Today (Monday) the stock of the Las Vegas Railway Express (the X-Train) fell to 9-cents a share. A few months back the XTRN stock was around 45-cents a share and seemed to be on its way to bringing a special "party train" between Los Angeles/Fullerton and Vegas, with a train station at the Plaza Hotel where Amtrak used to have a station.

When the stock fell to 9-cents, I started checking the web for "news" and ran across an item about the DesertXpress which is the high speed project that would run from Vegas (where?) to Victorville (got to drive to Victorville to catch a train?). Here is the article I found:

It looks like the DesertXpress is making progress and grabbing headlines while the X-train might be making progress but is certainly not making headlines.

Keep in mind the high speed DesertXpress is a private company, and so far no taxpayer dollars are involved, but that company has said it will need government loans.

The X-Train we understand will not require any taxpayer money to operate.

But the big question is simply this:

Would you take the train? Both seem to want to charge $50 each way. One will have stations in Victorville and Vegas and be a high speed train, the other will have stations in Fullerton and Vegas and will travel slower, on existing rails with a Vegas theme.
