Thread: Juice Fast

  1. #1
    https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/off-...eight-loss/77/

I was reading about Rigondeaux going on a 5 day Fast and struggling with it over at the WoV site.
This guy doesn't even own a scale? WTF do these APs do with their money??
Must be saving it all for the Old Peoples Home!

I felt he was doing it wrong. I also felt that 5 days is not enough for this "clarity" he was talking about.
It can take 4 to 10 days depending on you personally for your body to change gears and get this clarity.
The best thing you can do for the first week is to rest and sleep to get you out of the woods so to speak.
After that your body will take over and you can live on your fat reserves.
I have done it many times with or without juice. I have gone on two week water only fasts.
    5 day nothing fasts.
21 day Juice Fasts with Black Coffee as well.
I have also gone on Fasts where I cut out all Caffeine and you will go through at least 3 to 4 days of headaches if not more.
The headaches can be intense to say the least.

All this being said and since I have gained a bunch of weight since my last Juice Fast I am inspired to go on another long one.
I have been very busy eating Steak, Anything Creamed, Plenty of Noodle Casseroles, Pizza, Burgers, Sponge Cake... etc. etc.
I also need to use my Norwalk Juicer more so this will help.

It is getting close to Midnight so I will officially start on 8/20/2018

I will drink 64oz to 128ozs of fresh juice daily.
    I will drink water.
I will also have 1 to 2 Coffee mugs of Black Coffee daily.
If you study up on it you will find a huge debate on either drinking Coffee orally or taking a Coffee Enema.
After reading up on it I believe that the Math or Science proves that drinking is as effective and much easier to administer.
I may go off the Coffee and get off of the Caffeine all together during the process.
However if you study up on it you will find that Coffee has tremendous advantages in moderate doses as well as Red Wine.
This is more of a preference but I believe it would be better to be off it compared to on it.

I plan to do a 30 day Juice Fast but I may go longer.
I have always wanted to do a 90, 180 or even a 365 day Juice Fast.
It has been done many times by others and documented so I would not be setting any records of any sort.

I will tell you this... When your body kicks into eating itself you have an enormous amount of energy.
I find after the initial kick in phase I am not able to sleep longer than 4 to 6 hours a day.
After time passes you will hit a few walls going forward as well with weight loss and other experiences.

I will try to post up some pictures and daily data.
I will post up the Juice Recipes as well but I keep them simple.
The juice is a lot of work and prep.
However, it isn't much different compared to prep, cooking and washing the dishes with meals.
I for one own a few scales so expect to see at minimum my current weight and weight loss as I push forward.

Wagering on such an event would only cloud the issue and educational benefits.
I encourage you to Juice along with me instead of Wagering on one side or the other.
If you decide to buy a juicer and are wondering which one is the best...
The best Juicer is the One that You will use Daily.
You should drink your Juice down as fast as possible after Juicing according to the experts.
I have tried to make large batches and freeze it or put it in air tight containers but I find that it still separates.
I bought 24 special brown air tight bottles. I had a couple explode in my freezer LOL!
Needless to say I used those bottles for target practice in the desert close to the M.

What is the juice that you'll be drinking?

As I have stated earlier I will provide the Juice Recipes along with the data as I try to post daily.

However, off the top of my head to help you along. This is my usual for such things...

I am a big believer in Carrot Juice.
I like to peel my carrots since I do not grow them myself and for me, the Juice tastes better.
Although many "Juicers" swear that you should always juice with the peels on unless they are not organic.
Organic is a scam in my opinion unless you can grow them yourself.

When I have done this in the past I will Juice and drink 5lbs of Carrots alone daily.
I also like to mix in Apple, Celery, Beet, Parsley, Ginger, Garlic and Lemon or Lime.

I also get into juicing Greens as well.
I usually do a bunch of Kale, Broccoli, Spinach, Parsley, Cucumber, Lemon or Lime, Garlic and Ginger.

On Some days I will do Watermelon for something different.
I do not do any smoothies or blended drinks.
It is only Juice for me, which you will find a huge debate on if one should Juice or Blend the whole Vegetable.
Most likely a war for selling either Juicers or Blenders.
I am on the side of the Juicing Community.

I do eat half of a bulb of raw garlic or more a day along with a good portion of raw ginger during this Fast.
I mix in a teaspoon of Raw Honey that I buy from the Farm at Las Vegas which is supposed to be in its purest form so they say.

It sounds like you'll be drinking salads... not fasting. Nothing wrong with fruits and vegetables loaded with vitamins and nutrients. I'm sure it's very healthy and better than bacon cheeseburgers.

I didn't realize you were an authority on the word "Fasting?"
Must be your Jewish background or upbringing!?
You forgot about the coffee... not too much coffee in salads?
As usual, you are the smartest guy on the forum.
Is it a blessing or a curse?

Your new nickname is "Ace King Jack Rainbow."

    FASTING

Fasting involves abstaining from food, usually for a period of 12 hours or more, and has been around for a long time. It’s likely that our hunter-gatherer ancestors fasted on occasion whenever they had an unsuccessful hunt, or couldn’t find any nuts and seeds to eat. Fasting can also have a spiritual component to it, and is integral to many religions, such as the Jewish tradition of Yom Kippur, or the Islamic tradition of fasting during Ramadan. It’s also used prior to some surgeries and medical tests.

    DETOXING

A number of dietary plans focus on detoxing the body of toxins. These plans include elimination diets, herbal supplements, juice cleanses, and enemas. Detoxing dates back to at least the ancient Hindus, Egyptians, and Greeks who all used certain foods and herbs to purify and detoxify the body. Today there are many different detox diet plans. However, not all of them are backed by sound science. Be sure to find a plan that is based on scientific research.

    JUICING

Juicing or juice cleansing is a form of detoxing or fasting where only juices, water, and herbal teas are consumed for several days. These have become very popular recently. One benefit of juicing is to get more fruits and veggies into your diet. The downside is that many juice cleanses are made up predominately of fruit juices, which can spike your blood sugar. Also, eating your produce in juice form rather than consuming the whole fruit or vegetable means you lose a lot of the pulp and fiber, along with some of their vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients.

    Day 1

I was thinking I may just post up every week instead of every day.
Every day would be too much work and mostly redundant.

I had to go out and do some shopping to get this started.
I will be rounding up on all figures like time, expenses and weight.
I spent 25 dollars on the produce. I won't need to shop for 2 days.

    Beets
    Celery
    Broccoli
    Carrots
    Lemons
    Grapefruits
    Oranges
    Spinach
    Kale
    Parsley
    Cucumbers
    Fuji Apples

Some of the other items I already have in the household.

I thought my weight was going to be the highest of my lifetime.
    I was surprised that I wasn't 300+
I weighed in at 275.8 so call it 276lbs
No other way to put it I got Fat lol
I moved up to a 43 inch waste from 38/39
That is when I realized I might have a problem here. ha ha
I gained 41 pounds in less than a year.
Easy enough to fix but I need to change my eating habits.
20+ Years of Buffets and Steak House will do this to you.

My Goal is 30 Days from 8/20/2018
    Should Finish on 9/20/2018
After completion I will break into Smoothies, Bone Broths and Light Soups.
This is the rough daily plan.

64 ozs of room temperature water. https://thethirty.byrdie.com/drinkin...of-water-a-day
10 ozs - 40 ozs of Hot Water with Lemon/Cayenne/Fish Sauce.
64 ounces of Fresh Green and Carrot Juice.
8 ozs of Fresh OJ/Grapefruit or Watermelon Juice.
6-8 Cloves of Minced Garlic along with 1-2 Tablespoons of Minced Ginger.
1 Teaspoon or less of Raw Unfiltered Honey to help get the Garlic and Ginger down.
8 ozs of Freshly Ground Black Coffee, courtesy of the Palms.

Time Spent doing this is considerable.
It roughly takes 1 hour round trip
3 Hours of Prep, Juicing, Drinking and Clean Up
You can plan on 4 hours per day.
Financial Cost will be around 10-15 dollars per day.
    Plan on $400 per month.

Mix in some light workouts in the Pool,Steam/Sauna
This has no bearing on the Juice Fast/Feast though.

    Day 1

I seem to be out of practice. I ended up making 80 ounces of Juice on my first batch.
I juiced 16 ounces which is two cloths of pulp pressed twice.
I drank that straight down after pressing because the Professionals say the more it sits the more it loses nutrition.
Of course I had to do this 4 more times so it took a good half hour or so.

So far today I have consumed...

80 ounces of Fresh Juice (5lbs of Carrots, 1 Large Stock of Celery, 1 Head of Romaine Lettuce, 3 Beet Leaves, 1 Apple, 1 Lemon, Some Ginger)
    50 ounces of Water.
    12 ounces of Black Coffee.
20 ounces of Hot Water mixed with sriracha and a few drops of fish sauce.
I ate a spoon full of pulp since this juice has no pulp in it.

The whole theory of Juicing like this with no pulp is to get all the nutrition into your bloodstream immediately.
The more pulp or fiber the more your body has to break it down.
It seems that I am out of Australian Spirulina.
I didn't notice because I haven't messed with it for about a year.
Looks like I have to order a few bottles of that Fish Food.
Mixing this with Juicing is pretty powerful according to the experts.
I prefer the green tablets to the powder though.
I researched this garbage for hours before and found that these guys make the best in the world according to some scientific study that was published.
I don't like the idea that they charge an arm and a leg for shipping but whatever...
    http://www.australianspirulina.com.au/
    https://secure.server101.com/austspi/cart/

Anyway... Time to clean up and that should take 30 mins or so.

    Day 2

Total Financial Cost Since Day 1
    25 dollars (Produce Only)

    Time Spent since Day 1
    5 hours

    Starting Weight From Day 1
    276lbs

    Day 2 Weight 273.4lbs...
    274lbs

Weigh yourself when you first wake up you will always weigh less.
I slept decent for 7 hours.
Slight Cramping from getting Old and No Fitness.
I woke up with a Slight Headache but that is normal with this process.
Headaches should cease after the first 5-7 days.
    I took a Shower.
    I brewed some Fresh Coffee.
I did some paperwork and some posting.
No Fatigue and Plenty of Energy.
Slight Fog but that is Normal and should subside in the first week.
One downside is your urination will increase.
    Your Bowel Movements could Cease.
    They certainly will liquefy.
If this bothers you, you can research herbs and add protein or fiber.
You do want to get as much out of your bowels as possible though naturally.
I will get into it more later but you can research it for yourself as well.

So far, this is what I consumed today.

    12 ozs of Black Coffee
24 ozs of Room Temperature Water
24 ozs of Hot Water mixed with Sriracha and drops of Fish Sauce (Three Crabs/Vietnamese Brand)
80 ozs of Fresh Juice made with a Norwalk Juicer

Prep Time, Juicing and Consumption took 1 hour and 30 minutes.
I took some Photos for interested parties.

The Whole or Dry Ingredients are as follows:

    2.5lbs of Peeled Carrots
    8oz of Spinach
    3 Stalks of Celery
    2 Large Stems of Kale
    1 large Crown of Broccoli
    1 Large Peeled Beet
    1 Peeled Apple
    1 Whole Lemon
    Some Ginger

I pressed out 80 ounces of Juice and Drank it in 25 minutes.
Not everyone can do this. This is 5lbs (5.22lbs for you sickos) of Juice in your stomach.
Not to mention I drank 2.5lbs of liquid an hour or so prior.
Try to eat 5 pounds of these Vegetables in 25 minutes!?
    Not very easy!

Two Cloth Bundles equal 16 ounces of Fresh Juice.
I Juiced 10 total for 5 Wide mouth Jars.
I juiced 16 ounces and chugged it.
Repeated until all Pulp was Juiced and consumed... took 5 Sessions at 30 minutes.

Notice how only 1 Beet will Turn everything Deep Purple.

    Mission accomplished.

Last 2 days I prob went well over 1k calories but stayed under 2k. Very little protein.

My grossly unhealthy and prohibitively expensive meals each day were. Avacados with hot sauce and olive oil. White mushrooms with bell peppers sauteed in butter and olive oil.

Mixed in some pickles, blackberries, macademia nuts and dark chocolate.

Not optimal for keto but hopefully the low protein kept the autophagy humming for an extra 2.5 days so that I never die.

Interestingly, I look a bit fatter now than at the end of the hard fast though I'm pretty sure I have been running a calorie deficit for 2 days.

    Tomorrow I'm going ape.

    -------------------------------------

I totally disagree with Rigondeaux and all the others who believe in...
    Ketogenic, Paleo or Atkins.

I really believe he should buy some sort of a Juicer.
The ability to inject your bloodstream with nutrients and have no hunger with plenty of clarity is AP.

I just love it when they tell me to eat all the butter and burgers I want but don't eat bread!
Yesterday was Bacon Day... Eat some Bacon... Bacon is Keto right lol!?

Anyways... those interested in losing weight and keeping it off and changing their dietary lives can compare what I am doing here to them at WoV.
Some of the Real Obstacles are...

    1. Mental - If you don't make your mind made up to change and commit daily it doesn't matter what you do.
    2. Time - You have to have plenty of Time but no more than cooking your meals or sitting at a Restaurant.
    3. Funds - You have to be properly funded but if you can afford trips throwing axes in Vegas and riding Wheels and going to Atlantic City... you can afford this.
    4. Exercise - You have to implement Exercise into your daily routine.
    5. Focus and Determination - You have to have the ability and willpower or strength to say No to the old ways like... Ice Cream and Cake or 6 Packs of Beer.
    6. Partner - You have a higher success rate if you have someone doing it along with you.
    7. Equipment - You have to have the Proper Tools. Don't buy Inexpensive Equipment.

    https://ketogasm.com/the-bacon-experiment-interview/

I am not on board with these guys that think like this above Link, even though they have some data to prove short term results.
I would like to know if they are invested in Pork Bellies!?

Might as well Eat a Tube of Toothpaste and Wash it Down with 2 Gallons of Dead Orange Juice!!

    Day 2 Recap

I noticed I forgot to add that I juiced 2 Cucumbers (Peeled) as well in that list.
I also drank another 60 ounces of Room Temp Water with Lemon.
This brings my Water Intake Total up to 108 ounces for Day 2. Almost a Gallon!

    108 ozs of Total Water
80 ozs of Fresh (Raw/Live) Juice
    12 ozs of Black Coffee

Total of 200 Ounces of Liquid Only.
I have missed Two Days of taking Fresh Garlic and Ginger with Unfiltered Honey.
I will start this up today if I don't get too lazy.
I also purchased 2000 tables of Austrailian Spirulina ($340)
I will start adding 6-10 tablets per day. 5 per day would be a years supply.
This is a bit of a Financial Cost but works out to about a dollar per day and is Optional.
You can always buy cheaper contaminated Spirulina as well or use something else.

I have not adopted a Gym Routine as of yet.
I do plan to start light workouts.
I have two memberships so might as well use them a bit.
In years past I used to get aggressive with the Gym but I don't plan on that anymore.

    ---------------------

    Day 3 Preview

I slept 7.5 hours and woke up for weighing in on Day 3.
I had some problems with the reading.
It would jump from 268.8 to 269.2 depending on where I moved the scale.
I will have to dig out a (New) Scale from the Closet.
Either Way this is Water Weight anyways and other things.
Men Drop Weight much Faster than Women.
As Always I don't think too much of it and just Round Up.
This will bring us to 269lbs

7 Pounds Lost in 48 Hours.
Expect these numbers to drop until about 240.
We should hit a wall around that time.
Of course this is more longer and aggressive so the Wall could come at 220.

The usual Routine of Shower and what not so Far for Day 3.
Some slight headache from position of neck while sleeping.
Less cramping compared to Day 2.
    Some Online Gaming while drinking...

24 Ounces of Hot water mixed with lemon, sriracha and fish sauce.
12 ozs of Room Temp Water

    I will update later.
I plan to break the Juice up today for two sessions instead of one Large One.
Smaller Sessions are better but can be a pain.
You could bottle the Juice and it will keep but I prefer to drink it asap.

I took a picture of the numbers on the Scale.
I cropped out my feet since I don't think you want to see them.

    Day 3

Total Financial Cost Since Day 1
    -----------------------------------
    $25 (Produce Only)
$340 Year Supply of Australian Spirulina (Optional)
    $365 Total Expenses

    Time Spent since Day 1
    7 hours

    Starting Weight From Day 1
    276lbs

    Day 3 Weigh In (48hrs)
    269lbs

See above post for Day 3 Preview

I wanted to try to make about 40 ounces of Juice for Juicefast.
I ended up with 60 ozs
I went with more of a Green Juice and Less Carrots.

    1.25lbs of Peeled Carrots
    1 Bunch of Parsley
    1 Half Bunch of Celery
1 Half Head of Romaine Lettuce
    1 Lemon
    1 Peeled Apple
2 Large Kale Leaves and Stems
    2 Peeled Cucumbers
    4 ozs of Spinach
Double Ginger Today (good sized root)

It took me 35 minutes this time from start to consumption (60 ozs).
I did 80 ounces Faster Yesterday somehow!?
Most likely will take me 20 minutes to clean up.

As far as mood, hunger, clarity and other things go.
I feel really good. I have done this before with the same results.
Always High Energy after drinking Fresh Juice.
I always seem to gain more energy as the days move forward on this program.
The initial phase usually lasts 5-7 days but this time I seem to be progressing faster.
The most important thing is having your mind right.
After the initial phase I tend to not be able to sleep much.
Usually only 4 to 6 hours a day with massive energy.
Something about not having the waste in your system to bog you down.
When I go Ape like Rigondeaux I tend to sleep 10 to 12 hours.
This is because I eat very heavy. I have gone Ape for about a Year now.
I will have to change my whole dietary structure after this and implement Juice Fasting as well.
It wouldn't be a problem to have a day or two of Ape but it can spiral you back to the old ways.

I plan to do another session for Juiceupper. 20-60 ounces.
I will have to go shopping for Tomorrows Run.
3 days for 25 dollars of Produce. $8.33 average per day.

Did you actually read all of these posts or this blog, if you want to call it that?
I literally covered almost all of those questions at the end of post #13 before your post #14!
Not to mention in almost every post I went through those questions and gave some details.
Either way, who cares, at least you are the only one asking questions or making comments!?
However, I am posting this for me, first and anyone else that wants to follow along, second.

I suppose I didn't address the grumbling in the stomach.
I get some of that and at times when you put this much liquid in your system you can hear and feel it rolling through your body.
This is normal. Every time I have ever done any form of fasting I will go through this bit of noise in the body.

I do want to give a short review of the Norwalk Juicer though.
    I have the 270 model.
If you buy a new Norwalk Juicer it will run you about 2500-2600 dollars.
I decided to buy Two Used Models for 1800 total.
I was thinking I could tear them apart and work on them and use the parts when things break down.
I did tear them apart and upgrade them with new materials but I find it to be daunting.
I don't think the Juice that you get from these machines is worth the Money nor the Maintenance you may go through.

I do like that it is all Stainless Steel.
I like that it is American Made but most likely all the Steel is from China Scrapyards anyway.
The machine is Heavy... 60lbs+. I like the idea of that.

The two part system of crush and press with cloths is time consuming.
However, if you like your juice pulp free it has that advantage.
I have had a few other juicers and this juice does taste slightly better. Slightly!

I was going through a no plastic kick when I bought these.
I got rid of everything plastic and switched to Stainless and Glass.
It is near impossible to get away from plastic these days.

In my opinion you are better off buying a less expensive Juicer.
Even if you get this Juicer at half price you still are better off with another Juicer.
This is because of the work involved.
I would recommend the Tribest Slow Juicer for around 300-350 Dollars for an Upright Juicer.
If you are going to do leafy greens you are going to want to go with something like the Tribest Greenstar or Greenstar Elite.
Another Juicer that is supposed to be easy to clean and use and give high quality juice is Omega VSJ843.
The Omega is around 400 dollars and most likely the best bang for your buck.
If you are really interested you will have to take hours and days to research and make your own decision.
You will have to go through some trial and error as well.
I type this out to help you not make as many errors as some of us have in the past.

Of course you can get a 40-60 dollar juicer at Walmart but the Juice will separate immediately.
As they say though the best juicer is the one you use daily.

This is a duplicate post from Tasha's Lottery Thread.

It seems to me that APs are pretty excited over at WoV about what they eat every day and Health and Weight Loss.
I admit that Rigondeaux did inspire me to finally get back to healthy eating, juicing and fasting.
So I will post up some of the meals I prepare for my family when we/they don't go out to eat.

I whipped this up in 15 minutes for my Uncle for his Lunch.
Plus 8 mins of Shopping and Travel Time.

    Sockeye Salmon.
Pan Fried in a Cast Iron Skillet with Butter and Olive Oil.
Served on a bed of Creamy Lemon Butter Sauce.
Cooked Skin side down and presented Crispy Skin side up.
    Braised Asparagus.
Smashed Potatoes with Lumps because that is how he likes it...
    Id rather use my Ricer.

    This meal costs $6.50
I put this in here because I know they are concerned about every dollar.

I admit the presentation was off center which irks me.

    Day 3! Part Deux

After running around some Casinos and doing some shopping along with cooking lunch for the Uncle, I am wrapping up the day.
I drank 10 ounces of Ice Cold Black Coffee. I wasn't having any headaches or wanted the Caffeine but I enjoy the taste.
Coffee is very controversial and usually when I get on a health kick I knock out all the Caffeine period.

I drank a bunch of Water during the day and just finished up my Juiceupper.
    This is what I consumed.

    1.25lbs of Peeled Carrots
    1 Peeled Cucumber
    1 Peeled Beet
    1 Bulb of Garlic
    1 Ginger Root
    1 Lemon
    1 Lime
    1 Bushel of Parsley
2 Large Kale Leaves with Stems
Half a Head of Romaine Lettuce
    Half a Stock of Celery
    Half a Crown of Broccoli

I left 1 Apple and 4 ounces of Spinach out on my counter.
I will use it for when I start on Day 4.

This batch made 70 ounces of Juice but I gave some away.
I drank 56 ounces for a total of 116 ounces of Fresh Juice.
I was 12 ounces away from 1 Gallon of Juice for the day.

    Total Consumed for Day 3

    116 ozs Fresh Juice (Raw/Live)
24 ozs of Hot water mixed with lemon, sriracha and fish sauce.
60 ozs of Room Temp Water
10 ozs Ice Cold Black Coffee

210 ounces of Liquid Total for the day.

It took me 30 minutes to Prep, Juice and Drink.
I have yet to clean up entirely.
