About 2 years ago I was starting to get burnt out of the Casino Lifestyle.
I kept talking about how I was going to slow down or retire for awhile.
I even took a few Vacations to try to mellow out.
As I was about to slow down I found a few good spots like the Westgate and a few other things dealing with mailers.
I pounded it pretty hard again.
Recently in the last 3 months I have been going slower and watching my mail start to slip.
I haven't really been able to find anything great and it has been mostly a grind for the most part.
I heard some people have been taking advantage of the SLS with the Loss Rebate Program.
I already signed up all my pals long ago.
I certainly do not want to round up new members.
I am sure the sharpies on these forums are killing it day to day in the Las Vegas Casinos but I could use a break.
Not only from online but in the real world I have been hearing of the resurgence of the Casino Royale Promotion.
Yet again something I did long ago.

I never liked to buy and sell things but recently I have had a change of heart.
If you can get Free Stuff it seems to get even better.
I just want to start out small and see if I can make a 50 dollar a day average since I am a Noob.
I think I am going to sell my car and buy a brand new Pick Up Truck.
I could buy used and save more but I have a reason for buying new that doesn't need to be shared.

So the first order of business for me is to clear out items in my house and sell them via the internet and/or a garage sell.
I still have about 50 bags of Coffee that has about 6 months before the expired date and they were all comped so that is straight cash.
I have some guns that I don't need or use that I can sell as well but I won't take any loss on them.
I would rather hold them if I had to actually take a loss on them.

Some of the interesting things to me are using Kohl's and other stores to buy discounted items to resell or flip.
Obviously some of these Corporations are like Casinos and will 86 you if you get flagged.
As usual I will have to figure out what can fly under the Radar.
I have seen items at Kohl's in the discounted rack that are priced at a couple of dollars.
Usually they have chips or some other defect but at times I have bought them for personal use for basically nothing.
I also notice if I use my 30% discount and buy items on sale I can resell them for break even or a small profit.
I can earn Kohl's Cash and buy other items and just sell them for 100% profit.
I was reading about people flipping Dyson's and getting banned because they were constantly buying 5 at a time.
I am not looking to pound it that hard. I wouldn't doubt that I can get Free Items as well.
IMO I don't have to pound them to make a profit. I just need to figure out what the thresholds are.
I can also have multiple accounts which will help avoid detection.
At times I have used my 30% discount without using my charge card with the right cashiers even though you are supposed to use your card.
Paying in cash will help as well and better to use a scratch card instead of my mailer which can be traced back to me and my address.

Some other interesting things are the Free Section on Craigslist.
You pick up and haul items that you can re-sell.

Another interesting subject is Thrift Stores. Books seem to be able to be resold at 10x your investment.
Other things as well in those stores can net a profit.
Once you look into that you have to start going to Garage Sells and other things.

It has all been done before and this is nothing new.
I do not think it will be easy at all but I think a 1500 dollar a month average is possible and a low ball estimate.

I am going to mess with it a bit and I want to blog or post up about it on this forum.
I suppose I could start my own blog about it and am told that you can generate income from blogging and traffic but I am just messing about.
Anyways, I am looking forward to sharing the experience with you all with pictures and stories.
I also believe members on this site have knowledge and expertise in this arena and I hope they share with us.

Here's another AP play using Kohls. I don't know if you can do this at every Kohls, but here, if you buy anything on Amazon you can return it at Kohls. When you do return it at Kohls, they give you all kinds of Kohls cash for your trouble.

    Wait a second.
You buy something on Amazon and take it to Kohl's for a full refund!?
After that they give you some Kohl's Cash on top of that?
If so, I guess you have to limit the amounts of time you do it per year?

I have had a Kohl's Charge account for a long time.
    Maybe 8 years or more.
Not exactly sure because I never used it
You make it sound like I am at Kohl's all the time lol.

My Grandmother and Aunt used to live at the place.
I never liked the whole system of Kohl's Bucks and coming back over and over.
I hardly sign up for other reward systems like that.

Recently with my diet change I had to buy some things like a Food Processor and some other items.
They always send me the 20% and 30% mailer.
So one day a few weeks ago I went in and used it and earned a bunch of cash back.
I bought the items I needed for my own personal use.
I used to buy Nike Shoes there years ago when you could use the coupons but they changed that long ago.

So I was just thinking of ways to go about making daily cash.
Just internet searching like the rest of the American Population.
Started reading about Sourcing and Reselling or Flipping.
These guys are doing it from no money or scratch.
I have plenty of funds and time to do something like this.
I don't really like to shop but I thought the idea of getting Free Stuff and Selling it at a Markup could be pretty straight forward and simple.

Don't get me wrong. I don't really care. Most likely will lose interest in it eventually.
I thought it might be fun to write about it on here and it would motivate me to actually get going.

I didn’t know about it until I had to return something from amazon. I was actually just gonna keep it cause I didn’t want the hassle of boxing it and taking it to ups. Then I saw you could return it to the kohl’s right by my house. Done it a few times now and got kohl’s cash each time. Joked that I could make a living doing this. But I really don’t ever buy much stuff.

Be kind of cool to get backed off by kohl’s!!!

I recently stumbled on this forum:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/Flipping/
I think there's a lot of good information there but I haven't really delved into it as much as I should have. There's a ton of other forums that are more specific to selling venues (ebay, amazon) off to the side that may also be useful.
We're coming to the end of the main benefit for living where we do so in a year or two I would like to relocate and downsize, which means getting rid of a ton of stuff that we don't really need and I really don't want to have to move. I just have to get off my ass and do it.

While there are many on the bandwagon now, there is a ton of potential for making money in the reselling business. You already have the discipline to get yourself to the casinos as you need to for timed promotions and stuff like that, you can just apply that to getting out there and getting stuff to sell, and then getting it listed and sold and shipped out. Estate sales and garage sales can be a goldmine if you know your stuff - not as good as they used to be but there is still potential there. Even Goodwill - I roam through the one next to the grocery store occasionally and even as much as they do online sales now (between amazon and their own auction site) - I still see things just sitting there that I know I could make a few bucks off of if I had the discipline to do it.

I don't know anything about the buying and selling of new stuff, or Kohls for that matter. I kind of avoid that store as I don't really need anything and whenever I do end up shopping there I end up in a revolving door of Kohls Bucks where yes I probably saved money but ended up with more crap that I probably didn't need.

So I probably have ideas to type up as you go, and maybe my own stories to share if I get motivated here.

    Thanks again pkspins!
The internet is full of information about reselling small items or flipping.
Dropselling is another discussion but it seems more like a scam to me which is fine.
I am ok with scamming. Heck I will probably lift a few items while shopping anyway.

It seems that in America we have become pretty lazy and would rather pay 1000% for items if we can just click and go instead of actually shopping for them.
I dunno... seemed like something fun to try for a little while. Worst Case Scenario is I don't like it and lose some cash and time.
If that happens I will find something else.
Always have the Poker Room to fall back on.

    Backed Off!? LOL
They will straight 86 you from online sales and cut you from the credit card/mailers club if you abuse them too hard.
At least that is the way I understand it and have read about.
Guys buying 5 Dyson's and Roombas at a time online and using all sorts of portals, discount codes and what not stacking up the savings.
Reselling for a profit and going back for more. Kinda dumb since buying 10 vacuums at a time will raise serious problems or red flags.
No reason to be so darn greedy since you have other places to exploit and you can do plenty of it from your own house in your underwear if you like.

I rather get out and about for some exercise.

So I went to a nearby Thrift Store and bought 83 dollars worth of merchandise.
They missed a few items under my cart but that is by far an old, easy tactic that hardly fails.
I bought mostly 2 and 3 dollar books.
It seems that most of the books that I bought are selling in the 20 dollar range and that is the norm from the way I understand it.
That is still about 800% profit after fees. Even if it is 500% that is good for me to start out.
I am not looking to get rich I am just messing about trying to learn something new.

I ran into my first professional on my first hour doing this basically.
He came into the book area about 30 mins after me with a scanner attached to his cell phone.
He had earbuds in listening to something from his phone I suppose.
He went to work on the cart that had the most recent books scanning each book as fast as possible.
He scanned over a shelf I had been on and took a Nike Book that I passed on because I'm a noob and my cart was getting full.
He had about 4 books when I left after scanning a couple of shelves.
He looked like a professional poker player who never says a word and listens to music as he keeps folding or raising.
I probably should of tried to get sociable with him to learn a few of the ropes but I'm a prude.
He showed me enough with his scanning attachment so I got some free information.

On my way out I picked up a complete set of Lincoln Logs for a Dollar.
Seemed like a score to me but who knows if I can sell them!
I ended up investing 83 dollars total in a few shirts with sports teams on them and mostly books.

Plenty more places to hit up but on certain days you get bigger discounts but I am guessing they are more busy.
It won't take long to pick up on this side hustle.

I bought this book for a couple bucks.
It is supposedly a collectors edition but even if not it is still worth more than I paid for it.
If it is regular it is going for about 15 dollars which is 7x.
If it is a collectors edition it is going for 45 dollars which is 22x what I paid for it.
The other editions I have seen online do not have the 25% circle on the cover.
So that might decrease the value.

I will update as time goes by on how I did with my inventory.

    I am rolling already sorta.
I made my first ebay sale for 1,125 dollars.
After Fees my Pay Pal Account has $1092.07
So they basically took out 33 dollars ($32.93 actually).
Someone else can do the exact math but that seems around 3%.
I thought they would take more for some reason.

I am not well prepared. I didn't realize that item would sell so fast.
I have to create a UPS account to print the shipping label.
I need to get a box and some packaging.
    Busy, Busy!

I have another large item like that and after I get this ready to ship I am going to list it as well for 1500 plus shipping this time.

Have fun with the taxes on those EBay sales. I'm not sure where the point is that you start generating tax forms from sales with them but heard it is pretty low.

My wife is into some of this type of stuff. There's a whole industry built around counterfeit coupons and counterfeit gift cards. I don't know much but my wife does. I will see if I can add something.

  12. #12
Wow that's a fast sale. I don't know the current ebay rates for sales but I know you do get so many listings free each month. There's a breakdown on there somewhere.

You are right - this is a side hustle, with potential to be your main hustle. Kind of like APing in many respects when you think about it, with the buying market being the variable rather than the casino mailers etc.. There's huge potential.

There's a lot of info online about the various scanner programs. I haven't gotten too much into reading on those as I have tons of books to sell already that I can just sit and look up on Amazon at my leisure. The Amazon book selling thing seems really easy and they have it all laid out with standard shipping charges and stuff. You just have to get some poly mailers to send them off media mail and you should be good to go.

This buyer could be a problem anyways.
I am seeing some problems with the user name and email as I investigate.
Feels like someone is trying to trick me somehow.
Although Paypal has confirmed the money and will release it after shipping confirmation but still feels phony.
They say it is no problem if you send it with signature confirmation and insurance but something just seems off.
The user name just created an ebay account.
The user name is not registered with pay pal.
Many people online say this is normal but once again it feels funny.

From what I understand the taxes don't kick in until you either sell 20k worth merchandise and have 200 sells.
I have also read that taxes start at 400 dollars.
Thanks for your concern though and it is good to see you actually posting something.
You must either be busy at the SLS or some other juicy play you found.
Now that you aren't a working stiff anymore you are probably crushing it even more inside the Casino!

I'm really not playing anymore now than when I was working except for the first month, then I think I burnt myself out.....lol. I have been devoting more time to personal things that I need to get done. Got a new dog, replaced washer and dryer, selling Jeep that I don't use, and finding new hobbies. I bought a $3500 bicycle a year ago and now just getting around to riding it. Used to ride alot when younger before career stuff got in the way. Going to join some riding clubs soon. Joined a gym to get in shape. Taking up disc golf which was fun when younger and still fun today plus good exercise.
There is way more to life than a smoky casino. Casinos just enable me to enjoy that life more with time to actually take it in now.

I took up the sport of ladder golf, aka ladder ball, about five years ago and it is great fun.

A perfect backyard game: my buddy / competitor and I have gotten quite proficient at it, which of course makes it more challenging.

Best of all it is a natural for a couple of baby boomers: a very 420-friendly game.
    What, Me Worry?

I called E-Bay and they said the funds are in my account and will be released when I ship out the package.
They said that if the Package goes to the intended address and nobody is there and it gets sent back to me that I get to keep the money and the product.
    What a twisted system!

I bought this book for 4 dollars!
I noticed on Amazon that the lowest price for a similar product is 33 dollars plus shipping.
Some other listings have it at 50 to 90 dollars.
I would sell it for 25 dollars lol
It is in near perfect condition.
The only problems are some slight wear on the outside but the interior is Mint, IMO.

You can't tell from the picture but the Emblem or the Logo is Metal.

I made a mistake with some Tom Clancy books though lol.
I am going to eat 6 dollars on those 3 books.
I suppose I could sell them for 1 dollar and shipping but I doubt they will sell.
They are in Very Good Condition.

Sunset Park is the big place for Disc Golf from what I was told long ago.
Dogs are great, no doubt about that! Riding a bike... ahhh thats for 12 year olds! Jeeps are Cool! Mine got Stolen LOL
Right after I put about 6 grand of new parts into it! My own Fault for being lazy and leaving it in the outside parking area for a week or two.
Nobody to blame but myself on that one. I just listed my car for sell anyways... going to by a brand new truck and use it to make cash with.
The car thieves seem to go after older vehicles because the parts are hard to obtain and easier to break into and sell.
Hopefully they won't steal my new truck. Not sure what I should get just yet. The choices are endless. I found the Jeep fun but uncomfortable and more of a toy.
The floor got really hot after an hour or so and it just isn't practical for daily use. I will get far more use and comfort out of a truck.
Oh yeah and 5 brand new monster tires on it didn't help matters with the car thieves! Hey they got to eat to, I understand.
You should of seen it... stripped clean to the bone! They did a nice job! Real Professional!
Damn Engine only had 44,000 miles on it!

I suppose we have more to life than a Smokey Casino!
We have Non Smoking Areas in the Casino and Smoke Free Poker Rooms!!

Look at this guy just giving away...

    https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/zip/...706790565.html

12 Boxes of Quarry Tile and some
    Coverage: 1 box = 11 Sq.Ft.
Color: Red Blaze & Diablo Red
    Must take all

    This isn't so great.
    You need a Truck.
    You need Storage Space.
You have to take the time and effort to pick it up and lug/haul it.
You actually have to find a buyer.
However it sells for around 25 to 30 dollars a box.
I just find it interesting people giving stuff away for free on CL.
In the last 15 years I just put stuff on my curb, on the street and it is gone within the hour.
I am going to mess about and see what it is worth to buy and sell or pick up free and sell.
Can an individual actually make serious money doing this or even just enough money to make it worthwhile?
Am I able to focus enough and not lose interest lol. I am pretty sure that is what happens to most people with anything.
Just lose focus or don't care enough.

I have a close friend whose sole source of income is selling merchandise on Amazon that is purchased at a construction business outlet. Income is okay, about $30k a year, but her house is her warehouse filled with toilet seats in boxes, lighting fixtures in boxes, door knobs in boxes, even small furniture items. Here's the kicker: the outlet in Vegas gives a 10% discount to casino employees and a discount to anyone with a casino players card.
