Thread: Does Moses Really Know Much About Blackjack

  1. #41
Moses, you ask a valid question: You asked: “Is there a reason I should I know why casinos exists?”

Of course, it doesn’t matter if all you want to do is play the games in a casino and win or lose some money.

For the people (mostly APs) who are CONSTANTLY criticizing casinos and blaming them for the things outside their control (like bankruptcies, divorces, suicides, etc) then yes, I think it’s important to know why they exists. If you aren’t blaming casinos for things outside their control, then no, there is no reason to know why they exist.

Casinos exist because our government, which is self governing, wants them to exists. It’s that simple. If you don’t like what casinos do, which is provide negative EV games for the purpose of entertainment, than take it up with our government, take it up with the people of America. Blame them...don’t blame casinos!

Why do I care? Because everytime I say something to defend a casino, I get some goofball, naive, uniformed AP sending me articles about the evils of casinos and all the negatives associated with them. I get it. Everybody who wasn’t born under a rock gets it. Please stop sending me these articles!!!

This will always be the result of casinos opening in new areas. Why? Because there are weak people in our society. As you know Moses, God didn’t make us perfect. It’s the same reason we have alcoholics. It’s the same reason we have fat people. Are the beer companies to blame for alcoholics? Is McDonald’s responsible for fat people. If you follow AP logic to its logical conclusion, then the answer is yes.

If APs want me to quite defending casinos then they need to quite saying stupid, inaccurate things about casinos and they need to quite blaming casinos for things outside their control. When APs do that we’ll have a truce and I’ll quite calling APs idiots. Lol. By the way, I don’t think all APs are idiots. I’m an AP after all.

Moses, if you remember this was my main conflict I had on BJTF. I defended casinos and everybody else attacked me and blamed casinos for things outside their controlled. Freightman was one of my main antagonists. I could tell he never got it.

APs are also upset at casinos for kicking them out. As for me, I understand why casinos kick me out. They are a business and they want to make money. It makes sense they would NOT want APs around. There is no business that wants customers that take money from them, without adding any value.

This is why I’ve said an AP can be thought of as a parasite. We live off the host (casinos, a business adding value to their community through entertainment, jobs and tax revenue) without adding any value. Some people don’t like it when I use this word to describe an AP but I’ve yet to hear a better description for an AP. Bosox wants to call us cockroaches. I don’t think that’s a very flattering word either.

Hope this helps clarify my position....and great question.

Moses, yeah calling it a feud is probably too strong of a word. My feud was more with Freightman, his buddy Bosox and Three. My feud got so bad with Three, he even had me on ignore. I always found whenever someone had me on ignore is when I’d get more replies from them.

When someone tells you you’re on ignore, it really means the opposite...it means they’re obsessed with you. That’s why I will never put someone on ignore. I don’t want to give them the satisfaction they’ve got to me, and I’m obsessed with them. I noticed you never claim to put someone on ignore too. Good move! It’s called never letting the other side know you’re weak.

Three pulled the all time classic, replying to one of my posts by showing me a picture of having me on ignore. I thought, wow, you can’t make this stuff up. Only in the AP world. Lol

I do remember we had one or two disagreements. Nothing major. When I came on this forum my only intent was to learn more about your column count. I figured if I used my dbs handle, you probably wouldn’t take my question seriously. By that time, I obviously didn’t have a great reputation on BJTF. I mean even Don Schlesinger was calling me names.

Anyway, you gave me a much better and more detailed answer than I was expecting. I get what you’re doing with the column count. I think I have elements in what you’re doing with my side counts. If we should get together, we can compare our systems. I like to keep my count simple but I’m always adding elements to it.

But no, you’re right, we never had any real feuds...and i did alway enjoy your posts. And you had some great sports videos. A couple with some epic races in the Olympics. We (meaning me and my brothers) were all runners too so I liked those videos. I sent them to my brothers, one who is a missionary in Africa. My brothers really liked those videos too.

Casinos exist because the surrounding communities of voters "including overwhelming majorities of poor people were pro casino" passed binding resolutions, and later voted into law. Now I have a theory on why this all works out in the end. Middle class people are way over taxed and pay for all the free and easy to obtain welfare state benifits. Many of the people that are receiving these free benifits do not appreciate or rather take for granted it will always be there. Then a new casino comes in and who is going to show up to play? Of course the poor and uninformed. After all they are only playing with money that was expected,"Government owes them" money that was not earned but given to them.

Now I call this the revolving door revenue program. The middle class is taxed through the teeth, the government in turn pays out enormous sums of incoming tax money through welfare non-efficiently with very little scrutiny. The government needs a little separation difference between
the dwindling working middle class and the poor otherwise no one would work. So the government has the lottery, and agreements with casinos that bring in revenue percentages. The poor love to bet with money that they did not earn to begin with. The Democratic Party puts on a good show pretending they are the party of compassion but it is all a facade to only win elections. Casinos, and lotteries in fact keep the lower class of people POOR. Back to the revolving door policy commercial from 1988 with Willie Horton getting paroled and committing rape and other crimes, it is a similiar but a different comparison with the werlfare state.

First, good post Bosox. I agree with most of what you said. But I think there are a lot more people that play in casinos than just poor people. The wealthy like them too. But yes, they are mostly a regressive tax on the poor, the stupid, or people who just like casinos.

There are a lot of smart people who enjoy casinos too for their entertainment value. I know people who’ve met their wives there. It’s a good pickup place, almost better than a club. And contrary to what some people think, the majority of people in casinos are responsible gamblers, meaning it doesn’t impact they finances.

Now onto Moses question. I’m a conservative. I don’t believe guns kill people, casinos make people poor, McDonald’s makes people fat, beer companies make people alcoholics, violent movies make people shoot people, etc. I don’t think like a liberal, who don’t hold individuals accountable for their actions.

When it comes to gun laws, there will always be debate on how far these should go. But in a free society like ours there is not much that can be done. There will always be a tightrope any society walks between freedom and security. And you’ll never be able to make everybody happy. So I don’t get too involved in the gun debate, other than to say people kill people. Guns on their own cannot rise up and slaughter us. Lol

Back to your question, people are always going to spout off on forums. Without some conflict, forums would be boring, and nobody would tune in.

Yes, kj is a blabber mouth who goes on his rants that most the time make no sense but that’s his right. No one needs to pay attention to him. If it bothers someone, put him on ignore or block. When he goes on tilt, some sites ban him like Norm did on BJTF. I’m actually glad Dan doesn’t ban him here since I find kj entertaining, and sometimes he gives good bj advice.

I don’t think any of this should be taken to the point of threatening violence. Forums are where people go to share their experiences and sometimes make wisecracks that we can’t make at work or in our normal everyday life. People need to calm down and not take any of this so seriously. I’ve learned a lot through these forums...and they’re definitely entertaining. Kind of like spending an evening at one of my local casinos, but without all the name calling.

That’s my two cents for what it’s worth.
