AZ Buffet seems good for me and mine.

    The Good
    ------------
    Corned Beef
    Roasted Chicken
    Turkey
    Pulled Pork
    Free Steak Upgrade (Good Enough)
    Soups
    Salads
    Deserts
    Made to Order Pasta.
    Pizza Oven (Time the Order)

Some Bad Items but not nearly the worst Buffet in the City.
As always the trick is to be first.
Get the food as it is just put out.
I never seem to have a problem with soup and salad if the Buffet is Horrid.

kewlJ getting spoiled from the Strip!

Ron's seems good enough to me when they give me 150 comp at my leisure.
Can I get a To Go Order... Thanks!?

Yeah, Mr Ron's is fine. I ate there earlier today. Had a nice steak and big baked potato. Was very nice.

I most certainly am NOT spoiled from the strip. I rarely eat on the strip. I am a low roller buffet guy the likes of Stations/Fiesta properties, Sam's town, Alainte, Orleans, Southpoint. Maybe it is just me, but I just don't care for AZ Charlies buffet at all. To each his own though.

Umm, Monet....do you take pictures of all your meals? Or was that a AZ Charlie picture?

Glad it was "before" he ate it.

This image was stolen from the internet.
I never have taken any pictures from Ron's personally.
Perhaps, next time I dine over there, I will snap one and post it.

I'm currently working a casino where the comp meter runs at .54%. The Prime Rib is $32 unless you have the card and the comp dollars on it. Then it's $7.77. Just hand them your card. I have the Prime Rib a few times a week.

I don't eat enough to make any buffet financially worthwhile for me, including (and especially) the buffet at Caesars Palace.

I've had the buffet at Suncoast often because it's free. I would never pay for it. There just isn't enough "good stuff" to make it worth even the card price of $7.99, however there are some things here and there that for free are excellent.

For example, at breakfast they have cheese blintzes that are really good. The pancakes are small but good so I just load up. Sausage links are sausage links and they're good.

Lunch and dinner on Fridays has New England Clam Chowder and believe it or not it's excellent. The meatballs in the Italian section are small but excellent.

Their steak is terrible. But I love their selection of sugar free pies, and if there's one thing Vegas has mastered it's the offering of sugar free pies.

The Caesars buffet has amazing food but I just don't eat enough to justify spending so much. I eat there when comped or I have the RCs and I have a guest who wants it. Otherwise I'm strictly Nobu for cod, mushroom soup, and an avocado roll.

I was very pleased with my Christmas dinner at Atlantis. Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry on the first go around. Steak and shrimp on the 2nd. All for free. Trying making all that at home. Just a scoop of Rocky Road for dessert. Will probably do it again New Years Day.

Although breakfast is probably my favorite meal, I have yet to find a buffet that makes "decent" let alone good pancakes. They all tend to be small and pretty tasteless. Also the bacon is rubbery at most buffets, I think from mass cooking. Exceptions on the bacon would be Sam's town and Golden Nugget, both seem to have good crisp bacon the way I like it.

Tuscany has the best pancakes I have ever had. Snaps at East Cannery is also very good. My first several years in Vegas, I lived in a condo right next to Tuscany and one or twice a week when I was out late drinking I would hit Tuscany's for their all-you-can-eat pancake special midnight to 6am. The days of my youth.

I typically avoid buffets unless they're comped or unless I'm with others who want to go, because I can't eat enough to justify the cost, and I'd rather have a little good food that I choose rather than having to hunt for something good to eat.

Caesars I will go to regardless but I have to eat lightly the day before and go for an early lunch to make it worthwhile. I've always had RCs or comps to pay but I'd pay for it if I had to because my crab leg consumption alone would justify the cost.

I will mostly use comps at other restaurants that aren't buffets if I can. Free buffets I will use only if there's not a huge line and there's only a couple that I would wait in a line to go in, only because they have numerous good things I enjoy eating. I can always find something if they have a salad bar and some food that isn't fried. While I don't typically have a problem with fried foods, the couple times I've gotten ill from buffets it has been when I've eaten fried foods (french fries, breaded vegetables, fried chicken, etc.).

That's all outside Vegas though. The only Vegas buffet other than Caesars that I've been to is Wicked Spoon once with a friend and a 2for1 they handed out on the plane, which made lunch $10 per person. I wasn't impressed and haven't returned.

I avoid fried foods except for one item: fried clams. I grew up loving Howard Johnson's Fried Clams. If I find anything like it, I devour it. LOL

Glad this turned into a discussion about Buffets.
I was aiming for this type of discussion.
    Glad I could help.

Yes, fried rubber bands we called them. They are sliced sea clam necks. Fried clams are another animal altogether. The best fried clams in the world come from Rhode Island and eastern Long Island (New York). If you ever come east Alan , Look me up and I'll hook you up with some of the best seafood in the world. Bar none. Ask Rob, he knows.
Take off that stupid mask you big baby.

Seems like the kind of place you picked up your first 3 wives.

Sorry Monet, nature of the business.

It took about a year or so but the Stations have assimilated the Palms.
I know I am getting old and having difficulty with change.
Looking back it is funny to be a part of the 18 years of change...

The Palms hit financial trouble in 2010, when it started missing loan payments. Under an agreement reached with creditors TPG Capital and Leonard Green & Partners, they each received a 49% stake in the property in November 2011, in exchange for erasing about $400 million in debt. The Maloof family retains a 2% share, with options to buy back up to 20%, and George Maloof continues to manage the property.

In May 2016, Station Casinos agreed to purchase the Palms for $313 million. The company subsequently began a $620 million renovation, and renovated portions of the resort began opening in May 2018. The three-phase renovation project was expected to be finished in late 2019.

Vegas is the only place I know where if your 400 million in debt the best way out is to put 900 million into the property.

Although it is on an infinitely smaller scale, this reminds of when the Meadowood Mall (Reno) food court Sbarro (pizza) failed a couple years back and recently a new Sbarro opened up in the exact same spot - after the failure of a couple food places (same exact spot) in the intervening years. What do you do when a business fails ? Why just open up the exact same one in its exact same place.
BTW, I think bankrupt Sears just got a new loan injection proposal by a hedge fund which owns a fuck ton of Sears stock - https://www.washingtonpost.com/natio...094_story.html.

Sears is fucked. Just about all the K-Marts in Montana have closed.

I think about all the KMarts everywhere have closed, same with Sears. With the latest list of closures I think there's one KMart left.
The writing's been on the wall for years with them and buying Sears just took Sears down with the ship. Years ago even their stores in Michigan near corporate headquarters were as dreadful if not worse than the ones in outlying areas. Contrast this with the Walmarts in or near Bentonville, which are well stocked with employees everywhere greeting you just like Sam Walton talks about in his book.

There were a few K-marts in LV not long ago, has that changed recently? Its been a while since I have been there. Walmart doesn't sell Levi's, but I'm fairly certain K-mart does.
