What bothers me is how airbnb does nothing to stop this stuff. Airbnb should be aware of it and figure out some way to get around the issue. There should be questions asked of the person staying and after a certain number of X happens, then the host is investigated.

A simple "Was the property as advertised" on each stay. Only accept answers from people who have an existing history on airbnb. Once too many people say something negative, then airbnb could do their job.

I mean my understanding is the original property never even exists ? (OUtside of it existing for the picture somewhere at some point.) The fact that such fantasy places can be rented out REPEATEDLY shows a tremendous failing on airbnb's side.

This scam is going to grow. Thats the whole problem with airbnb's approach. You can't just ignore this shit, or it will keep growing and growing and giving your brand a bad eye.

It is a pretty easy way to make some $$ this way. Rent real shitty property. Get picture of bs property. A phone. What else? license to steal.

You win some and lose some in life. It's how you handle the losses that defines you and your overall ability. Dan likes to believe everyone's out to do everyone wrong so he can wallow in conflict, then moan and groan about the "nerve of some people to take advantage of others".

Just like the vast majority of businesses in this country, airbnb is a very positive experience for a great many customers. We've stayed in quite a few of them and have nothing but good things to say about the homes and their owners. Sure there's some rotten apples out there and the well-rounded individual should always be ready to face them and deal with the negatives with dignity. Either that....or go thru life neurotic, paranoid, and always feeling picked on like a weakass fool.

It looks like the article on Airbnb scams along with the party house shooting has caused Airbnb to take action:

For the most part I understand what the scam was, however it seems like there are a few things missing. Why aren't people charging back and taking this up with their credit card companies?
What good is the Better Business Bureau if they don't help stop things like this?

The Better Business Bureau is a scam in itself. It is not a government organization like many think. It is a private company that is in business to extort about $500 a year from every company around. If you want an A+ rating like so many of your competitors you must pay. If you want fair arbitration to protect your rating you must pay. For ck the BBB
