Thread: Old Vegas Craps Hustle

  1. #1
This comes from the old A&E Caesars 24/7 series. It’s shows a Craps hustle where the guy claims he teaches how to win at Craps and advertises to find players. Of course he splits the “winnings” with the student afterwards. One of the oldest tricks in the book.

But bonus points for the kickass hair.

    You're saying it's a scam? A hustle?

I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people.

The teacher gets half the wins but doesn't pay for any losses. That's the way it works. Plenty of suckers around to.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

For years there were box adds in the LVRJ in every section that said "Win $250,000 a Year Playing Craps." And there was a phone number listed. One Sunday the RJ published an article on the person placing the adds. He wasn't charging for the course. He took half the winnings in the first hour. He would meet people in non-threatening places like the bar near the craps tables at the Mirage. He would run down his system then take them to the table.

My guess is he qualified people for bankroll and went with people that had some pretty good money. It's a mathematical certainty that a certain percentage of players will be ahead after one hour of play. So he was getting half the win but had to cover no losses.

Brilliant hustle. I heard you could find the same kind of adds in the newpaper in Atlantic City.

The add itself "Win $250,000 a year playing craps," the way it's worded is misleading but not totally false. You can win $250,000 in bets but it will cost you about $260,000 in losing bets to do it. So roughly a net loss or around 10K.

some of this stuff is pretty similar to the touts who say (one I know of one who calls himself the bookie killer) "I only get paid if you win"

    they're not handicappers they're scamdicappers

of course, they're not referring to a total of say 100 bets - they're talking about each individual bet

so when the mark goes 50 and 50 for 100 bets he paid the scamdicapper another 15% on his wins on top of the vig

but his losses don't get rebated by the tout - so instead of losing 4.55% which is average for 100 bets paying out 10/11 his bets cost him about 12%
    please don't feed the trolls
