I originally raised this issue on one of the threads about the analysis of Rob Singer's video poker strategy. One of the key points of Rob's strategy is to quit playing when a win goal is reached. In Rob's case, he leaves the casino when he reaches his win goal, but will return to play another time, on another trip.

In various discussion with those who say they are "advantage video poker players" they claim Rob's strategy is "not logical" and argue that all video poker play is one continuous session.

Well, I've been playing craps longer than I've been playing video poker, and to be honest, no craps player has ever been criticized for leaving the table with a profit or after a hot roll. We craps players know that hot rolls do not come one after another, and it's better to take the money and run so you can come back another day to play.

Why is it different with the so-called "advantaged video poker" players?

Why is it OK for craps players to reach a win goal or leave or stop playing after a big win, but video pokers can't or shouldn't?
