Has anyone taken advantage of the TR offer for a flight +hotel to Reno/Lake Tahoe?

If so, how was the experience? Also the offer has two hotel choices. Which casino would you recommend (Harrahs or Harvey’s)

I’ve never been to Tahoe so any feedback would be appreciated.

    Hi LA Gus:

I haven’t used that flight/hotel offer so I cannot give feedback on the experience.

Harvey’s and Harrahs are connected by a tunnel under Hwy 50 and are both nice and are pretty much treated as the same property. There are only a few differences in that Tier credits in the machines or table games at one hotel are accumulated independently but added together for comps. So you need to add the points yourself for calculating purposes.

All Harrahs rooms have two full bathrooms. I never have seen that at any other place. And for that reason alone I like Harrahs rooms better. If you are Diamond level, I can give a few more suggestions

    Hi Gus:

There are couple of Diamond level benefits at Harrahs/Harveys Lake Tahoe that are unusual to me. One that when you check-in at the Hotel, hand over your Diamond Total Rewards card and ask it to be "coded" for Diamond Lounge entrance. This will let you just stick your TR card into the door at the Harrahs Diamond Lounge 24/7. There will be a sign, see below, which hours but those only apply to when the bar is open. You will always find a coffee machine, and usually water, inside the Harrahs DL along with tvs and a semi-private bathroom. The Harrahs DL is near the High Limit slots and if your coded card is demagnitized, then ask the High Limit Slot attendants to help you out. This the the sign outside Harrahs DL:

Also, the Harveys' Diamond Lounge has fewer hours but has a spectacular view of the Lake and is particularly beautiful as the sun is setting and you are having a drink. It is not that easy to find as you need to go to the Casino Level and find a gold colored elevator near a jewelry kiosk. Then you need to pick up the phone and have a manual elevator operator come pick you up. There are cold sandwiches in the afternoon but the hot food (chicken wings, ect) are only in the Harrahs Diamond Lounge (which has no windows). Here is a photo of the Harveys elevator entrance.

    Hey Gus:

We have done the TR air / hotel quite a few times over the years. My wife has a host through National Casino Marketing that arranges everything. Normally you go with a group of other people some go to Reno, some go to Tahoe depending on what you qualify for. If you qualify for the Tahoe trip depending on the size of the group that qualifies for the Tahoe trip they take you over in a limo or a small bus. Sometimes they have special events like in Feb they are having a Winter Wonderland where the NCM hosts will be bringing players from all over the country. In addition to the room/air there is also a big dinner and an activity that comes with it usually your choice of skiing, snowmobiling, or a sleigh ride. We did the WW last year and really enjoyed it so we are going again this year. I agree with Fab that Harrah's is preferable because of the 2 bathrooms. Also if this is your first trip, on the ride over, be prepared for the spectacular view of Lake Tahoe as you come over the mountain. No matter how many times we have been we always look forward to seeing that.

You are probably going to be taking a shuttle but if you ever want to park, you should bring your Diamond card and ID to Harvey's Hotel checkin and ask for the reserved Parking card. It will allow you into the Harveys' 3rd floor parking (casino level) VIP parking area so you need not hunt for parking that is convenient. Here is a photo of the card I was given last year as well as photos of the VIP parking entrance.

Food: The buffet, 18th Floor Harrahs, is only all right but it has the best view of any buffet on the face of the earth as it faces Lake Tahoe. For steak I prefer the Sage Room (casino level Harveys) but Fridays Station (18th floor Harrahs is pretty good too). There is a food court at Harrahs near the Stateline but those fast food places only take cash or credit cards. If you want to use comps for breakfast and lunch, go to the Coffee Shop on the basement of Harrahs or Straw Hat Pizza in Harveys (Casino level).

If you want to work out, the exercise facilities are better on the Harvey side than Harrahs.

There is a nice shopping area if you walk toward California from Harrahs.

Tahoe is great and given it has the best VP schedules in the CET empire, we really like it.
