Hey Bosox, I missed post #86, otherwise I’d have responded. I just read it, and thought it was good, with the exception of your last sentence: “There is only one choice left to blame, the no good f.... casinos.” This in a nutshell is my problem with APs.
Casinos are doing excatly what they have been commissioned to do by the voters and our government so why do so many APs criticize them?
When I defend casinos, I get attacked endlessly by the AP crowd. I think I got at least 10 articles sent to me by the BJTF goofballs showing me the evils of casinos. When I defended casinos on BJA, the same thing happened. When I defended casinos here, same thing. I think it was Mickey and jbjb who sent me articles or explained to me the evils of casinos.
I’ve come to the conclusion APs are the only people in the world that don’t know everybody in the world understands the unintended downsides that occur when a casino opens in a local area. It’s not the casino’s fault this happens. It’s the nature of a casino’s business and a free society that makes this inevitable.
Alan, asked me what’s my point. My point is APs should quite criticizing casinos....and they should stop sending me all these articles on the evils of casinos. If they feel so strongly casinos are evil, they should work to get them shut down. Being an AP doesn’t accomplish anything. This doesn’t make APing wrong or bad, but nobody should think it’s accomplishing anything. I like being an AP weekend warrior, but I don’t think I’m accomplishing anything except making money for myself, and helping some lower paid casino staff through tipping. Tipping is my way to give back to an industry I love and respect.
I am NOT a casino employee (as some think), but I will always defend casinos from some of the stupid accusations APs make against them. You’d think casinos caused world hungry the way most APs complain about them.
If we can all agree casinos are doing nothing wrong, then we will all get along. Casinos are providing a value (that of entertainment) to society for the people who gamble responsibly, which as Alan has pointed out is the majority. And casinos are providing jobs and a revenue stream for state and local governments. All good things!
