Thread: craps rule

Back in the say in AC....at craps, I witnessed a shooter at a long table(he was throwing the dice toward me directly opposite....no setting). He has25 dollars on horn hi 12. He threw the dice, one hit theback wall and one veered off and hit the passline chips of a man next tom me standing next to the dealer. It landed 6 inches from the back wall right in front of me....and when it stopped on the second 6......it was called a no roll for not hitting the back wall. The shooter threw a fit and it wasnt overturned

So my question is.....can a player stop action and request that a roll not be counted if the backwall is not hit by both dice? Or is that only allowed by the casino workers.

Atlantic city while I was there was always so punitive compared to vegas. Back in the day you couldnt even cut accross the casino with a briefcase in your hand. While in vegas people are rolling large luggage through the blackjack aisle.

I was in AC from Day 1 when it was only resorts international.....and the attitude between them and vegas was night and day.

    This is Barney,

My bestest friend the LID plays the craps with most excellent skill. He calls out "no roll" on all of his sevens out if dices don't hit the wall. He evens calls out "no roll" when both dices hit backwall because he says he made a bad toss and desire a do overs. After 30 years of playing the game of craps all sevens outs have counted.

    Thank you very much

LarryS., they were obviously interpreting the rule in their favor.

    No recourse, their rules.

The shooter got fucked, but hey, that's gamblin'.
    What, Me Worry?

is there room for interpretation? or is just implementation

I am not sure what the rule actually is. If the "rule" actually leaves it tot he discretion of the house to implement and solely the house...then there is no recourse.

The casino can and would say "both dice have to hit the back wall."

It is up to them as to how to enforce it.

Had one die been short and it showed a seven, they'd have said "seven out."

I used to play craps alot in AC over a 20 year period so I would be remiss if I dindt include myself when I say.......are/were we fucking crazy for playing under those circumstances.

over the years consumers have taken great strides in getting rights

except in gambling. We accept what is laid down. Imagine if gamblers (like consumers) banded together and made statements...voting with their feet. Alas a consumer will boycott places for many type of mistreatment. But you never see that with gamblers.....gamblers are like cattle......when we enter a casino we should say mooooooooooo

Just look at their willingness to embrace 6 to 5 blackjack.

Wow -- this brought back an ancient memory I had actually completely forgotten. It was in AC -- I think I was staying in the Atlantis at the time. I don't know if it was in the Atlantis or Merv's place, but I had a briefcase and I was actually stopped when I stepped onto the casino floor from the walkways around the floor. I was told I couldn't be on the floor with it.

I had completely, utterly forgotten about this.

I think it's a combination of factors. First, the players assume there is nothing they can do, so they just take it. Second, gamblers don't want to lose their fix--if you make too much trouble you may be asked to leave.

I don't like to just take it from a casino or anyone. Somewhere back in one of these threads I described a time where I did take a challenge to the gaming board. We were playing craps at a local Northern Indiana/Chicago casino. We had a pretty good roll going. The shooter threw the dice and 1 landed on 4 (I think--dont remember for sure anymore) and the other die was spinning. The stick called 7 out while it was still spinning and started to reach to sweep the dice. I grabbed the stick while he was reaching and the die landed on 6 for a 10.

The stick, boxman, and pit boss all refused to change the call even though the 10 was staring them in the face. I insisted that they get someone from the gaming board over there. While we waited, I went around the table and got names and contact info from the other players and explained to them all that I was going to file a complaint with the gaming board. Most of them gave me their info.

We waited at least 20 minutes--then another 20 or so after the gaming board rep came. So the casino had a dead table for 40 minutes. The gaming board rep didn't have a clue and ruled for the casino--shocker there. All the players left pissed and they closed the table. So they lost all that play for nothing.

I filed a written challenge to the gaming board, and demanded a copy of the tapes. After a couple weeks a lady from the gaming board called me and said she had reviewed my challenge and it was denied. I questioned her and she really had no reason or answer. She also said she couldn't give me the tapes. I made it clear to her that I wasn't just some shmuck who was going to walk away. I asked her what the procedure was for further appeal, advised her that I was an attorney, and again demanded to see the tapes. Now she asked me to explain to her what happened, which I did.

A few days later I got a letter saying that they had reversed their decision and to tell them how much I had on the table at the time as they would order the casino to issue a check to me. I made up an inflated number, including what I should have won on the actual 10 that was rolled, and got paid. The gaming rep said she would contact the other players whose names I had obtained but I doubt she did.

I also won 2 other claims for slot players that I represented which ultimately led to the gaming board writing a new regulation in my honor and to preclude me from continuing to beat them an an issue relating to splitting of jackpots.

So apologies for the long post but you don't have to just take it up the ass from the casino.

I think your first sentence hits it right on.

Its the reason that customers are getting less value for the 7 stars, as rules have been changed in midstream. And there is no talk of organized protest. There is no real talk of voting with their feet. Casinos know they can do this...little by little take benefits away. Like the frog in a pot of warming water effect. As the water is incrementally raised in temp...the frog stays till he is dead.

casinos know this effect very well, and they know their patrons area bunch of meek frogs.

The economy is also too good, so non-gamblers that don’t know to care are playing and giving casinos exactly what they want. That will change. Hopefully Vegas rolls back some of these bad changes when it turns.

we are where we are today, when in the general near past the economy went to hell when the dot.com bubble burst about 13 years ago

it didnt improve during or after that....so I wouldnt expect things to chage based on economies going forward.

the only thing that will induce change is a negative effect on the bottom line. If the bottom lone is significantly effected....the change will occur.

complaints wont induce change. Threats to the hosts that you will take your business elsewhere will not cause change.

But actions that cause a significant decrease in profits,,,,,now THAT turns heads
