Not a movie but I was going through some 80s and 90s songs just now as I miss that era...
This video and song is pretty powerful in my opinion.
Now this next album was released in 1983 but people have no clue.
They think it was in the 90s or early 2000s and others think it sounds like the 60s.
It is truly a great album that seems to cross over many eras.
I still love to listen to it today in 2020.

As a senior in high school in the mid 80's, I remember that our graduating class was so apathetic that one of the other classes (juniors IIRC) won the homecoming float contest which normally the school awards to the senior class (I heard about it from a friend) by default . But since only a very very small percentage of Seniors showed up and participated in making the float and cheering it on, they had no choice but to award it to a different class.
Many people from that era just got on with it - I'm glad I was part of that (fuck participation awards and group think).
Wasn't a big Bush fan, but Glycerine was one of the best songs of the 90s.
Movie reco: Tenet (2020)
Not sure how I missed this movie from 2009.
Caught it today on one of the movie channels.
Based on a True Story.
The musical score and slow methodical burn could hypnotize you into an emotional breakdown.
97% chance of eyes watering.
I was fine till my wife decided to cut up a bunch of onions in the kitchen.

I got the complete DVD Set of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century today.
The first episode has the James Bond Style Intro and feels a bit more like a TV Movie.
A Great TV Movie IMO.
That episode was enjoyable and this show has William Conrad's voice along with Mel Blanc.
Gil Gerard reminds me of Robert Urich and I've always been a fan of them both.

The next episode is "Planet of the Slave Girls" and features Jack Palance!
It also has Buck Rogers from 1939 meeting Buck Rogers from 1979!
1939: "I've been doing that sort of thing since before you were born, Captain."

You can find these on ebay and I got mine for 30 dollars in like new condition.
Really happy with it.
After researching a bit it appears the show was tied for 1st with Laverne and Shirley and Benson.
After the 4th episode they took a break to build a bigger set and props.
The second season got delayed from an Actors Strike.
The show never recovered in the ratings.
Brings me back to my childhood as I love this show.
The second intro that was primarily used is probably one of the best TV Intros ever!
However, I am enjoying it even more today.
I didn't watch much of Avengers or that Wolverine garbage and what I did see has nothing on shows like this.
I'm about to buy the entire DVD set of BattleStar Galactica which is another great show from the late 70s!

My only gripe with the show is that after season one the episodes seemed to get redundant.
That being said, who wouldn't want to live next door to Circus Circus and drive your car into your Living Room?
And... having milk delivered to your door every morning while a Show Girl works your telephone!

Hi Monet, I saw Vanishing Point some years back and thought it was great. I haven't seen The Driver or Posse. Thanks for posting these. I saw a movie with Bruce Dern a few months ago with Matt Dillon called the Big Town. It has to do with Matt Dillon being a craps hustler. Apparently as long as you know the odds of a game you can make money at it even if it is -EV. LOL. Tommy Lee Jones does a great job in that movie as well. I enjoy Bruce Dern's movies just as you do.

After you watch it you should research it a bit if you have time.
One of the best movies of its genre and the chase scenes are probably the best in the business.
Your going to get many people saying that Bullitt, with Steve McQueen, is better in that regard but I disagree.
Of course Bullitt was first and the Director, Walter Hill was inspired by that movie.
Either way, you can't really go wrong with either as it boils down to preference and what kind of mood you are in.
Besides, The Driver is on the wrong side of the law but he lives by a specific code.
I think you and I can relate.
The director of "The Driver" does the story with a minimalist approach.
Not much dialog but I figure you will understand the characters and the world they live in and why they do what they do.
Posse is just amazing to me.
I don't want to spoil it at all for you so better for you to watch it and discuss it later.
Perhaps you won't like either of them as much as I do but you won't know till you actually watch them.
Vanishing Point is great because it is basically Rage Against the Machine.
It has some problems with it to me because the car just takes too much abuse and never has a scratch on it.
(I recently bought all the Dukes of Hazzard episodes and it reminds me of that. Not a bad thing as I am enjoying season 1, 2 and 3 more than I did as a kid!!)
That bothers me a bit but the heart of the story, as you already know, is to go out in a Blaze.
Hopefully a Blaze of Glory.
Not much left for that guy to do really.
He got bored after being a War Hero, Medal of Honor Winner, Race Car Driver, Policeman, Police Detective... etc etc.
After that he fell down the slope pretty fast, which is very realistic as you get older.
The world doesn't make sense anymore and he turned to drugs.
Basically trying to achieve that Edge or High that he had most of his life.
I really love the ending of Vanishing Point as I usually want my movies to not be some Happy Hollywood Ending.
Anyways... long post... watch the movies if you ever get the chance and let me know what you think.
Nothing wrong with Matt Dillon at all IMO.
Most of his movies are really good.
I watch Factotum all the time amongst others of his.
I seen the Big Town a few times.
Recently it was on one of my channels.
A little silly but entertaining.
They didn't concentrate on the cheating as much as they should of.
Like you said, they focused on Hot Streaks.

Great Movies and Actors are over.
Mostly because of some bean counter saying that good stories aren't cost effective anymore.
They don't want Great Movies or Great Actors anymore.
They just want to make 1000% or more on their investment.
Turns out all they need is CGI to achieve that.
Gone are the days of method acting and story telling.
We had a good run.
Turns out it is like Television Shows.
I have to buy all the DVD sets now to enjoy TV.

thanks Monet. I'll see if The Driver and Posse come up on Tubi TV and if not then I can probably find them on putlocker (and then watch it on my laptop if that is the case). Yes Matt Dillon was in a number of good movies. I thought Rumblefish was pretty solid for example. Yup it's pretty much over. They figured out they can make a profit on most things without requiring any quality as you stated (same with food and music too I suppose). Marketeers dumbing down the populace did the trick, but unfortunately that also created a nation of millennial invalids.
Whoops totally forgot about Wild Things (1998) - highly underrated Matt Dillon film IMHO (didn't get good reviews really). You might want to check this one out if you haven't seen it Monet. It's pretty fucking sharp.
