Had to go to a wedding in But F--k Iowa, so I stayed two nights at the Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City. Actually a nice, clean pretty modern hotel. Your basic smallish casino. Very limited table games--mostly slots. Very little VP.

They have a buffet, a snack bar, and a steakhouse. Buffet was fair--edible. Snack bar was pure grease. Didn't eat at the steak house. Prices are reasonable. Parking is free. No resort fee.

I didn't gamble other than some nickle slots to kill some time. Watched the one crap game (second table never opened) and nobody bet more than $10. very low limit. But tables were not bouncy at all.

Average age of the customers is DEAD. Even on Friday night it was a pretty old crowd. Free concerts the nights I was there were average at best.

It is a few blocks from downtown Sioux City and let me tell you it is completely dead. Not even a coffee shop. Restaurants aren't even open after work. Bars were all empty. Really pretty sad.

But if you have to be in the area for any reason, the hotel is actually nice.

Went to that casino once a few years ago, but not the hotel. We were going to scout the whole weekend but left after just checking out swing shift the night we arrived. We decided to go to another location.

Thanks Regnis. I may try the casino in Waterloo sometime as it is a major nostalgic location for me (the city, not the casino ;-)) being that I spent a lot of summers there as a kid and haven't been there in 35 years.

Gotta put this place on my Bucket List (100% sure I'll get choked up as I go around town when the memories flood in). I'll never forget the summer of '81 in Waterloo. You would go outside and instantly you would need a shower. Probably 90F outside with massive humidity to go along with it. The Rath meat plant was there too back then (you'd smell it before you'd see it) - it had a big Indian head as the brand mascot which would never fly in today's politically correct (pussified) world.

Sioux City is on one of my routes to and from Montana. I always stop at the Hard Rock to take a survey. In July, 2018 I stopped in and found this game in the pic below. It's called Progressive Pays but nowadays we call them 15's for short. I had never seen this game before and I cover a wide swath of the country. I quickly deduced it is exploitable so hung around Sioux City to play it. It was getting quite a bit of action everyday but just 4 machines.

You can see the 3 progressive free game meters at the top. The 2X starts at 5 free games and progresses upwards as you play. You are awarded the free games when you catch the red bonus symbols on all three reels in the screen. If you don't hit the free games in the screen then when the meter reaches 15 free games you are automatically awarded 15 games at 2X pay.

The 5X and 10X work the same way. The 5X starts at 7 free games and maxes at 15. The 10X starts at 10 free games and maxes at 15. So it's a no brainer that you play when any one of the meters is close to maxing out. The big play is the 10X meter on 14. There is some really big payoffs going on.

So after a few days I walk into the casino and the game was gone. I couldn't figure that out. Why would they take out a popular game? But I did get a pic of the game the day before. In hindsight I think it was a new game being field tested.

I looked for the game everywhere I went. Went thru dozens of casinos and couldn't find it. Then I sent out pics of the game to AP's around the country I'm networked with to see if they knew the game. I think I may have even sent a pic to Tableplay. No one had ever seen the game. This went on for 3 months. Then I got word the game popped up in Las Vegas in October, 2018. And from that point the game has been slowly spreading around the country.

It looks like I was the very first AP to find and exploit this game. I've been getting some nice "thank you's" from players around the country. If you download the pic then take a look at the date it was taken you will see it was July 11, 2018. Fully 3 months before any other AP can say they played this game.

Thanks Mickey; never got to play it. If it ever hits the floor around here (or wherever I hit a casino if elsewhere), I'll look for plays on it. Hopefully, I'll get the chance to vulture it someday.

I've been keeping an eye on these. Haven't seen anyone get a big win on the 10x yet but they've been decent. Got a 5x for 14 games and profitted about $10 on a $1.60 bet level. Hit the 2x 3 times, all at 5 games. Was down about $80 when the 14 game, 5x hit.

One note, these can hit anytime between meter levels. Not just when it clicks to a bigger number.

I've seen what someone posted on Twitter. Not going to invest much time in this high variance play.

I recently eliminated areas from my circuit because they don't have 15's. They're a strong moneymaker.
