to the $4.75 breakfast at the Cantina near the parking garage entrance in the Miracle Mile Shops. Eggs, bacon, tortillas, breakfast potatoes with peppers and onions. Coffee was very good. Bloody Marys for $1. Excellent way to start the day. Plenty of sports screens in a Mexican cantina environ.

I would like to recommend the Big Burger from Carls Jr.. This costs $2.15 and is very filling and tasty. It is charbroiled (like all their burgers). I have no affiliation with Carls Jr. - just a very good deal for the money.

It's amazing how cheap some of these big gambler wannabees are....

My idea of a good breakfast is to skip it and go to Tides at 11am next door to the sportsbook at Green Valley Ranch and have a lobster roll.

Oops!....my bad. Redietz is looking for the big shot homeless bus-rider deal.

Wow. This thread is quickly turning ugly. This is supposed to be a FEEL GOOD thread and you are quickly turning it very insulting. On a certain Gambling website you would have been warned/ suspended for hijacking with a personal insult.

Should I whimper, whine, or slap a liberal?

Wow! You are consistent with advice, Ron Singer.....consistently bad! Whether it be progressive wagering to overcome negative expectation, right on through to health/nutrition/eating advice.

Skipping breakfast is about the worst thing a human being can do. Skipping meals, especially breakfast is why people's metabolism slows as they get older. It also reeks havoc with blood sugar levels contributing to the epidemic that is diabetes.

A person should eat within 60 minutes of waking and then every 3 hours throughout the day, even if only a piece of fruit or snack. That stabilized blood sugar levels and sends a message to the brain that there will be sufficient food supply and nutrition throughout the day. Skip breakfast and the message sent is that there is NOT sufficient food and nutrition coming and the body immediately goes into what is known as "starvation mode". Obviously you are not starving by missing one meal, but it is the body's preservation mode. And the first thing that occurs is metabolism slows. Doing this regularly and metabolism slows permanently.

So there is nothing wrong with your lobster Roll at 11am, if that is something you desire, but make that your second meal of the day. Have a bowl of oatmeal or muffin or something shortly after waking and then work towards your 11am nutrition intake.

Ok, since I have corrected this bad advice, let me do another. Stay away from progression wagering. It doesn't change anything as far as winning and losing....just redistributes the wins and losses a bit.

There is mounting evidence that fasting diets with time restrictions may be healthier than eating throughout the day.

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-fas...ad-11564676512

The science is suggesting that this 'starvation mode' you're referencing actually involves a healthy regeneration of cells. If you really think about it, it's only the last few centuries where regular eating has been a possibility. For hundreds of thousands of years, it was feast or famine where hunger and not eating for periods of time was normal and the argument is that the body evolved to accommodate that.

Your Mileage May Vary. I am not a dietician, but I do fast regularly and I think I'm healthier because of it. My Doctor agrees, but not all Drs are in agreement.

    This entire post is funny.

I've heard yuppie after yuppie constantly proclaim the "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" nonsense my whole life. Same with the "later in life" warnings about blood sugar levels, slowing metabolism, etc. Not even close.

Up until 2009 I almost always ate one meal a day, and I enjoyed it. I didn't eat just to check off a box. That mirrors my adult life sleeping habits to this day--I sleep in shifts, a couple hours at a time/2-4 times a day. Sometimes no sleep. When I got out of school up until I began professional gambling, I rarely knew where in the world I would be tomorrow or at what times. Taking naps on airplanes was a luxury. From 2000 thru 2009 I spent about 3 days a week driving from Az. to all points in Nevada. I usually only hit the machines overnight because I had spent enough time over the years being around this planet's most despicable form of life--people. Since mid 2009 my wife has tried and failed to get me to eat and sleep "regularly".

What's the result of this, according to kew if I read him correctly, "poor way of eating"? Well, if both he and I undressed for a side-by-side photo from the neck down, NO ONE would be able to tell who's the 70-year old and who's the 35-year old. I'll also put my speedy metabolism up against any 20-year old's. My grandkids will attest to that one. And has all this bad living affected sharpness of the mind. Ha! I believe nobody needs to be told that answer.

Aside from the nutritional and "yuppie" factors, there are two main aspects that affects the quality of a person's life: first, move more and eat less. Put the fork down at the right time after eating smartly. Next, have as much peace of mind as possible. Find a few decent people to have in your life, project a cheerful attitude, and do not fear death. Worrying about anything only brings that phase in sooner.

You know Ron, this is just you trying to take a shot at someone you don't like. There is nothing wrong with AP's and professional players reducing expenses by finding "value". We aren't on vacation, or retired. We are in our working years and we are working. Expenses, like travel, meals lodging can significantly cut into profits, especially for lower limit players and/or players just starting out.

Now I am not advocating sleeping in your car as some traveling AP's do, nor packing peanut putter and jelly sandwiches as I did early in my career. But there is nothing wrong with taking advantage of different casino food specials and offers, or just good 'value' specials nearby like Redietz found.

I eat courtesy of a casino every single day, occasionally twice a day. I consider it part of my compensation from this line of work. And even though I am using points, rather than cash, most of those days I use some sort of free or half price offer along with my points. This is the AP way. Stop picking on Redietz just because you don't like him, when he said nothing wrong.....just shared something he found as a good value. I mean come on Ron, aren't you the guy that said the Ron Singer doing all that trolling for years isn't really who you are? Yeah THAT lasted a long time.

I kept things going by using a BConnected discount and an LVA 50% off coupon to eat dinner on steak-and-shrimp night at the Orleans buffet. I have no complaints about the variety and quality of food, and I topped things off with strawberry sorbet. Nice room in which to relax, and the tab was just $11.

Kew, I too ate and still eat most meals I take at casinos compliments of the casinos. But I NEVER have gone out of my way looking for "special deals", two-fers, or midnight bus station specials. Either you're the big hot shot gambler you say you are or you're not. Anyone who throws tens of thousands of dollars into action should have zero need to pinch pennies when it comes to food.

That's how I feel about this kew and that's how I do it. It's not about not liking a weirdo like redietz

You know, it just occurred to me. Anyone who throws tens of thousands of dollars into action should probably own a decent shirt to wear for a video shoot. Kohl's has very generous charge accounts. I can vouch for that. I just got 30% off some shoes. LOL.

Rob, this is all about being a true AP in all facets of life. Lessons of early development in training that cannot be turned off and on like a faucet. Some people know no other way and could not stop that type of style if they wanted. I think the right word is being frugal.

As a female high roller said,"I have no qualms about playing $6,000 in gambling but I will not buy a $1,000 purse. I only buy purses if they are cheap. Go figure."

You nailed it Bosox. On one occasion Subway was running a promo where a six inch meatball sandwich was $2. A footlong was $6. I ordered two 6" meatball sandwiches and the cashier rang me up at $6.00 and tax. I said "you got the order wrong, I want two six inch meatball sandwiches" so, with a scowl on her face, I got charged $4.00 and tax.

What IDIOT owner would charge $2 for a 6 inch sub but $6 for a footlong sub? They should have made the footlong $4!"
