Thread: Free play reduced

I like how everyone came out of the woodwork after my post.
    Obviously nobody got the joke.
You have to watch the youtube videos of Singer and Mendleson.
Singer talks many times how he breaks high cards and other goofy holds to go for straight flushes.
I guess I have egg on my face which is odd because I haven't any any food for over 3 weeks.

Correct me if I'm wrong on any math or logic -- or more interestingly, how would you figure out how to determine the odds of that, or something like that (given there's co-variance) occurring.
One approach would be run a sim (900,000 draws) on 5-play 8/5 BP (as I did - please see the results in the screenshot below) and then use the quad cycle found there as the probability of success parameter in the binomial pdf.
For an exact solution, you would want to calculate the probability of a 4K for each possible optimal hold after the deal (prob of 4K after being dealt a scratch hand, prob of 4K after being dealt and holding two pair, prob of 4K after being dealt and holding a high card, etc.), and then use the binomial pdf for the five-hand solution for each of these holding scenarios (probability of a 5-hand 4K on zero of the 5 hands for a given deal-draw for each holding scenario) and then sum them together.
Anyhow, for the simulation, the cycle is around 412.6 hands (prob 0.002423457), on average to get a quad in five-hand play and so (using the binomial pdf) there is about an 0.002314% chance of observing no 4ofaKs in 880 deals.

I'm not sure what a good first-time coin in amount would be but I would suggest at least $20k in a single day. You should then get mailers that have $150-250 in free play or gift cards to show up and a play up feature where you can get an additional $1,000 for 100,000 points so all together worth 1.15-1.25% on top of the slot club. This isn't the greatest for 8/5 Bonus but there are some other choices around with a better EV where you can get a decent amount of coin in. Just don't try to play the "up to 99.8%" games.
Was the only reason you said to specifically stay away from the “up to 99.8%” machines just because there are higher return games than those, or did it have to do with the theo they put on those machines? One thing I heard on another forum that made me think of your comment on that; I heard the theo on the multi-game machines was set to a fixed number. Meaning that the theo doesn`t change for the specific game you`re playing, it`s set to a static number on the whole machine. The post was made a long time ago though... Anyone know if this is still the case? I have a feeling this is the type of thing that has probably already been fixed, at least in Vegas.

I hardly use VPFree but since I play this bank a good bit on point days now I was curious.
So I just checked them out and they don't have this bank or game listed.
They don't have everything listed on that site.

I think it is best not to play the 5 dollar game.
Although it will more than double your hourly I believe it will draw too many red flags.
Not so much from the coin in but if you hammer it you will constantly be locking it up.

I am not sure if that particular bank is rated per game or as a whole.
I do know that it gets a far better rating compared to other games.
One of my family members birthday is coming up and I was able to get an easy 400 dollar comp for our party.
My point is that you are at least playing a break even game but you should be at 100.2% with your point day.
That translates to 20 dollars per hour without any extras with some variance.
If you count in the backside comp and mailers you will be surprised what that game is worth.
If you could just hammer 5 dollars all day and night you would be at 50 dollars per hour Flat.
The problem is I have yet to find a Casino to allow me to just hammer 5 and 10 dollar machines all day long without making adjustments.

Boyd let me hammer the 5 dollar Triple Bonus Poker Plus at 99.8% with comps and mailers and what not but you can see what they did to VP now.
The game wasn't so bad with the Young at Heart Promo but if you didn't like Variance you would opt for NSUD or JoB.
They had an NSUD 2 dollar machine that would give you double points (.6%) all day and night for months before they fixed it.
If you played dollars or 5 dollars it wouldn't double your points but if you played 2 dollars, it did it every time. Go Figure!?
I miss that machine. I expect all the serious APs to be in here telling me how bad playing for a .2% or .5% edge is.

The best I ever found was a $1-$5 dollar VP machine with 99%+ games that was supposed to have cut card points, but instead gave points at the slot rate - and it lasted for a few years. Now it is gone.
