Thread: Lucky Dragon Drawing

  1. #1
I received an email today inviting me to a drawing in the Lobby of the Lucky Dragon Hotel tomorrow.

Seems pretty odd, since the casinos have been closed for a month now. It is my understanding only the Hotel is open. So why invite people to a drawing. It is not like they can spend money on anything else (unless they are checking in)?

I guess it is possible this was automated email that was programed to go out some time ago. Seems weird though...another case of not knowing what the hell they are doing.

They have to give away the progressive money.

Might as well do an update on this. Turned out to be a poorly executed fiasco in the hotel lobby. I stopped in around 4 and headed to the lobby. Must have been a good 100 or so people already there as lobby was pretty full. I quickly realized there was no legitimate line inside the lobby although there was a haphazard formation. The line was going to be outside with 10 or so people allowed into lobby toregister at a time at the hotel desk.

I went outside and wound up about 30 people from the front as there was already some people out there in the correct area. Once people realized what was going on they emptied from the lobby to get in line. There was a lot of people coming onto property for this drawing. By the time registration opened at 430 there were hundreds in line. Turns out only 150 or so got registered by 515 cutoff time. That was pretty much max capacity for the lobby anyway.

Then some Asian girl gives the tiny ticket drum a couple spins. She opens up the hatch and draws a ticket with your name printed on it and then you have the other half with a number. They call your name and number. The Asian girl would not respin the drum or anything. She was standing there looking at all the tickets for the 45 seconds before the next draw. Did she have a deal with confederates whose names she could plainly see?

One poor dude almost missed his winnings when he couldn't produce his ID fast enough. They were doing a 10 second countdown on him when he was right in front of them with his winning ticket which he had to show ID to get. There was a whole lot of pissed off people outside when the drawing kicked off.

So it was pretty much another Lucky Dragon boondoggle. Unfortunately, I was not a winner. I would have left before the drawing had I not gotten such a great place in line from the get go. After receiving my ticket and doing some quick math watching the process I figured it was good for there being only 125 or so tickets so I decided to hang in there after assurance that the drawing was going to kick off at 515 regardless of people outside, of which there were at least another 500.

Gaming was called since what they were doing didn't following the rules for distribution of jackpot funds. They can't shut people out. They have no clue who contributed to the jackpot money, so everyone should be eligible to win.

Gaming has no real power to really enforce anything upon
The casino's (they can arrest people who are cheating) , especially when the place is shut down. Basically, their stance was... ya, they are wrong, but not much we can do since they are shut down.

Even when you win your case with gaming they will send you a letter, and from what I can remember, it states they don't collect or force the casino to actually pay you.

For the most part I dont have an issue with NGC. From all my experience with gaming and what I known of others. Gaming control has usually been on the side of players( including AP's )and they make the correct call. Ocasinally they do get it wrong.

So how many winners did they pull and how much money did they give out?

The problem is that when they get it wrong, it can cost you a bundle and you have no recourse. They work for the casinos, basically.

I had a sizeable NFL future which was quite live at the Desert Inn. The wager had been made the previous playoffs for the following year. In the interim, the Desert Inn decided to close. Well before the closing date, I went in and asked the Desert Inn sports book twice about proper procedures in case it won. I called the NGC. I went in person and asked Desert Inn (non sports book) management. They all said the same thing. It turned out to be useless, as the addresses they gave me for the procedures were simply wrong -- and I think they all knew that. It turned out that the team I had chosen to win the Super Bowl the following year at 50-1 odds made it to the AFC title game (and lost).

Had they won, I would have (eventually) gotten the money, but only because I didn't trust what I was told and made copies of the tickets and such in case their procedures turned out to be wrong. And they were.

There was a casino host named Jordan there that i believe came from southern California. He repeatedly called us and offered great incentives to play there but never did make a trip there, the few times stopped in there was zero action. Place looked inviting like mini Macau but they just could not latch unto the right players and of course--nopt enough of them.

    First draw 11k and change
    7 more at 5k
    Total 41k

Basically 300 EV per ticket in drum if things were played straight. Not sure if it was though.

For my part in all this, starting this thread, first of all, I didn't realize what this was. I did not realize this was the distribution of progressive money that they are required to give away and thus an AP play. My apologies to my AP friends mad at me for posting. I honestly thought this was some sort of pre-scheduled drawing and the emails went out automatically (pre-programmed) even a month after the casino closed. I posted to make fun of how lame and disorganized and disconnected they were. Again my apologies.

If it makes anyone feel better, I was shut out. And I was shut out by 5 people. I was 6th in line when they cut it off. So there is a very good chance that my posting this opportunity drew extra people that actually cost me an opportunity.

That said I was pretty pissed when they cut off the line right in front of me. I got there about 4:15 and figured I was about 150th in line. Using MaxPens estimate that 125 were entered, maybe I was 130th in line. Same neighborhood. There were at least 200 people behind me. When the porky Asian broad cut off entry right in front of me, I told here, they were not allowed to do that according to gaming regulations and I would file a complaint. Of course she didn't care.

Follow up question for MaxPen or anyone else who was present and heard the winner's announced. Since MaxPen described the actual drawing process, that the person drawing could see and read the names....just curious, were all winners Asian names?

If it was only mentioned once about rigged drums and playing it straight I'd let it alone but twice? So much to comment here about playing it straight, drawing drums, rigging, employee theft, pre-shuffled Chinese decks, AP's getting 1000 a week in FP, AP's upset when accounts get closed with no notice, pointing fingers, hypocrites and on and on but at last who cares? The beat goes on. I am sticking my fingers in my ears, running out the door, yelling na na na na na really loud.

I called gaming, explained what happened. Agent said it doesn't matter, the casino can run the promotion however they want to. I said it wasn't a promotion, but it was the progressive money that is due to the public and the casino can't choose who to give it to. He disagreed, called it a promotion (wtf?) and said they can't do anything about how a casino runs a promotion. If that's not incompetence, I don't know what is.

Is this a rhetorical question ?

Apology accepted. Some punishment is warrented. I suggest we hit you with a Miata a few times. Don't worry it won't do much damage you can compare it to a bitch slap

    About 5 in lone Eh?

I know someone that was in the same group of people who had been cut off by 5 as well.

This is a legitimate question and even if the names were not Asian, odds are some kind of fix was in. Would anyone put it past this group from how they operated from the start? And if the Venetian can be busted for it, no reason a closed bankrupt casino wouldn’t do it.

Damn, now I sound like a certain WoV poster.

The winners were not Asian. All the better when the fix is in. There was actually one lady called that was not present. There was no advanced drum stuffing. Would be easy for the person drawing to have first ticket palmed for the 11k drawing. Ample time of about one minute between names to eyeball other confederates tickets in the drum. There was absolutely no excitement by the first few winners displayed. The last 2 were excited. Make of it what you will.
