Thread: screen of death

  1. #1
Has anyone encountered All Star IIs where pretty much every screen of the UX choice is 3s4s5s6s9H for every denomination and every theme except for very recent usage by a player ? If so, have you every seen next hand multipliers on these ? I haven't but maybe my sample size is too small.

    Thanks.

I hven't noticed anything like that but then I wasn't looking for it either. I'll check it out and get back to you.

I want to believe that is the reset screen in the event the game is turned off and back on. I used to see it all the time on one particular bank of machines, and no, I never saw any multipliers on those screens.

I could be wrong about it being the reset screen, though. Maybe it just goes to that after a while if a particular denom/game hasn't been played in a long time, but I don't think so. You usually all of a sudden see several screens like that at once.

It's a hard reset and the default hand setting. Why that one? No idea. Just turning it off and on or something like a short power outage doesn't affect anything. You'll usually see this when repairs are needed.

Also, this "default hand" isn't specific to just those machines.

Thanks guys much appreciated. A couple of things.
Item 1: In my initial post in this thread I was not clear by what I meant by these in the phrase

. What I meant was on the All Star II machines (with UX as the chosen game) that had death hands on them, did you see non-death hand screens on these (if there were one or more) machines which had next hand multipliers ? (I have not with my limited sample size)
Item 2: As long as the AS II software hasn't been "upgraded" and this is not a special non-default setting on the existing software (i.e. a timeout option that is not usually in place) that has recently been implemented, and these screens of death (reset screens) have always been an inherent part of the software, I have no problem with it. It's just that I have never observed behavior (the death hand being so prevalent on so many screens and during very busy casino hours with high UX turnover) like this until very recently on these very same AS II machines.

    Thanks again.

    TP,

    Item 1:

Yes, I have seen some denoms/variants on the death screen while at the same time finding multipliers on games that were not on the death screen.

    Item 2:

I can't tell you how long ago it started, or anything, but I'm talking about two years (or more) ago in the case that I saw it.

Actually, the death screens happened quite frequently at this casino. I strongly suspect the casino hard reset the machines intentionally to get rid of multipliers. I'm talking about once or twice a week that games that I knew were not on the death screen the day before ended up on it. If I saw it once or twice a week (and it was always the whole bank having multiple denoms/games on the death screen) it was probably actually happening more often.

Thanks for the input guys. So it's a hard reset and can happen for various reasons: multiplier resets, repairs, and others. I'm glad that it is not a software upgrade or change to the default settings - i.e. some sort of automated time wipeout (makes sense since a patron could go to the bathroom or take an important call and find their multipliers wiped out). I guess the multipliers that are observed on non-death screens are simply plays occurring after the hard reset.

    Cheers, tp.

    Tableplay,

You're welcome, but the real thanks is to JBJB who seems to be able to confirm authoritatively that it is a, "Hard reset," and as such, also gives credence to my suspicions.

I obviously had my suspicions before he said, "Hard reset," but I now believe them a little more fervently than I once did. While I make no absolute conclusions, this is the evidence I believe is in favor of my suspicions:

1.) It only happens on a hard reset.

2.) It happened multiple times per week at this particular casino. (Why would hard resets need done multiple times per week?)

3.) It happened on the entire bank at about the same time. (Why would the whole bank need multiple resets per week?)

I can't say for sure that it was done for the purpose of eliminating multipliers, but I can think of no other explanation for it to happen so frequently AND to the entire bank.

I can say for sure that the multipliers on non-death screens are a result of play taking place after the hard reset.

As far as I am concerned, this clears up the matter greatly. Thanks to Mickey,JBJB, and Mission146.
