No. It’s Danny devito. We’ve gone over this before.

That's interesting. Someone stopped me in New Orleans and swore I was James Woods.

I personally think they all look like RS.

I replied that I was taking a picture of casino while my bestest friend the LID was inside playing the video pokers. The nicest young man said he also was playing the video poker and was doing his ARTT strategies but was overcome by a most very bad smell. I told him the LID was employing his FART strategy for the Ult X machines to get the ploppies off the vp devices so they would be overcome by the smell and leave the machines with the most greatest bonuses on them. The young man said that sounded like a viable AP video pokers strategies which he would try to employ but had to continue on to different casino as he was romping thru the town.

    Thank you very much

Barney, can you please tell us who this grubby hobo is?

    Thank you

That must have made a nice change from people stopping you to tell you that you look like Mel Gibson in The Man Without A Face.

For a specific non-directed motion, speed = distance / time. But the enduring mystery is (what is) time, even though we already know that time is thus clearly related to these, and a few other basic physical quantities. Such is the case with all of physics, in that one quantity is always in terms of others. There is no one physical quantity that stands alone, hence is absolute. Were time truly continuous, then one event would meld into another in a way that we could not be conscious of its passing; but if time were granular, then we run into paradoxes such as Zeno's with motion, and its many interpretations.

How can a thing move if from one point or position in space and time to another? Let alone an infinite number of times from point A to any other point B. The math says that there are levels of infinity, with the zeroth level of infinity being the natural numbers 1, 2, 3, etc. For argument's sake, let's presume that the first level of infinity involves the real numbers, which are taken to be continuous. Within this simple continuity are many types of numbers, but still particular numbers, say, 2.3 . It's the infinity of levels of infinity of numbers that allows the otherwise-pointed continuities to merge into one that resolves the paradoxes of motion. The underlying numbers, or their points and positions, merge with the numbers we do see to help them connect, and then allow for motion. Or so, we are led to believe.

    I was thinking about atoms.

Those electrons are just humming around the center very quickly indeed.

Where did the particles to compose atoms come from, and what sets the ecectrons spinning and keeps them spinning.

Do atoms decay over time, if not why not?
    What, Me Worry?

atomic theory was thought to be soooo cutting edge when I learned about it in the mid 70's. What I learned back then is unrecognizable today. If only it were as simple as the good old days of electron and protons and neutrons. There are sub sub atomic particles that were never imagined back then. And in 30 years todays atomic theory will be no doubt shot to hell.
As we get more precise measuring instruments the theories get more precise and even get debunked.

I have no clue what it all has evolved into today....but what I did know back then is passe scientifically....and most likely outright wrong.

Just thinking of electrons bouncing around is justa tiny part of it all. Unfortunatley I know what I dont know so I can and will only leave it at that.

All atoms decay, but the half lives of some atoms are so long as to be considered stable. With regard to electrons, it is more convenient to think of their locations as a probability rather than an absolute point due to the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. Electron spin is a mathematical construct rather than an actual physical spin.

This is actually a well-worded summary of what goes on with the captured electron. However, this whole business of subsuming it to probability so that there is no physically real electron particle to fall into and stick to the nucleus of the atom, as might also their real waves, and in rather short order, is all too mathematical. There must be a balance of math with the physical to achieve a theory of theories, with a limit of limits.

We must, from the outset, concede some of the loftiness or exactness of "our" theories, to the physical stuff that we too quickly dismiss as just non-living. In this regard, ie, retain all four phases of matter of, eg, the electron, all along. For as well as the quantum energy states of an electron captured more or less in a nucleus, we have elections that may be classical, relativistic/non-, and then even a quantum-relativistic sort with their own unique properties - despite our current inability to fundamentally unite the two diametrically opposing theories. To equally attribute some of all of these quantities to also the physical material, itself.

Incidentally, "free" electrons may travel only at the speed of, say, in a wire, the minute-hand on a watch, but up to almost the speed of light in a high-powered electron beam. And can be calculated to have a non-point particle size radius. Furthermore, in a figurative sense, electrons can fall into and stick to, say, protons, with a bit of help, to make neutrons.

    This is Barney,

As my bestest friend the Max Planck says time and matter are some of the most greatest mystery in this dimensions. But to Max the most puzzling phenomena is why opposite sides of a dice always add up to number seven.

    Thank you very much

Barney, who knew you were so long in the tooth, given that Max died in 1947.
