Thread: Disaster tour of LA fire areas

  1. #1
As I did last year following the devastating Ventura (CA) fires, I took my girlfriend and son on a "tour" of fire-ravaged areas of Agoura and Malibu, where the Woolsey Fire (November 2018) hit hardest.

    Here are a few pictures:

Camp Hess Kramer in Malibu, a Jewish sleepaway camp I attended in 1982, which still operated until the recent fire. It was mostly destroyed. It was my first time away from my parents.

Mulholland Highway near Agoura Hills, right next to the Peter Strauss Ranch (which was also destroyed). The fire was so hot that it warped the metal, and the bridge fell apart.

The Paramount Ranch was the filming site of many movies and TV shows (mostly western-themed ones). It was open to the public, even during filming.

Here's what it used to look like:

    Whoa!

The warping of the bridge beams is frightening proof of the intensity of this conflagration.
