Thread: vulturing security feature ?

  1. #1
I was vulturing UX on a couple of All Star II machines. I had my player's club card in and money in the machines (maybe a dumb idea to have a card and cash in the machines before finding multipliers, but this gives me an excuse that I was just switching games if I get any heat). I had played off a few multipliers. When I started searching through the denominations and screens for more multipliers the machine locked up and said I had to get a hand pay (just to cash out about $20). So I got a hand pay. Then I moved to a different All Star II machine and started vulturing the UX and the same thing happened. While no one from security said anything to me, I had to waste a lot of time waiting for these hand pays, and so it got me thinking if these new machines with UX on them (as one of many choices) had a new intentional feature to dissuade vulturing (along with the rumored zeroing out multipliers after a period of time - I have never observed this).
I am posting this because I was wondering if any other forum members had experienced the same thing or had heard of anything like this.

    thanks.

It's because the tito system is down. I've had this happen a few times at my local casino. It has nothing to do with UX.

I think it was as jbjb described. The reason I was wondering was because I noticed that none of the people playing around me (5 people IIRC) had their service lights on and their machines were not locked up. Basically, if this had affected more people than just me, it would not have raised my suspicion. The last time I experienced a TITO failure, it affected "everyone" and the change people were going around cashing out people (upgrade to allow vp and slot machines to give same info that the kiosks provide - essentially making a mini-kiosk out of each vp and slot machine).

Even if it wasn't a tito thing, UX had nothing to do with it.

I have had this happen on all the all star machines as well it's just a glitch of some sort.

This is actually very valuable to know Axel. One interesting ramification is that the slot persons at some casinos only carry bills and no change. So I was given a $21 hand pay for a $20.25 lock up and $20 for a $19.xx lockup. Chump change obviously, but an All Star in a different country where the currency delta is much wider than $1.00 could be big if they only carry paper there (British pound comes to mind). Also if a players club card is in during the lockup it might lead to a comp points glitch. In some cases the lockup can be used to find out who is on duty which might be important for some reason or another.

You can induce an All Star II lockup by switching to UX and then constantly switching denominations and screens with the touch screen. Use your imagination after that. I'm sure there's tons of stuff I haven't thought of .
