Thread: Really being cheap and Ultimate X vulturing

  1. #1
If you really want to be cheap....

In Vegas, certain Terrible Herbst gas stations give you a coupon at the pumps for a free coffee or 32 ounce soft drink. I discovered you don't actually have to buy any gas... just insert your debit card and the option to print your coupon appears. Print the coupon. Go inside and get your fountain drink.

I discovered this after my free breakfast at Red Rock and then I did some Ultimate X vulturing. The very first machine at the 5-cent denomination had multipliers ranging from 2X to 8X on the next hand. It was ten play DDB. I put in a $20 and got back less than my bet. LOL

I started out Friday down $32.25 all on either nickel or dime plays. Ended the day up $78.50.

Not a bad deal for the drinks too if you're there to begin with.

Sorry you didn't make any money on ONE HAND.
Are you sure you're using correct strategy?.....LOL

Don't worry, the first of the month is not that far off. You'll be back in the game in no time.
Until then enjoy the free sodas at Terrible's. Look on the bright side, it's not any worse than the fake juice at Red Rock.

Oh, you might want to edit that signature.

You don't even need a coupon. Sometimes I will go in Sunday mornings to get my wife the Sunday Paper. I Will put in $20 and check the UX. If there's nothing, I just cash out hand them the ticket and then ask for a courtesy cup and get her some coffee.

If I need gas and want a soda I will do the same thing. I'm up about $200 doing this, not including the free drinks.

I admit I have never played video poker in a gas station, a supermarket or in a restaurant waiting area.

Often I will see people playing VP in gas stations and I just can't figure out why when real casinos are nearby.

I have seen people (mostly men) playing at supermarkets and I just rationalize that their wives are shopping. But when I see them playing with their grocery bags by their feet I have to wonder....

Yes... I've often played at local bars/restaurants while eating a meal. $20 of play and the burger and diet coke are usually comped.

Being a slot attendant at a super market gaming room has to be the easiest job in the world (Food Source in Reno across from the Atlantis comes to mind). The average age of the slot attendant at these places is about 85 years old.

Since you started this thread and are obviously a wealth of knowledge, why didn't you post the exact vulture strategy?
Would you please inform the forum of exactly what a positive situation on Ultimate X looks like when you find the game?
Which games are positive? Do you play Triple, Five or Ten Play?
What pay tables are positive and do you change Basic or Advanced Strategy for this game?
Do you have to bet Max only or can you bet less?
Are you able to at least provide a link to players who do not understand how to vulture this game?
    Anything useful would be appreciated.

It doesn't have to be Mendelson.
Anyone who has the answers can post them if they like.
Would MaxPen be willing to help?

Monet is asking legitimate questions, Alan. To start with do you know the proper bet per line when vulturing UX's? Let's see if Alan can answer this question before anyone else gives the answer.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

There has actually been some good +EV promotions at Gas Stations/7-11's over the years. There have been many good +EV progressive opportunities at the supermarkets. Back in about 09(it was the same year they had that big snow day) I cleared over 17k in 2 week period spread out over a small chain of connivance stores(4 to 6) making $100 to $400 in risk free money at each location daily. All the driving around town was the most time consuming part. Other than that, it was laid back and fun.

I think you already know the answer to that question.

The above is a perfect example of an attempt to troll AP's.

Using a whopping $5.00 free play this morning, I found exactly two plays. The first was quarter triple play deuces with one 2x. Got dealt trash and made one 3 oak on a non-multiplier hand for $1.25. Next play was a nickel triple play DDB with one 2x. Got dealt three kings. No improvement and made $3.00. With 50 cents in free play left, I played it off one credit at a time on quarter deuces. First hand, dealt a pair of 9's and got no help. Last hand dealt 2A822 and got no help on the draw. Made $1.00 on that 4 oak for a total profit of a staggering $5.25!!

when i have free play i like to wait and see if i find any UX plays because VP generates less points than slots, so i ideally use cash on the OM GE etc and FP on the UX

It would just be given all back on craps and poorly played VP.

So what! Isn't it better (for Alan) to be giving back than to just be giving?

Besides, who are we (AP's) to tell Alan or anyone else how to play and what to lose. He should do what makes him happy.

And don't forget, it is the Alan's of the world that really makes advantage play possible. (no offense Alan)

Scarab and golden egypt Alan. We want to see your AP report.

  18. #18
This thread was about Alan starting to see the wisdom of AP. How did it deteriorate so bad? Let's get it back on track and now that Alan has reported on ultimate x and oceans magic, let's see a report on scarab and golden egypt.

i have a report on scarab: i can count on 1 hand the number of times I've actually seen one left in a playable state. even in a casino where ploppies won't play 1 more hand of UX, they all seem to finish spin 10 before they leave this game.

I'm waiting for Alan to report
