Thread: Video Poker simulation software

Does anyone know of video poker simulation software I can buy?

This isn’t to practice the game. I am looking for software to give me results after I play x number of hands.

I want to be able to put in the game type (job, db, etc), the odds table, Starting credit amount, bet size and number of hands and let it go to work. Of course it would also need to know perfect strategy for each game type or have some way to enter it in the software or code.

It seems that video poker has a skewed distribution unless one plays ALOT of hands so calculating this info theoretically based on odds/variance/standard deviation just doesn’t work well and the information needs to be empirically generated through a simulation to be accurate.

Here is why I want it. I want to figure out the potential win/loss spread to get to Seven Stars in one year. It seems the most efficient way to get there is to play for 5000 tier points in a session and get the 10000 bonus tier points. So assuming no other bonus points it would take 10 sessions like this over a year to get the needed 150,000 tier credits to reach Seven Stars.

I did this manually on my computer with an app that will hold cards based on perfect strategy for whatever game with whatever odds you input. This app is really meant to be used to practice the game but it works for my purposes as well. So I just sat there hitting the deal/draw button repeatedly for however many hands I wanted. It is super boring and a real PIA but does yield the results I’m looking for. I was just hoping a software existed that one could buy to do the same thing more easily.

For those that are interested - I did my manual simulation using full pay Aces and Faces with $25 coin in/hand. I got the win or loss after each “session” of 2000 hands (enough to yield 5000 tier points at 1 point/$10 coin in). I then did this 10 times to yield a “full year” of play. I got one royal flush during the simulation run. With the royal flush included I was $12,175 ahead for the year. Without it I lost $7825. I would like to run this type of simulation several times to have a better understanding of the potential win/loss range over a multi-year period.
