Perhaps you haven't heard that lots of musicians don't sign with record companies anymore. They make their own recordings and sell them themselves. As one musician told a record company exec "What can you do for me that I can't do myself?"
Now, larry you have advantage play reduced to "pushing buttons." If it were that easy why don't you go do it and make a ton of money. Anyone can push buttons on a machine but 99% of the public can't find the advantages in the casino (and that includes you). That's what advantage play is all about, having the knowledge and requisite skills to find and play the advantages. Button pushers are a dime a dozen, advantage players aren't.

Your ignorance is pervasive. I do it because it's worth 10K a month. Most of the button pushers in the casinos work their asses off for less than half that then go blow it in the casino because they are totally oblivious to advantages that can be found. If they knew they could make 10K a month in a casino they would be doing it....many of them quitting their jobs.
Believe whatever you want to believe but don't bore me with it.

All's fair V. I've never been "near riches". Of course, it may SEEM as such to the level I'm talking to here, but where I come from and what I've done, it's no more spectacular than what the everyday hard working man achieves along with the ability to know how to have a long-term respectable marriage. And what exactly am I today? Nothing more than someone who long ago prepared for a lengthy, happy, and healthy retirement.
Now to the bum. Someone who "pulled themselves out of the gutter" and claims to never lose while making $10k/mo. with two-bit gambling would be filing tax returns, he'd be staying at decent hotels instead of the cheap motels he says he frequents or spending the nights in his vanilla car, he wouldn't be bothering with an EBT card, his alcohol consumption wouldn't require "I Drink Alone" to be blasting from hanging speakers, and he'd have at least one friend that he doesn't have to conjure up from yesteryear.
In God We Trust.
You're only hurting yourself, Rob. Get help.

Sure sounds like someone with a happy and healthy retirement. Probably the poster child for happy and healthy. Maybe get some T-shirts printed up, "I'm happy and healthy." Or perhaps some tattoos. Happy on the left bicep; healthy on the right. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Sure you have.
You talked about earning $250K per year from your day job; presumably that job lasted for awhile and presumably set you for life.
You had every advantage, apparently: it's surprising the house of cards collapsed on you in '96, leading to your filing chapter 7.
What, Me Worry?

MC, the casinos did a blow job on your life. So here you are arguing with Singer. Lol.

You know, for a gambling site, there sure are a boatload of proclamations, opinions, and general non-factual information being broadcast as to what priorities people should have, what their goals in life should be, and how they should behave. Not much about gambling from the folks doing the proclamating (note to Bill Yung: once again, not a word).
So I have to think the proclamators (correct, also not a word) don't have much to offer vis-à-vis gambling or Las Vegas (really, how often is Argentino in Las Vegas these days?).
Now I myself don't have much in the way of opinion regarding life values and all that. If people want to be "normal" -- seems to be a priority for Mr. Yung -- and conflate addiction with recreation, I'm all for it. I hope people abide by the math and protocols of Mr. Mendelson and Argentino until the cows come home, but I do feel obligated to argue when they baldly state their math and protocols as something they are not, namely as ways to win going forward.
Maybe a "Las Vegas and Gambling Factual Information Thread" could be kept separate from a "Las Vegas and Life Opinions Thread."
Like I said, it's a gambling site, and gambling is about everything except what it really is. Nobody wants to talk about it. Eg, there's nary a whisper about problem gambling at the Wiz's. Everybody comes on to say that God proclaimed to go gamble. Not in so many words, but they do. (Gambling isn't really about which way is best.)

What, alan, is his recognizing that people post about most everything other than the 800 pound gorilla in the room hitting a bit too close to home?
I'm talking about "gambling addiction."
Yung is correct in that it is a subject oft overlooked, when it arguably should be confronted and discussed front and center.
I'd be willing to bet (see?) that most of the regular, long time participants in gambling forums do so to supplement their gambling action, to get just a small jolt of the dopamine generated when they gamble in the casino.
But I can understand our seeming reluctance to confront the obvious: it takes strong men to admit they are weak.
