Thread: DO disturb! Caesars properties to start ignoring Do Not Disturb signs in 2018

Caesars Properties will be entering each room once per day, even if there's a Do Not Disturb sign.

    I hate, hate, hate this.

Usually I would check into the property, hang a DnD sign, and not remove it until I was ready to leave. I would refresh the towels, soap, and shampoo myself by going to the maid's cart.

Now they'll enter every day, whether I like it or not.

    Thanks, Steven Paddock.

do you think its to cover their ass if a patron little by little uses his room as a armory like that gunman in vegas did at the concert.

It's probably a new demand from the insurance companies.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

Let assume a housekeeper "needs" to enter your room despite the "do not disturb sign." Assume you are in the room and meet her at the door. Will she have to push past you to check the bathroom, closets ect to see if there are visible weapons? What about hidden possible weapons in large suit cases? After all, if she is supposed to check for weapons, she should not take your word that you do not need anything and to leave you alone.

I wonder if CET will just do away with the "Do not Disturb" signs.

Reminds me of the "Paper Chase's hotel scene"

If someone comes into my room without reason, I’m fighting.

as long as they can claim that the maid opened the door and didnt see anything....i guess they are doing what they want to do for whatever reason

i dont think they are saying there is going to be a weapon search. As long as POLICY is that people cant stay in rooms without a maid opening the door...then thats what they want to show. Now if weapons are in a room after a shooting they can claim they did what they needed to do and the shooter just figuredout a way around it.

maybe they dont care about weapons , and just dont want someone using their bathtub as a meth lab.

    who knows....

Assume the policy is now in force; you are a guest at the casino.

You are in your room when the maid comes to inspect it; you lock it from the inside to prevent her from seeing inside.

She says to open up, you tell her no.

    What then?

Will security be called and if you continue to defy them will they call the cops and break down the door?

    I thought of another issue.

Ever check into more than one hotel simultaneously to double or triple dip on offers? I have and typically left the do not disturb sign on so it wasn’t immediately obvious I was not occupying a room.

I guess that won’t work anymore and so CET will be alerted the room is unoccupied and perhaps you will be flagged

Just stop in and mess it up. Run some water and get a towel and rag wet. Use the soap too. There are plenty of ways to maker it look like it's been used.

    I agree.

In fact, I did this at first when I was double-dipping offers, but then I realized it wasn't necessary and stopped bothering.

But yeah, just checking in and messing up the bed, then leaving, is enough.

Even if you are flagged for some security reason, it is unlikely it will get back to the marketing department and they'll figure out what you were doing. CET's departments have very little communication with one another, which is part of the reason there's so much fail there.

The weird thing to me is how SECURITY will be tasked with inspecting the rooms daily, NOT the maids.

Originally it was going to be the maids, but their union (I had no idea maids were unionized) balked, and CET backed down, tasking security to do so instead.

So how is this going to work?

Is security going to knock on every door which has a DnD sign for 24 hours, and then forcefully enter if nobody answers?

Because that's what it sounds like.

This is going to be a huge pain in the ass. I'll give you an example:

Say I'm at the Rio for the World Series of Poker on June 5.

    At 11am, I have a tournament there.

Overnight, obviously I have the Do Not Disturb sign on the door.

At 7am, the maid observes that the DnD is on there, and notes it.

So I wake up at 10:15am or so, get ready, put the DnD sign on my door (because I don't like people entering when I am not there), and play the tournament.

Let's say I do well and make Day 2 of the tournament -- so I get back at about 12am.

Day 2 of the tournament starts at 2pm the next day (June 6). So I go to bed maybe about 2am.

At 7am on June 6, the maid sees the DnD still on the door (because I'm sleeping) and calls security.

Security pounds on my door at 7am, wakes me up, and demands to inspect the room.

    WTF

Is this seriously what's going to happen? Because that would be awful.

Theft will skyrocket mainly because people will forget about this policy and leave stuff in their room. MAIDS STEAL SHIT.

Put the DND on the door and just stand there naked in silence when she knocks and enters.

    Edit to add:

I didn't see this part about the security coming in. Stay naked anyways. Now the security is going to steal your shit.

    This is Barney,

Some greatest info which causes me much sorrow but will save the LID much monies. Next time we are at CET properties he won't have to buy me any of the greatest movies which should save him about $60 a day...

    Thank you very much

a good point by Dan. A customer service nightmare when you know that sleeping during the daylight hours is very common in vegas,

But then again, someone that was awakened at 12 noon with a DND sign on the door.....is good for casinos that

1- have the person say "now that I am up I might as well go downstairs and gamble

2- toss and turn not be able to get back to sleep and when the evening comes, he is overtired while gambling....add a couple fo drinks...and you have the perfect gambler from the casinos point of view

Add this to resort fees, parking fees and tightening comps for reasons NOT to visit Sin City, at least not regularly.

maybe vegas no longer is catering to the 7 star type players on this board.

A few years ago I read for the first time, people were spending more money on food, entertainemnt, and shopping, then on gambling in vegas.

So maybe casinos are catering now to the needs of the general public...happy to take their money at the shows, at the restaurants, and if theyhave shopping..at the stores.
and of course those people also gamble...and they usually gamble poorly...so even a bigger bonus.

Whereas the 7 star players arent into the shows , food and shopping unless the casino pays. They are more knowledgeable gamblers. I think the casino would rather have 10 regular tourist gamblers betting 500 a day, then one 7 star gambler betting 5k a day.

the 500 a day bettor who also goes to shows and restaurants on his own dime, frequents the clubs .....is happy with a buffet dinner or a 20 dollar coupon for food. Plus he is less disciplined and will more easily blow his funds. If the casinos are going to spend X dollars on promotions and comps....I think this is the guy or gal they want to attract.

In the old days they would hope that this guy would eventually become a 7 star player over time....but not this new generation vegas visitor who is more into the shows, and restaurants and clubs. Gambling is not the highest on the "to do" list.

I dont know if what I am saying is true...but it seems like the value of the 7 star type players has lessened.

Re: "20 dollar coupon for food:"

With the proliferation of player's cards and the computer controlled comp system associated with that, do casinos hand out comps to players who ask any more?

I know they used to, "back in the day," but what about now?
