There was a time that Walmarts were a nice drive away from most homes. Maybe you would go there o weekends, plus not to long ago they didnt have grocery sections of any substance.
So the local supermarkets were for your daily food needs. Either there was no walmart near you or if there was there wasnt a good selection of groceries.

So supermarkets competed amongst themselves. Some had "double coupons". And they would make it up on other items that cost more, as they assumed they would give you a few dollars on a handful of items that you had coupons for...and you would buy an assortment of other items..and they can stay in business.

Couponing wizards were out there but not enough to cause much financial damage.

But then came the internet, and people shared how to get great combo deals with double coupons combined with a stores sale item(not a stores coupon item since combining coupons are not allowed). And on top of that more walmarts opened up(reno has 5 that I know of) with supermarket sections, and people learned that they can go to walmart and buy the non coupon items, and make a killing with coupons at the double coupon local supermarket. Most supermarkets across the country have given up on the double coupons.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooo,,,,,isnt the same thing happening with casinos.
People talk about having 3 rooms in 3 differently owned properties....and taking advantage of the "double coupons" that each casino offers(i use this term here to refer to the comps, freebees etc). Not giving any one their full bankroll business.
People discuss on the internet here and other places the best wayto take full advantage of the "offers", Like the supermarket customer, the casino patrons are more savvy and
The casinos have caught on as the supermarkets caught on. There are more casinos in vegas compared to 20- 30 years ago and they realize that a card member is as loyal as the next offer they get from their competitor casino

knowing this and seeing the sharing of info on the internet, and seeing people max out their offers......has made them crunch the numbers and come up with an answer that tells them less offers are in order.

They are not stupid. They know that even if they give you a great offer, you still may take offers from 2 or 3 others casinos..and split your time between all 3-4 properties.

they know people are reserving rooms in multiple hotels based on offers.....I certainly didnt know till someone mentioned the downside of the auto room visit even if sign is on the door.

so its all up to accountants, the bean counters. But the same fate of double coupons seems to be occurring similarly to the fate of casino offers and comps.
