Thread: Encore Boston Harbor sued for offering 6:5 blackjack & stiffing people out of change at slot ticket redemption machines

I haven't been to Encore Boston Harbor yet, but apparently it's already being sued, despite being open less than 1 month.

The lawsuit states that Massachusetts law forbids 6:5 payouts on blackjack, and requires a 3:2 payment on all blackjacks hit. Encore offers 6:5 blackjack at many tables.

The lawsuit also states that slot ticket redemption machines do not disperse change, and just cut off the cents owed when paying players. It claims that players are not instructed how to get the change. This is pretty outrageous if true, and reminds me of the lucrative change-stealing schemes depicted in movies "Superman III" and "Office Space".

Here is the official complaint filed in court: http://www.garicklaw.com/wp-content/...-Complaint.pdf

If they're going to not give change then they should be required to round up on everything.

Sounds good to me that would be a full time job raping the casino 1 ticket at a time.

You're supposed to just agree. Not out the play.

Supposedly, the change comes back as another ticket which you take back to the slots or go to the cage.

As for the 6:5, those payoffs are supposed to only be on 1 or 2 deck games. Not 6 or 8 deck shoes.

As you know, on certain games with certain card reading systems you can induce hand pays (for less than $1200) and the slot persons must round up because they don't give change . . . . Maybe a $1.50 an hour play before you get 86'ed after a few hours (as you already know ;-)).

At some Indian casinos I go to the cashout kiosks only pay out whole dollars but spit a voucher out for the change. You have to go to the cage to cash it.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

In the article I read earlier it says others were asked if they got stiffed on the change like the plaintiff claims. They said no. It was a procedure like you described at some Indian casinos.

More interesting is his blackjack claim of getting paid 6:5 at 3:2 tables.
