskey) umbrella guy. I could be wrong, but that's my recollection.

I do appreciate Boz's awesome vintage knowledge of this stuff. It's like watching a Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

My girlfriend informs me that she knew a few people with accounts at Austin's place. They never got their money.

Even though he doesn’t deserve any protection, I won’t put Jeff “Allen”’s real name out there but it is easily found. He did some prison time a few years ago when he got busted in the early days of offshore casinos. He had former Oilers QB Dan Pastorini as a cover service at one point when Dan was down on his luck. I don’t think he ever was linked up with Laskey, but was probably the biggest operation behind Feist and Laskey at their peak. Although Feiner may have been bigger at the time, operating out on Long Island. Stu is still there as pathetic as always, just a lot older and fatter.

Thanks for the kind words RE!

I think that you have that backwards. In any event, those words caused me to think of the word inimitable.

Oh, geez, that brought back memories. I remember Pastorini as a frontman. I think at one point Billy Kilmer was also a frontman. Boz, you are a treasure.

A good friend of mine who's also a partner gave me one of those old "Sports Service Reports" as a gift. The slick publication that ranked top 10 services, cleverly using seven or eight real ones, but reserving its top two spots for "services" that did not exist outside the Sports Service Report. I remember Boz mentioning it on another site. Boz, you and my friend Al are the only two people I have ever talked to who remembered and understood the scam.

They had a brilliant gimmick. They ranked services based on the results of a questionnaire included in the report. So if their group filled out a bunch of questionnaires, they had the facts on file to back up their claims and their rankings. No outside correlation necessary. It fended off anyone being able to actually call them a "scam."

They paid a pretty penny to print and mail those publications, too. Very nice slick magazine format.

I checked and Mr. Yung is correct. It appears inimicable is the rarer use, which surprised me because I never use inimical but use inimicable every once in awhile. They appear to have slightly different meanings although considered synonyms. I can honestly say I don't think I've heard inimical in conversation, but have heard inimicable.

  12. #872
Yes, both Billy Kilmer and sadly Johnny Unitas both worked for Warren in the 80’s. Kilmer never made much money playing so you could see how he feel for it, take a few pictures and let them advertise your name. Unitas was a different story, he was legend in Baltimore and owned restaurants and such. It was sad to see him you down that road but signing him was a coup for Warren and I’m sure it was a winner for him, obviously not for the customers.

I think and I’m digging deep for this but wasn’t Blazer one on the services in the scam book listed as the best service? They were based out of San Diego and the other one was listed as being somewhere in the Midwest.

  13. #873
Boz, you are correct. Blazer was one of the top two. I'm on the road, or I would check my copy for the other listed service. Blazer was definitely one of them.

Babs has really got a hard on for Nathan. She's very condescending to her. It's pretty clear Nathan is not the brightest bulb in the room. She should be cut some slack for it. It's easy to pick on the smallest guy in town but it doesn't show any class.

You do this a lot. It's pretty annoying. Glen IS a mature, reasonable, and valued member of this forum, and I don't appreciate you casting aspersions as you often do, and have here.

He made an error in phrasing that tripped the personal insult rule. He got a time out. You jumping on this thread to speculate about it, as you have done many times before, amounts to trolling the moderators.

Before you make another post ignorant about the situation like this one, I strongly suggest you click on the name in red, read the posts that person made on the day they were suspended, or the previous day. You will usually see what got said to cause the suspension, if you haven't already read it in another thread. And there is usually a post further down the thread, quoting the offense, and the length of the suspension.

Keep in mind that you're not the only one that does this crap, but you're generally the only one who doesn't know what you're commenting on before you make these remarks.
    BBB

aHHH...BACK TO THE "HOW DARE YOU ATTITUDE".

It seems that "how dare you" attitude went away for mission's accusors.

Maybe Nathan didnt give BBB 1000 dollars in rooms and food...so Nathan is on the bottom of the list for "protection".

Do you think if monet said the following, or if WoN said the following, or anyon else she was financially enriched by said the following it would be dealt with so harshly?

I'm shocked to see Glen G in red. What did he do? He seemed mature, reasonable, wise, and rational(Although I guess the "PM me for 20 percent off of Vegas shows stuff was kind of weird).

    ...NATHAN ON WOV

how dare you nathan,,,,to ask a question calmly without accusing anyonein particular....a general question,....and you are undermining the mods.

you know what to do nathan, ...accumulate some comps at a casino...and hand it over to BBB. We are not talking about 20 dollars off coupon. She is used to much more. Wine and dine her. Get her a room. And maybe even do her. She probably will go that way for the touch of another human being whos willing to touch her.

Here nathan went to a thread "discussion of the suspension list"....and asked a question totally ON TOPIC. Thats what the friggin thread is for. Yet she gets that response.

The comments by BBB were not out of order.

Nathan's posts often blur the line between innocent cupidity and dumb as a box of rocks stupidity.

I am more concerned about the suspension of Glen G, as in suspending him the wiz implied that he's closing a loophole in regard to the "no insult" rule.

Damn, it's getting harder to tap dance toward the line without crossing it over there.

It used to be one had leeway in attacking what someone said, as opposed to making an ad hominem attack.

Oh well, as they say: "life is change."

I guess Glen G has not provided enough financial enrichment to the wiz to keep him safe.....like QFIT.

But there is always the cheaper way to gain "protection"

    https://www.shmoop.com/quotes/gee-mrs-cleaver.html

on wov if one steps on the dead bodies of the punished in order to compliment the mod punisher for their action, so as to gain favor.....its a way to survive. Much cheaper than surrendering your comps to the mods.

surrender your backbone and self respect instead.....its a great trade off for some

Sounds like you're up to your old tricks again.

Just name names and be done with it.
