Thread: Whack Paytable

  1. #1
Playwithanedge1 found a whack paytable (I saw it on his twitter account) and made it pay off big. I can see why he was betting $450 a hand here (I'm assuming this was KoBJP and that the lower hands on the paytable are normal for Kings or Better Joker Poker). I can only wonder if this was a case where the 5oak jumped to its astronomical value at 15 coins bet (a gaffe) and then returned to normal proportions with less or more coins bet or if it was proportional for all coins bet. If the former, then what a needle in a haystack find and kudos to the effort involved (even if the 5oak is proportional its still a great find) in finding it since it involved a massive search.

Not unusual. You can find many JP game where the 5 oak pays like a royal but the natural royal is diminished to 500 credits per 5 coin bet.

Thanks. So, then, there may be something going on in the lower part of the paytable given the bet size involved. Royal Aces has the lowest 800 to 1 cycle I've encountered since quad aces with no kicker gives you your money back plus 799 coins for each coin bet and I've seen 100-hand Royal Aces bonus. If it's all about frequent access to 800 coin payouts (but maybe that casino had this jackpot as the highest 800 coin payout that is more frequent than TDB and TDB quick quads) - then that would be the game of choice IMHO.

Definitely need to see the full pay table on the above JP game to make a determination. I'll try to get a picture of one of these 4000 coin quint games tomorrow.

The game PWAE was playing is called Atlantic City Jokers - This payscale used to be all over AC in progressive form with strong meter movement. It was the main advantage video poker play in AC for years.

The payscale in the pic is 97%. There was also a version where the 5K paid 1000 for 1 which was 99%. The freq. on the 5 of a Kind is 11,000. So with a meter it could quickly go positive. There used to be all kinds of scuttlebutt about it on vpFREE. It's been years tho so I don't know if the progressive game still exists.

Thanks. Also, I remember hearing that 5 joker poker was something around in AC but rare or very uncommon elswhere back in the day, and it too could be played at an advantage with the progressive (I'm guessing the discard strategy was pretty tricky).
