OK, then why do it, if you don't "particularly like to do it?"

Why not spend that time doing something you "like to do?"

Or why not spend that time earning a regular paycheck from bona fide employment, be it a first or a second job?

I can see gambling to make a few bucks if you are retired or otherwise unable to work, but if a person's real goal is to make money then working at a job is the only right answer for all but a few, i.e.the few "real" AP's, whoever and wherever they may be.

But really, if you don't particularly like to gamble, and you don't need to do it to earn money to live on, it seems fucking stupid for you to gamble, especially given the other options offered.

Why not spend that time doing something you do enjoy?

My gambling is 90% seasonal, so it's basically a hundred days. I stick to what I do best. And it is the single thing I do best, so not doing it would be a bit of a sin. Plus I get to do things I do enjoy, and that I consider important, given the seasonality of it.

That's what made Argentino's claims that I was texting every day, trying to sell him something, so outlandish.

Having said that, 2018 is different. Legalization is on the horizon. Opportunities must be anticipated and structured. Plus last season's performance attracted some people who are going to expect me to do some different things, both in terms of writing and socially. So it's a brave new world. The fun for me will be plotting how to deal with all of the state-to-state differences and variables, and how that will affect Las Vegas and offshore sports books, if it does. Many differences of opinion regarding many things.

    I'm talking about "gambling addiction."

Yung is correct in that it is a subject oft overlooked, when it arguably should be confronted and discussed front and center.

I'd be willing to bet (see?) that most of the regular, long time participants in gambling forums do so to supplement their gambling action, to get just a small jolt of the dopamine generated when they gamble in the casino.

But I can understand our seeming reluctance to confront the obvious: it takes strong men to admit they are weak.
If you get married at a craps table I think it's a safe bet that person had/has an addiction to gambling.

If you can afford it, and you're not really hurting anyone, I say who really cares. Even if you can afford it, I would assume it can be bad for relationships.
I`m sure it was that lady`s dream as a girl growing up to get married at a craps table

And along comes MisterV to start calling forum participants "addicts."

    This site is a joke.

Alan did you see your namesake horse getting ready to run in The Derby?

  6. #1806
Would be funny if he ran 11th

  7. #1807
I see. 1 in 11. That dice problem. It could run 1 in 6, then.

Mendelshonn ran dead last. No surprise....he was a fraud....a shyster. I thought he might run 18th for good measure but he wasn't even up to that. Rumor has it the jockey has filed an objection....with the FBI. Says he was bumped at the start and felt unsafe the entire race.

You must have been a pretty shitty reporter alan, you can't seem to get your facts straight.

I didn't call you or anyone else an addict.

I only inquired of you, based on your typically snarky response to Yung's use of the phrase "problem gambling," as to whether it hit you too close to home.

I don't follow the horses, but if I heard correctly on the news, tonight, that horse's chances were 1 in 6.

I didn't read Yung's remark. Sorry but his writing confuses me.

Your writing Troll V, however, is clear. You've been trolling me for years and now you're trolling this forum.

  14. #1814
Alan, did you edit your post or did dannyJ?

I was just making a joke. I have no clue if you have/had an addiction to gambling or not.

Just because someone enjoys something more than they should, doesn't mean they have an adiction

Do you think you have a "problem"? yes, no maybe? I will believe whatever you say.

I told my GF a guy on the forum got married at a craps table. She said, "I bet that didn't last long."

Most people would think getting hitched at a craps table is a bit strange.

    No, not "trolling:" interacting.

You and I have posted on gambling boards for many years, and have had spirited disagreements.

Yeah, I've criticized some of the stupid shit you've posted, both here and elsewhere: that's part of the fun of these boards, and it is all in an effort to ascertain The Truth.

Ah, the truth: would you recognize it if it bit you in the ass?

Whatever alan, it's all just words on a screen: chill.

Oh yeah; "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones."

What kind of a loser thinks getting married at a craps table is a good idea? It just reeks of degenerate. And the poor girl. Let’s hope for her sake the “marriage” was a PSO!

I thought alan marrying at a craps table at Caesars was pretty cool.

    And the rabbi: nice touch.

Its so cool....yeah right....the only thing missing was the rabbi dressed in an elvis costume.

those gimmicky marriage ceremonies I am guessing...and its only a guess.....have a short marriage shelf life.

Its cool if you plan on getting married a dozen times in your life and you want to be able to distinguish between them.

if you are getting married "as a goof"..I guess then a craps table is as good as anyplace. A solemn ceremony with religious leanings, encompassing the union of 2 human beings in sacred vows of matrimony would naturally be "cool" at a craps table.

Also maybe at the counter of Nathans in NY NY if you happen to like hot dogs,

Or in the feminine hygene aisle of Walgreens, if the lady is fond of tampons

or maybe at the valet parking pick up......so you can kill 2 birs with one stone.....wait for your car, and get married.

or at a Uhaul place...where you can get a Uhal to move the ladies things to your home....and you can get hitched in 2 different ways

I am going to go out on a limb..........the cool" goofy craps table marriage didnt last........right?

  20. #1820
LarryS, are you the official website wedding planner now? Every marriage ceremony has to be a boring, old, nose in the air, formal affair by the book?

People should incorporate whatever is important to them into such joyous celebration. Baseball enthusiast frequently marry at major league baseball stadiums. Similarly with other sports enthusiasts including nascar. How many people come to Vegas and incorporate the whole Vegas experience? Only about a million a year.

I myself was married at one of the chapels here in Vegas in 2014. Elvis officiated. I am pretty sure it was the real Elvis and not an impersonator.

So, Alan took it a little further than most other Vegas weddings and married at the craps table. Or did he MARRY the craps table? Not sure, but either way, good for him if that's what made him and his partner happy.
