Thread: British Empire in state of chaos because of Brexit

    .................................................. .............

the article speculates it's possible the new PM could be voted out of office and he could refuse to leave
it's even possible the Queen could step in and dismiss Johnson - she has "reserve prerogative power"

the article states that some of Britain's laws and political customs are not even written down

"The prime culprit in these scenarios is the Fixed-term Parliaments Act and its failure to specify the resignation of the prime minister after a no-confidence vote and the formation of a new government."

it's really interesting but difficult to follow all of the twists and turns

my use of the word "empire" was meant to be humorous

Of course what I'm saying is true. I saw it ON THE INTERNET.

I can't read this because I'm out of free articles for the month on NYT so I can't read what they said on this.

But I remember as a student years ago being shocked that the British Constitution is not a written document. As in I went to the library to find a copy, thinking there'd be a document like the US Constitution that you could read, only to find out that that is not the case.

The British royal family is just useless. Why those people of that country keep them around to sponge the tax money out of them is behind me. Not to mention, they're ugly as sin.

the Times paywall can be beat any time by clearing your history and cookies - they don't track your IP address - if you need something from your history you can just bookmark it
they give you one free article without logging in - then if you want to read another one you just clear again

that is also true of every other newspaper that I've tried and I've tried lots of them
