I think we both realized that as soon as the rules at Dominions' casino mentioned (by Dominion himself) that the decks could be switched when the person dealing was changed during the stud and draw 5 card games, that he would have to rely on his wits rather than marked decks during the final stages. I liked the old school pips and faces only cards. Back then you could depict women as completely useless in all facets except as a love interest - she was a non-stop detriment to his success until the end. But of course there would be no story if that were not the case. How he knew that the freshly printed marked decks had no latency (or if there was latency what that latency would be) between delivery to the casino and when they hit the felt is anyone's guess ;-).
