Thread: Final day as a Seven Stars member

What should I do to celebrate?

I revert to Diamond tomorrow, probably for good.

I've been Seven Stars since 2012.

*Go to Ceasars Palace Diamond lounge at 4:00 PM when the hot food comes out and cut in front of all the Diamonds lined up to enter. Make eye contact with them as you do so!

*Visit the Qua Spa at Ceasars with a guest and use the complimentary entrance for Seven Stars for the last time and use the triple pools (hot, med, cold) then the hot sauna then cold room.

*Use the complimentary round of golf both at Cascata and Rio Secco Golf Club in Vegas.

If you didn't need the TR card for the WSOP, I'd say cancel the whole account and burn all of the cards. So for now, I'd say celebrate.

    Congratulations!!!

it's almost as wonderful as having a lot of miles on a frequent flyer card

for your next great accomplishment you should obtain a 7-11 rewards card

I think after you buy 7 coffees you get a free coffee

Of course what I'm saying is true. I saw it ON THE INTERNET.

If your reason for no longer to remain 7 star is the loss of the free room benefit as you have mentioned several times you are probably just as well to revert to diamond card status. There is a new benefit I saw on another gambling website you are probably already aware of where you get one free room to use at any CET property for every 5,000 tc's earned limited to 7 free rooms per year. This should satisfy your need for free lodging in Vegas for the times you want to visit and not feel the desire to run coins through the machines such as when you are participating in the WSOP events assuming you are still doing so.

You will be giving up 7 star trip, $500 free food, line cutting status, deeply discounted cruise, 7 star event, but the majority of the other things you get with 7 star will remain in place with your new diamond card status. Since you go to Vegas quite a bit if I was you I would get at least 25,000 tc's so you can get into the diamond lounges for free. So if these things are only marginally important to you it is probably a smart move on your part to say goodbye to being a 7 star cardholder.

Not to be rude, but why would you celebrate your last day as a 7 Stars Member? Isn't a 7 Stars Member a GOOD thing? You get a lot of good perks for that. I could imagine you celebrating your last day as a BRONZE Member because in Gulfstream, a Bronze Member is the lowest Tier. A Bronze gets you free play and points and possibly Promotions such as "Spin The Wheel," to get a chance to play for up to $5000 in cash just for you!" Gold is the next Tier and is considerably better. Presidential is the top tier and gets you a Host, comped Spa days, limo rides, free food , and all the perks. I could see if you were a Bronze being upgraded to Gold the next day(Considering how Bronze is the worst) and Gold is so much better, but it doesn't seem like 7 stars is anything like the Bronze equivalent at Gulfstream. :/

I've been 7stars for past 3 years and decided to let mine run out and revert back to diamond this year also. If I renew diamond next year I'm thinking about doing 5000 points on that video poker 9/6 machine in tahoe with the $230 expected loss. I have a few questions tho...
What's the variance on that machine dan....when u have done 5000 points there in a day what was your best and worse sessions in terms of how much u lost? Just trying to get an idea of how much money I would need to bring for a bankroll to do this.
Also was wondering how the freeplay mailers were after doing 5000 pts in a day at harrahs tahoe?

TeflonRon, I am not Dan and cannot give knowledgable answers to many of your questions but I will clarify that there are more than a few 9/6 JOB machines at both the Harveys' Tahoe and Harrah's Tahoe. I think your concerns focus on variance and I believe that your variance will be reduced by using the dollar three-play or five-play 9/6 JOB rather than a single play machine. I know there are a few such multi-hand machines in the HL room in Harrah's, against the wall near the alcove on the right as you enter. Just be careful as some 9/5 JOB schedule machines are right next to 9/6 machines.

On a related subject when we were in Tahoe a couple of weeks ago they removed all of the 8/5 BP machines that were at both Harrah's and Harvey's that were available at quarter, fifty cent, or at some places able to be switched to dollar level. They have all been downgraded to 7/5. I talked to a bartender there I have known for a long time and he told me that they have a new GM there that came from their Laughlin property. The machines you are referring to in the HLR's are still in place for the time being but I would not be surprised to see them to be reset to 9/5 JOB and 7/5 BP as that seems to be the new standard at all of the other CET properties. We are going back to Tahoe next week and I will check the HLR's again to see if any additional changes have been made.

They also have taken out at both Harrah's and Harvey's many of the traditional reel machines that my wife likes to play. So far the $5 and up reel machines for the most part are still there but they seem to be bringing in many of these newer bright lights with bonus round type machines. Neither one of us are excited with these type of machines because the few times we have given them a try we have had little or no luck on them.

The machine I was referring to was the 9/6 job 25 cent machine where u could play 100 hands at a time....tryin to figure how much worse case scenario would be doing 5000 points even tho expected loss is 230$

The multiplay 9/6 JoB machine at $0.25 actually has the least variance of them. However, you can still lose like $3k if you run bad.

The good thing with that machine is that it takes out some of the royal variance, which is the biggest source of variance in video poker.

If you play a single play or 3-play machine and don't hit a royal, your expected loss is about $1250 in earning 5000 tiers, even if you run totally average otherwise. This is because the royal makes up about 2% of the payout.

If you just want diamond, you may want to consider other options.

Do you have a high tier card at other properties? They will do status matching. I can direct you to the thread here about that, if you want.

You can also buy the Founders Card for like $495, which will give you automatic Diamond.

Keep in mind you won't have access to the Diamond lounges, but you will have everything else.

Also, FAB posted a link in the Total Rewards forum here to opt in to double (base) tiers, which will get you to 20k if you earn 5000 base tiers in one day. Then you can earn 2500 base tiers on day 2, and have enough for the Diamond lounge for that year.

Personally I don't care much about the Diamond lounges, though.

Dan, I don't understand. All these years I thought Rob was just aggravating everyone by accusing them of playing for the points. Apparently, this is a widespread practice. Do they do this just to be able to lounge around casinos and have someone to stroke their egos? What's the point?

Slingshot, my wife and I are both diamond and that’s good enough for us. We get the comp rooms we need in Reno, Tahoe, and Vegas as well as junket offers to Laughlin covering airfare and hotel. The diamond lounges are okay and we definitely partake but certainly not a reason in and of itself make diamond.

To answer your question, for us, the point isn’t about lounging around or ego, it’s simply that we enjoy the trips and gamble for entertainment so we may as well get comp rooms and other swag. Besides diamond isn’t that hard to make.

My point, exactly. I still got offers for a one night stay as platinum. And just playing sensibly my Diamond status was restored in 8 months. I DID enjoy not having to earn tier credits to receive some of the offers after having my Diamond status restored. The food offers at my Horseshoe, however, have been dropped in the past 3 years to almost nil! At my other casino, I get 4 comped meals a month and they also sent $100 free play for my birthday next week- and I'm not even top level. Go figger!

What kinda freeplay mailers would I get from doing 5000 points in a day at harrahs tahoe?

    Not very good.

Tahoe is notoriously cheap with their offers for playing those 9/6 machines.

At best you'll get something like $300 offers, but often you'll get less than that.

It's important for everyone here to realize that your offers are independent of your tier level.

Being Diamond does NOT improve your offers.

Being Diamond gets you certain guaranteed benefits, the best of which is the ability to not pay resort fees.

Yes, forgot to mention earlier not having to pay resort fees. For us, staying some 20-30 nights a year in CET properties that benefit is a very real value.
