Thread: Alan....I知 no longer a craps virgin!

Went to Vegas for five days during GGWU. Was hesitant because that is a long Vegas trip but I had more fun than I致e had in years on any vacation.
    Some highlights....
    - Took Bellagio for just over 20K on one slot machine on first day.
    - At Ballys to get GGWU freeplay, said to my friend, who had never been in Ballys (He痴 an MGM guy) let me show you the Ballys high limit room. In there for 10 minutes and he hits a royal for 40K!
    - Went to just look at Nomad, the 塗otel within a hotel at MGM Park, high limits table games. Manager in there gave us a quick craps tutorial then took us out to a MGM park table. Neither of us had played craps before. Nobody else at table so I started the shooting. (Pardon my lack of proper craps terms) I had no idea what was happening as I couldn稚 see the dice at the other end, but my friend痴 chip pile kept growing and the guy kept pushing the dice to me. Lol. I rolled about 8 or 9 times until a 7. Had a great time! I didn稚 know at the time that it was a long shooter roll time. Didn稚 play craps again but maybe next trip.
Also saw Andrea Bocelli concert. Amazing.
Both came home well ahead. Unusual for me for a Vegas trip.

    Congrats, Chimp! Great trip.

I'll be there in two weeks. One of my friends will be hunkered down at the Paris crap tables, so it's always educational.

    Thanks Redietz. Have fun!
My friend introduced me to roulette a few months ago so I’ve been playing that a lot. Never played table games before. It’s a nice break from slots and video poker.

Wow. Don't tell anyone here that the first time someone shoots craps (a craps virgin) they have a great roll. It's just superstition. LOL

My understanding of the superstition is that a woman rolling dem bones at craps for the first time should do well, and players should bet on her, whereas a man rolling for the first time is likely to lose very quickly, so bet little or nothing on him.
    What, Me Worry?

Well, for those of you that I may have jinxed...my apologies. I take it back. Lol

Men can also be craps virgins.

Yes, they can, but as I pointed out the superstition is that their first roll will be lousy, whereas a virgin female's first roll will be good.

All nonsense, of course, but hey, that's the superstition as passed down from one generation of craps shooters to the next.

I guess I was told a different superstition. There is equality with the sexes at the craps table.

    Hi Chimp:

I was expecting you to relinquish your (dice) virginity to Alan. I am, however, glad you enjoyed your first experience!

    FAB

    You were told wrong.

"Virgin players can be good or bad luck - The context of term virgin in this case isn't necessarily implying if you are really a virgin or not. It is just in regards to if you have ever played craps before. So this superstition is related to first time players of craps. If a "virgin" male comes to the table and starts rolling the dice, the superstition says he will be bringing bad luck to the table. In contrast, if a "virgin" female begins playing for the first time at a craps table, she is supposed to bring good luck. This is actually where the term Lady Luck originates."

FAB....I too thought Alan would be “the one”. (Wink, Alan)

Well, we're just going to have to update the superstition along with the anti discrimination laws and the MeToo movement. LOL

(Imagine this: MisterV debating what's the correct superstition. LMAO)

I'm not sure what point you are getting at here, but fuzzy thinking and holding a firm albeit clearly incorrect belief about things is no way to go through life.

Take the 18 yo's debacle, for example.

Just open your eyes, use your brain as a filter, and get it right the first time.
    What, Me Worry?

Okay MisterV. I concede you're correct in the superstitions category. LOL

I am not superstitious as to virgin shooters, and usually don't bet virgin men or women shooters. But I did always have good luck with drunken cowboy shooters during the rodeo.

I saw this bumper sticker on an old pickup driven by a gal in full cowgirl regalia: "Preserve our western heritage: ball a cowboy."
