Thread: Changes in Harrahs Lake Tahoe Pass Cards

  1. #1
I was at Harrahs Lake Tahoe last week. it used to be that one could enter the Diamond (AKA Laurel) Lounge at Harrahs anytime by having your Diamond or Seven Stars card coded to open the door. Now if there is bar or food service you need to show ID to the attendant. Probably not a bad idea since the place can get crowded. See the photo showing the bar and food hours and the typical food. Actually the food was pretty good to me. I particularly liked the gumbo.

On off hours, you can let yourself in by inserting a card in the door bu instead of a code added to your players card, you need to use a card issued through the nearby High Limit Slot booth. Below is the "Lake Tahoe Laurel Lounge 2019" card I was given. There is a pretty convenient coffee/hot chocolate machine 24/7, plus a semiprivate restroom as well as a quiet place to contemplate your gambling losses!

Finally, since it after March 31, 2019, the VIP parking section in the Harvey'd garage uses a "Priority Pass" card you can obtain from the Harvey's VIP or check in area. This has yet another visual look. See below.

    Interesting!

I might visit Tahoe this summer and make use of it.

Thanks for the report, as always

    Hi Fab,

We are going up to the lake in a couple weeks. I didn't try to go to the new Laurel lounge last time we went and wonder if I'm still not a "high enough" diamond to enter. I made it to 15k+ tiers last time to maintain diamond. Also, I noticed what you said in a different thread about both properties degrading their VP schedules especially in bars. The best play for us is still the high limit room in Harrah's which offers TDB & JOB on a 50 play machine. Another thing is the parking situation has gotten convoluted but we valet anyhow. Hope that hasn't changed for diamond players.

    Hi DannyJ:

The High Limit room in Harrahs still has full play JOB and Bonus poker at the 50 play machines. I did not play TDB so I cannot tell you any info on that. There are 3-5 play machines at $1 and up which have full play JOB as well at Harrahs High limit. So while bars have diluted pay tables, you can still find what you want.

Parking hasn't changed for Diamond players as far as I know. As a Diamond you can get a reserved parking card for Harveys at the 3rd floor if you are so inclined.

I don't have personal knowledge about entry into the Laurel lounge if you were less than 25,000 points last year. But I thought you needed to hit 25,000 or pay 1,000 in reward credits.

Enjoy Tahoe and consider reserving a boat tour on the Bill Harrahs yacht in advance since you are Diamond.

    Thanks Fab,

I want to look into the Tahoe Star lake tour but haven't found much info on it. We're going to be at Harvey's this time. The weather should be perfect.

The Tahoe Star fills up quickly. My host advised me to make a reservation 2 weeks in advance. If I were you I would call your host or the host on duty and book

Harvey’s is interesting in that you swipe your Diamond card with parking ticket when leaving. And then the gate opened when driving out without having to enter the ticket. Had me totally confused.

Agree the Tahoe Star is worth booking well in advance.

Overall disappointed in the lack of attention being paid to details at Harvey’s from the public areas to the rooms. Definitely in harvest mode and they are milking it.

Now that Eldorado Group is digesting CET, I wonder what will happen to the Eldorado controlled Montbleu. It makes no sense for an entity to have three large casinos in Tahoe within a golf ball drive.

We stopped getting mailers from Montbleu a few years ago. That happened after one morning before we checked out from Harrah’s we walked over to Montbleu had breakfast and played off our free play that had just dropped that day. My wife hit quad aces for $800 on her last hand of FP. We cashed out and left having not played a dollar of our own money. I guess their computer didn’t like that at all. They really don’t have any good VP anymore.

Good timing by your wife. Did you ever play at the nearby Hard Rock Tahoe to see if you could get some attractive teaser comps?

Last January I walked from Harveys to Hard Rock and got a players card for the first time. I decided to take a flyer in High Limit, figuring if I won, that was good. If I lost, I assumed I would get some teaser offers. I was down about $300 when I hit a wheel of fortune spin and then cashed out. See below. I guess since I won, I only got minor offers I did not bother with.

    Hi FAB,

Yes we will give Hard Rock a little play but there really isn’t any good VP. I even played a little craps there last trip but, the younger crowd on the table seemed to just be happy that they were “playing” instead of trying to win. The mailers we get from them are pretty skimpy, like $20 FP and a couple mid week nights comped.
